Harry’s greatest weapon wasn’t Love. It was Voldemort’s own arrogance and ego that held him back. If he could have gotten over himself and told his Death Eaters that they could kill the boy if they had the chance. Then the Boy Who Lived wouldn’t have lived very long.

I disagree with Quirrell being able to get the Philosopher’s Stone. He wanted to present it to his master to use, which is essentially the same as wanting to use it yourself. Even if he had no interest in using it for himself, he still wanted it used, which fails the conditions Dumbledor put on retrieving the stone.
I would argued there was no way Quirrell could have got the Stone because Voldemort wanted to use it whilst being physically and life-drainingly part of Quirrell. They were at the time essentially one person/entity. Supported by the fact that Quirrell could not touch Harry's skin without it burning him.
I agree. But then, after Harry gets the stone, Quirrell could have just avada kadavra'd him from across the room instead of trying to physically attack him - Harry didn't even know expelliarmus at that point, he would have been defenseless even with his wand. If you're not gonna use magic to attack your arch-nemesis, just grabbing him with your hands instead, might as well just shoot him with a gun.

why bother with a sword? with Voldy being a very real threat to not only the wizarding world, but also the UK and the PM being warned, why not assign a platoon (or 2 or 3) of Imperial Marines to the job? granted, they're not US Marines, but they can definitely hit a target, and at distance. Hit with 100+ M4s, even on burst, and 2-4 M249s, Voldy really doesn't stand much of a chance.
Villains always want to enjoy and revel in the moment, only for it to backfire. As Anna Valerious from Van Helsing 2004 said when she killed Dracul's bride Aleera..."I think if u want to kill some, kill them! Don't stand there talking about it!" That's always the problem with villains in every story. They always want to sadistically enjoy the moment, but, never get. As for the Battle at the Ministry, trying to bring out a dark side in the heroes, they want to break their spirit and destroy their reputation, even if like Harry then, was being falsely slandered; wanting to make it real. Finally, arrogance, the top of the 7 deadly sin, known as Pride; is always a villains greatest weakness.
I would argue about the 1st one. Quirrell couldn't even touch Harry at the end of the book. Had he used the killing curse on him, it probably would've bounced back just as it did with Voldemort. Because Voldy was on the back of Quirrell's head, so the protection of Lily's sacrifice would've stopped him. The other ones... well, arrogance. Voldy was arrogant and wanted to make a show. If we think about it, he easily could've killed Harry using muggle weapons, OR a spell, that, for example, manipulates the environment (collapsing the ground beneath Harry, etc). Lily's protection didn't work against these kind of things. But no, his only weapon was the killing curse, that failed him over and over.

1. Quirell would have never gotten the stone out of the mirror. He would have never figured it out. If all it took is for Quirell wanting it for Voldermort, then he would've already had the stone by the time Harry got there. 2. The Elderwand... it doesn't matter how Voldermort approached that duel. Harry was already the master of the Elderwand, and the wand wasn't going to turn on him, even if Voldermort disarmed him. Because it states in the tale of the 3 brothers, that the eldest brother had.... " asked for a wand more powerful than any in existence: a wand that must always win duels for its owner, a wand WORTHY OF A WIZARD WHO HAS CONQUERED DEATH". Harry is the only wizard who conquered death. I don't think this was just stated for dramatic effect for a children's story. I believe this is an actual charm placed on the wand.....Antioch would have placed this charm on the wand so, even if disarmed, he , in his mind, would be the only one worthy of the wand. He was probably arrogant enough to believe that by getting a thestril hair to make the wand meant that he had conquered death. This is why, throughout history, the wand has always failed it's owner. It's most likely why Grindelwald lost to Dumbledore. And why he tells Voldermort that the wand would never work for him. Grindelwald had figured it out, isolated in Nurmengard.
@@RKIJSITFAHCWGOR The wand was not being used against it's master when Dumbledore used it. Voldemort was basically a more powerful Neville using his dad's wand at the final duel.

It's because Dumbledore understood that he wasn't it's master, and when facing Voldermort, he was the better Wizard....he didn't need to Elderwand to win that duel with Voldermort. But the history of the Elderwand shows that this isn't always the case. But it sure became a factor with the duel with Grindelwald.

" You are the true master of death, because a true master does not seek to run away from Death. He accepts that he must die, and understands that there are far, far worse things in the living world than dying:" And the reason Harry is able to conquer death, is because Voldermort took his blood, and unknowingly provided Harry with a choice, and a way back from Death.
I’ve always wondered why didn’t Voldemort and ALL of his crew simultaneously use Avada Kedavra during the Battle of Hogwarts. Voldemort should’ve instantly won that fight. Unforgivable curses have a very unfair advantage over other spells.
They’re all a bit rubbish. Anyone with a gun has a killing curse right there. The torture curse? Just get a car battery and jump leads. Imperio is the only useful one. The killing curses being unforgivable is kinda funny when you consider just propelling someone into a wall at 70mph with a spell is basically fine.
The Killing Curse needs a fair bit of "fire power" to pull, so just throwing green beams around will tire a sorcerer rather fast, and it is quite the waste unless you got top notch accuracy with a wand, not to mention the danger of friendly fire.
As a movie watcher, avada kedavra never really made sense for this reason. I'd always assumed that in the books there must be more to it than that, otherwise, if you're trying to kill, why bother ever even using any other spell? During the Battle of the Ministry, when death eaters are fighting the Order, why are they using any spells other than avada kedavra? Do they just love the thrill of the fight and don't want it to be over too quickly?
Another thing that got me..... it didn't have to be Voldemort...but Harry was exposed all the times. Quirrelmort could have had him off the broom or slip something bad into his pumpkin juice....or like Sqabbers could have passed on a very bad disease. Either way, there are loads of times they would have got Harry and sometimes....they didn't need to try since Harry always put himself in danger. I know the Death Eaters were aragont, but I am sure Harry was too. He used his mother's protection and pushed everything to the limit.
About Quirrell being able to get the stone- it specifically states (not sure about the movies but in the book it does) that whether someone wanted it to use themselves or if they wanted it FOR THEIR MASTER, they wouldn't be able to get it.
A few of your times could be disputed. Quirell was too weak in the forest to cast AK, if he wasn’t he could have AK Firenze. Also, Quirell has Voldy attached to him in one body, so technically according to the stone he wanted it too. Therefore, he couldn’t access it. Ministry duel, he tried to stay out of sight as much as possible that’s why he did make himself present until he had to. Even when he battled DD he tried to attack Harry but was thwarted by DD. Possession, he tried to break Harry’s will in hopes to kill him there most likely, but failed. Forest pt 2, he was desperate to trust Narcissa as he didn’t know she was able to avoid his Legilimens ability. Final Duel, he was plain and straight not the beholder of the wand so the wand fell in favor to Harry because of Harry taking it for Malloy making him the true holder of the wand. Which is probably why his AK didn’t work either in the forest.
Quirrell wasnt too weak to cast an Avada Kedavra, after you drink unicorn blood you feel freakin strong and invincible. If Voldemort wanted to stay out of sight in the ministry he shouldnt have lured Harry in in the first place, as he could have gotten the prophecy by himself and then search Harry and kill him. Narcissa wasnt able to withstand his legilemency, he just didnt use it on her, because he was so sure Harry is dead, because something felt different to him and thats due to the fact that he destroyed the connection between him and Harry. His AK didnt work in the forrest because Harry was willing to die, and therefore it only destroyed the horcrux within Harry.
@@RKIJSITFAHCWGOR Unicorn blood only keeps you alive from death. That’s all it does. It does not give you extra energy or make you invincible and overtly powerful. There’s nowhere in HP lore that’s states that. So Quirell was too weak to cast AK because he was dying which is why he drank the blood. Voldy lured HP to the Ministry in hopes that DE would kill him once they get the prophecy until they frigged up the plan, then he had to show up and try to kill HP but ended up fighting DD. Even to the point he tried to kill and remain concealed by possession of HP, but that failed too, as HP fought off the possession and he got caught in the process. I never said he used it on her, I said he trusted her out of desperation. We all know HP was an accidental Horcrux to Voldy, so when he severed the connection he gotten significantly weaker because now he only has 1 left in Nagini. So he trusted her because she was Malfoy, a loyal DE who personally had a stake in the battle as Draco was a DE too. He even checked after by casting crucio which Harry took like a champ and he assumed he was dead. That’s his error. In reference to AK not working, I’m talking about the final battle where HP being the actual beholder of the Elder wand and not Voldy. Naturally The wand sided with HP. He used AK on Harry in the final battle as HP used Expelliarmus to disarm. Technically he only had 2 chances to kill Harry that he DIDN’T take and that was The Forest Pt. 1 and The Graveyard. Every other time he took a chance to kill him but failed.

It has been implied that Narcissa is a skillful Oclumens. She was able to lie to Voldy and him not able to detect her lying. Whether he used Legilimens or not we won’t know unless JK says and I’ll give you that. Yes in the 2nd forest encounter that is correct, HP selflessly sacrifices himself. But this could be held in regard too, the wand killed the piece of Voldemort in HP, not technically Harry. The wand knows who it’s master is, that’s why HP didn’t die at that point. That in itself could be a good topic to debate.

Very interesting I like your videos and all your different theories. But you could say that quill wanted to use the stone to bring back his master Voldemort. Therefore he could never get the Stone from the mirror because she still wanted to use it, where Harry did not want to use it he wanted to get the stone to keep it away from quill and from Voldemort therefore never using it

Voldemort's biggest mistakes were pride and fear. He feared Harry/Neville before he was even born! He feared them so much he tried to kill Harry as a baby instead of continuing the war that he would have won as Harry could not face him for at least four years, and in that time he would have won the war! He feared Harry as a 1st year as he knew Harry had the stone, but didn't try and take it at once but wanted to show Harry he was still alive. Tom Riddle wanted to prove Voldemort's powers to Harry instead of just killing him. In the graveyard he needed to prove to the Death-Eaters who was the stronger, knowing once he dealt with that pesky protection enchantment he could kill Harry, but his pride stopped Lucius Malfoy from aiding him, which led to Harry escaping and he was filled with fear as Harry had just proven himself to be a threat! He feared Dumbledore. He didn't face him until he thought he had nothing to gain by hiding when the prophecy was destroyed. When he found out about the twin cores he was glad, so he got a new wand and he knew he would win now, and he failed again! This filled hin with fear as he now had to except that Harry was a legitimate threat to him! "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approches" the prophecy said and Harry had just defeated the Dark Lord when it should not have been possible! He feared Harry so much he went into hiding, and Harry used the same move against him, both inducing fear in their enemies. He feared Harry so much he used that Harry was not afraid of Voldemort to his advantage by tabooing his name! He feared Harry too much to read his thoughts or poses him again and his fear of Harry opened his mind to Harry and later show him where the Horcruxs were. It was here that Voldemort went from being worried about Harry to truly fearing him "the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches" When Harry told Voldemort who the Elder Wand's true master was, Voldemort was too scared of being called weak or a coward that he tried to use the Elder Wand anyway! Pride and fear were Voldemort's weaknesses and why he didn't win.
There’s no way that he could’ve killed him in the forbidden forest in the first book because of the fact that he was so drained he wouldn’t have been able to use such powerful magic like the killing curse. Also, he wanted to use the stone for Voldemort so he actually did want to use the stone so he would not have been able to get it out of the mirror.

Dean, I agree that Voldy had a lot of unused chances, but there is the reality that he would have had to cast Avada Kadavra twice if I had taken one of these opportunities. This is because the first time would have only destroyed the Horcrux within Harry. The "Boy Who Lived" would have most certainly not allowed Voldemort to strike twice in one setting. Voldemort is a card carrying member of the super villain fraternity. He gloats when he should just act. He lets incompetent underlings do the job for him, who then fail. Lastly, he will then explain his nefarious deeds so the hero can figure out how to beat him.
I don't really count the forbidden forrest as a missed opportunity, at this time voldemort still did not understand why he he lost to harry the first time, so I can't blame him for not trying to kill him the same way as the first time. I also disagree on the second duel as well, I think Voldemort had to prove to his follwers that he could best Harry so I don’t think he really had much of a choice here either.
Alternative Title: Why being a flamboyant psychopath lost Voldemort both wars. Antisocial Personality disorders turn people into top notch predators provided they have got the brain power for it, but does make them too impulsive and egomaniacal for the boring pragmatic stuff that gets things done. I think for the first incident in the forbbiden forest, maybe there is a part of Quirell that resisted the idea of killing a child. Quirell was eager to prove himself, but he probably didn't know what he signed up for. As for the use of the killing curse maybe there is some sort of retribution tu the use of it. If i remember well, killing someone in the magical world mean fracturing your soul. So maybe the deatheater who cas a very direct mortal spell can feel his soul being fractured wich would mae it hard for him to sustend on a battlefield. (And since Voldemort soul was in such a bad shape already maybe he could cast it as much as he wanted ?)
Deatheaters killed without remorse all the time. Frequent and targeted murders was another way they terrorized the wizarding community during the first wizarding war. When wizards saw the dark mark in the sky it meant Deatheaters had killed yet another person or group. Anyone Voldemort sent to kill Harry would have killed many times before.

Seems like you never read the books or watched the movies. He had to kill Poter himself or everyone would think he is weak or has a weakness. So letting some one else killing him is a no go. There's no real explanation as to why Voldemort/Quirrell backed down under the threat of a centaur. As for the graveyard, it's quite clear that Voldemort failed to kill Harry due to his own arrogance. However, at this point, it was already too late for Voldemort, technically, once he took the blood. Even if he'd hit Harry with the killing curse right after being reborn and didn't take any chances, Harry would still be tethered to life by the blood Voldemort put in himself.
Then he could've just ask his death eaters to hold him and then grab a knife and cut his throat or smth, unless harry's magical protection provides instant healing/regeneration i don't think anyone can survive that

Ecen if Voldemort tried to do Harry in earlier, there is still one piece of the equation left out: Harry is a horcrux himself. This was from when Voldemort killed Lily. She turned to protect Harry, do the Arvada Kedavra that hit Lily did not hit Harry. A piece of Voldemort was left in baby Harry.
When I read “The Order of the Phoenix,” Harry shouts at his friends for having to survive death more than once, because of everything he went through at school.
To be honest there was many occasions Voldemort could have killed. Back then he was just a child and it had been easy for him or his death eaters to just go to his home or in the school to assassin him. What Voldemort wanted was a big revenge on a combat-ready Harry Potter and glance in his power by defeating him infront of a big audience; In sucess would shock the rest of the Wizard World and make them surrender fast. To kill for example a 10 year old harry would be seen as weak and laughable, not to forget all the attention he would brought to himselfe.

The loving sacrifice protection is the most soft magic/deus ex machina/plot armor bs out there. In theory Voldy could not kill him until Harry chooses to die. If it was a limited thing that was used up after Quirrell crispified then yes it is valid. Granted it should have been used up after the first ak already. The ministry was doomed to fail always. The only successful way to do it is have a non-Snape potioneer brew it and Voldy go in.

I don't agree that he had him in the woods because the memory of Tom in the Diary hesitated & I think it is because Voldemort wasn't certain how to go about this & avoiding getting harmed again in his weaken state. With the Philosopher's Stone Quirrell was acting on Voldemort's will & wanted someone to use it but Harry only had his will that none use it. Voldemort couldn't have killed Harry himself in the cemetery, it is well-established their wands would not have allowed it due not only to the twin cores but the blood love protection spell. Voldemort was certainly not going to kill like some common Muggle with a knife & Voldemort would have been shown as weak to let another kill him. These are reasons why he didn't lead in the department of magic. He didn't know how to kill him. now Voldemort's pride and arrogance as well as his fear caused his downfall. Hattie had a little more humility and respect for his opponents it would have been much different.

You are right about all of these times excluding one tiny detail- The fact that Harry was a Horcrux meant that Voldemort would only destroy the Horcrux. And if Harry wakes up like nothing happened then it might have bought him some time, with Voldemort and especially his DE had an idea that Harry might be immortal somehow.
Voldemort could only destroy the Horcrux and not Harry because Harry was actually willing to die and because the Elder Wand wouldnt kill Harry himself as he was its true owner at the time. The fact alone that Harry was indeed a Horcrux means nothing.
@@RKIJSITFAHCWGOR I still think the Horcrux will die first. But then again it didn't prevent Voldemort from not being fooled and shoot another killing curse at Harry if he saw Harry is still alive even if he didn't know about the Horcrux he created by mistake.
@@eranshachar9954 No if Harry wasnt willing to die and Voldy werent using the Elder Wand, then the Avada Kedavra would have killed both, Harry and the Horcrux, at the exact same time. Then Harry would be dead and Voldemort would be a bit weaker.

you forgot my favorite "ALMOST" moment... in the Deathly Hallows when they go to Godric's Hallow and Nagini is BINDING Harry so Voldemort can arrive and finish the job. Harry being able to hear Voldemorts thoughts and know he's on the way really was such an intense read.
