@Vonbeardingham
@Vonbeardingham 5 лет назад
Vu Le i just had a look on the tc helicon site, their voicelive play and the voicelive 3 extreme are really good units. The voicelive 3 extreme is a real big beast that does everything, while the voicelive play has less options but is much cheaper and compact. Both units have reverb, delays, doubling etc but I’m not sure if the voicelive play does compression or de-essing. The extreme definitely does those. Have a look at some RU-vid videos and see what you think of them both 👍🏼

@tylerpace6517
@tylerpace6517 Год назад
Could you do a video on what these devices are actually called? I sang with someone they had a: microphone mic stand A foot pedal setup? Another device connected to mic stand I think. I think he used that to run reverb on vocals? one tall thin speaker One very large phone or small tablet 12x6 inches roughly on wifi that he used that was connected to the mic stand What are some of these items called, what should we look for if just singing or karaoke or singing and guitar etc. It was the best setup I have sung with. I could hear myself clearly and sounded great with the reverb. It was also rather compact. He was set up in a corner. Devices, what to look for, pricing etc.
@Vonbeardingham
@Vonbeardingham Год назад
From the sounds of it, the speaker may have been a bose system? That sounds like the long thin speaker. The reverb unit may have been something like a tc-helicon perform v or something of that nature. Difficult to know without seeing them. Basically all you need for that kind of setup is Microphone Mic stand Vocal effects pedal/unit Speaker. There are a lot of options out there but those are basically what you’d need

Geez! Wow! This video just turned up on my feed. So I had a listen. I’m a bassist who’s spent a considerable amount of time relearning guitar. I’m an older guy now & my beautiful kids are good & gone, so now I want to spend the rest of my life in music. I’ve arrived at the fact once again that I’m going to have to do some singing if I’m to go solo for now. I prefer band. I can stay in tune ok but I’m not a strong singer. I’ve just been a backing vocalists at jams. I pulled my VL3X out of the closet not long ago & I was going hmmm okay what can I do. I started a search. A few days later I found this simple, down to earth & very inspirational video lesson of yours. It’s just totally changed my approach. Thank you soo much🙏You have no idea what that just did for me….hahahaha honestly! Keep up the good work sir! This world is definitely in need of replenishing. Hey dude, i replied to your message on my fb 👍🏼 i’ll post it up here too 😃 “Hello mate, ive got several and they are the best thing i ever bought. I love them and wouldnt consider changing even if offered something better. Ive used them for years now, only time i get dropouts is when i use them on low power and push the range when going out in crowds, but i could just put them on high power and that would solve that. Build quality is solid and sturdy and the different mic simulations are really good. Throughly recommend them if you want something to last you 😊

@Vonbeardingham
@Vonbeardingham 2 года назад
Ah thank you for the message, really means a lot :) its really tricky when it comes to using different effects for different songs. I find a good thing to keep in mind is keeping a good core sound, then adding in effects when you need it. Other wise sonically, if the voice changes too much during a live performance it kinda throws peoples ears off. I tend to have a base effect with a bit of reverb as my standard, then bring in some extra verb for power ballads, maybe harmonies when i need it and some doubling and delays in certain phrases for effect. Thats just my way of doing things, but the world would be boring if we all did things the same lol
@TheLex20874
@TheLex20874 2 года назад
@@Vonbeardingham thank you for taking the time to reply. Do you think the pedal you are using is suitable for a novice (not a novice singer but a novice at anything sound tech related)? I have looked at the Boss VE 20 but I have no idea what I am looking at! Lastly (sorry!), is the ear monitor the equivalent to me having my own amp so I can hear myself? if so, any recommendation? Thanks again
@Vonbeardingham
@Vonbeardingham 2 года назад
ok pedal wise, I'm not too familiar with the boss range, I'm a tc-helicon man myself and for someone who's starting out with singing tech i really rate the voicelive play. Its a small unit, lots of patches and simple but useful effects to use. In-ear monitoring systems mean that you get to hear yourself much clearer as the ear-buds block out more of the sound of the band onstage. It means you dont have to have a monitor onstage, you dont have to try and be heard over the rest of the band and you can put in as little or as much of other musicians as you like if they are mic'd up into your earphone mix. it basically means you can tailor the sound to sing too exactly how you like it. Its a life and voice saver for any singer :)

Great Presentation. Music Fans, not just Singers, should watch this video. Most think every Professional Singer is amazing and can naturally add these effects to their voice. A good Sound Setup can make most people sound pretty good and good Singers sound great. Hi there! Cool Video! Questions concerning a vocal pedalboard: I have a TCH Mic Mechanic 2 (with reverb, delay, compression, EQ etc.) and would like to add some harmonic distortion with a guitar overdrive (can't afford the JHS Colour Box though ...). How would the setup for a mic have to be? 1st a reamper 2 nd the distortionpedal 3rd the Mic Mechanic ? Going out of the guit pedal, would I have to reduce the level again for the Mic Mechanic? Thank you!
@Vonbeardingham
@Vonbeardingham 4 года назад
That sounds like that would work to me. The only issue as you say would be the level coming out into the mic Mechanic from the distortion pedal. I just looked up the mic mechanic and it appears to have an autogain setting? That may play a bit of havoc with the line in if using a distortion pedal and varying the signal a lot with distortion on and off...it may be a balancing act between all the gains and volumes of each unit but it should work. Friend of mine used to do that kind of thing with chained pedals so in theory yes 👍🏼
