In this Video I do a Deep Dive With Sky Walker Steele On how Mike Zimmer Will Clean Up the Cowboys Defense in 2024. Thank you for Liking Sharing and Subscribing... Here’s a link to Skywalkers Channel: www.youtube.co...
Thank you guys for giving real truthful analysis about the GB loss. Too many people used terms like "low energy", "lazy", "undisciplined" as reasons why we lost. The truth is we had glaring deficiencies that couldn't be masked vs a team built to exploit our deficiencies AND led by a good HC capable of game-planning to take full advantage.
Being a Packers fan I’ve seen a lot Zimmer’s defense and I can say that he used to give Aaron Rodgers FITS. Rodgers had a lot of respect for Zimm and didn’t shy away from saying it. That said, trying to put this scheme in place in one year is setting him up for failure. He needs at least one full year with free agency and a draft to cover his bases. Cowboys D have nice pieces but I don’t know how they fit in Zimm’s defense because technically it’s still Quinn’s defense with the guys he wanted for his scheme. First thing for this defense is to stop the run and clog the middle with a big Strong nose like Lindval Joseph. Right now, they don’t even know who’s going to start. Then there’s Osa at 280 who is good but very light inside. You don’t stop the run the rest doesn’t matter. Then there’s the Harrisson Smith role. This dude made everything possible in the back end allowing Zimm to do all sorts of things. He could cover TEs, cover deep like a top safety and he could play in the box like a starting LB. Right now Dallas doesn’t have a guy like that. Then with all the a and b gap and safety pressures, corners were often left on an island, Diggs is back but will he be his old self from the jump? In all, Zimmer is a great coach and will have fun with guys like Micah and the LBs. I hope for you guys that he will get more than a year to prove himself.
@@JerC-h3q yep, have been saying this right when Zimmer got hired. I think Diggs will be good. He was great the squating technique that Quinn had him in. There were a lot of times that we would get best on deep comebacks and on double moves. Bland is great in ZONE coverages and I think Zimmer will play more quarters than Dallas fans have seen, so he will fit in. He also has great footwork in off ball. I’ve been saying the same thing about what Smith brought to Zimmers D and you are right, there is no one that can even come close to what he did, hence what I said about the more quarters and even “country quarters” We will see what Zimmer does with that spot. If the 0,1. 2i, and 3 techs can just be stout, they do not necessarily have to get off blocks, want them to absorb those doubles on the IZ and DUOs. If they can “sit down” and take on those doubles then Kendrick’s and Clark can be free to play A-C and fold back. Lastly, yes, Dallas has to give Zimmer a few years. It’s all Quinn’s personnel.
I’ve always argued that the defense was more at fault in the Packers game and that DQ was outclassed by LaFleur. That said, sometimes the offense have to help the defense. As Sky said at the 14:51 mark, 4, 88, 87 and 20 needed to match GB’s offense and they simply didn’t. Sometimes you have to win 38-35 type games
Got to. Remember Dan Quinn was head coach of Atlanta falcons that blew biggest lead in super bowl history bad play calling out then out of field goal range where's as quarterback got sacked for a loss lost yardage so had to punt the ball . He led the biggest collapse in super bowl history so he wasn't t that good of a head coach overrated good off Ed naive lines rolled will mcclays and his defensive linemen off the line of scrimmage in green bay embarrassing game he's way overrated no way patriots should have won that super bowl Brady made a fool out of him and coaching staff Arthur blanks is in Jerry Jones category asa owner. Neve5 getting a shot at Superbowl again one time and done . . Woke boys not winning with lance or Prescott . . Not near good enough . Woke boys will cut rush to keep lance so Jones maybe can save face for stupid trade. Sameoldsame old . Lose if can even get into playoffs with no defensive line all mcclays busts gone from last year no improvement Zimmer doesn't have the horses in on d. Line can't stop the run . ‼️🐺🤠
You won’t know what the cowboys will be in that’s the biggest difference. You can’t read what they’ll be in before the snap. Everything is after the snap that’s when shit causes the most problems. That’s when Dbs Jump routes Lb make quicker reads. And safeties see the field I believe this defense will be the best version out of all Dan Quinn’s defenses.
What you're saying is, Dan Quinn's defense was designed to play most teams most of the time. But those teams his defense didn't match up well against, he didn't adjust his coverage. To me, this says he was outcoached in those games. In my mind, this was a "fire-able offense." DQ shouldn't have just left on his own, he should have been fired. Period. When I look at Dan Quinn, he did a great job getting talent in here and improving the defense. But he stayed too long. I'm sooooo glad we got Zimmer. He gives Cowboy's fans a reason to have hope. Last note: McCarthy and Zimmer used to be division rivals. Now they're on the same team. Honestly, if I'm Jerry Jones and these guys are running over people in the middle of the season - I extend both of their contracts. TIP: You should put links to your guests' channels and other social media.
@newlenmedia: Before the Green Bay game there were zero mumblings, zero utterances of Dan Quinn being fired as DC of the Cowboys l. What are you talking about? One thing Quinn doesn't get credit for is putting Dak right back on the field after creating turnovers. What Ive noticed about Cowboys fans over time is that 1. Immature in thinking 2. Spoiled beyond belief 3. Exhibiting very unrealistic expectations unto the team. 4. And this is key THEY BLAME EVERYTHING WRONG ABOUT COWBOYS ON EVERYONE ELSE EXCEPT THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES WHO PLAY THE GAME
@terrenceliburd8655 I never said there was any talk of DQ getting fired. I said that I think right after that GB game he SHOULD have been fired. His defense stopped no one. You want to blame the players? That's on you. I can see their scheme was bad which didn't put their players in the right position to make a stop. GB did whatever they wanted on the ground and so did every other team with a ground game. This is what Foots and Sky talked about in the video above. Did you even watch it? I'm not immature. I'm not spoiled. I don't have unrealistic expectations. I don't lay all the blame on everyone but the players. This team is what it is. What I expect from professional managers and coaches is to do the things necessary to win. That's what they're paid these huge salaries to do. How am I spoiled? Did I state that I think they should have won anything beyond what they have, let alone a Superbowl? No. Did I state any unrealistic expectations? No. But my expectation is to hold whomever is responsible accountable. Period. Nothing more, nothing less. The Dallas Cowboys don't do a good enough job of this all too often. They extended Garret and they never should have. He did not deliver on anything other than mediocrity. I say that not because I think the fans deserve better. I think the organization and the players deserved better. Now if you want to call all of that immature, spoiled, unrealistic and wrongly placing blame, then you need to reassess your definitions of those words. Finally, none of those things have anything to do with the Dallas Cowboys fixing their issues on defense, which is what the video and my comment were about.
C.D. 4 for 132, 103gdt. Parson 7 for 200, 137. Dak 4 225, 173.5 gdt ! Osi 3 for 44, 24 gdt . Bland 3 for 41; 21 gdt, Restructure still 3 for 46! 2 mil a in @ year, 2 mil sign-in bonus......
I am also a huge Slam fan and now he is out for the entire season with torn ACL/MCL. This was going to be his pro bowl year. Wishing him all the best for a solid recovery.
We were terribly undisciplined under Coach Quinn and while we were tops in turnovers our "Run Defense" was Horrible! (16th, 22nd & 20th) Last 3 seasons!
Dan Quinn is obviously a good coach, but he is too predictable and gets out classed by the better offensive minds. You cant credit the amount of turnovers all to him, dallas has ballhawks on that d. There is a ton of talent on that side of ball, but his scheme lefts some huge holes and when exposed the guy couldn't plug em.
Exactly. That’s why Im glad we got Zimmer. Someone who has been to Big games and experiences that we haven’t had that he can help us out on. I do think he’s gonna provide more physicality and discipline along with better plays.
OK one of the best videos in awhile. Gave me hope for 2024. Agree the defense was awful when the "O" was struggling an they couldnt pin their ears back. The most common story was the opposite=the offense needed to put up 30. Love the film breakdown and showing how we can take on the top 5 offenses via discipline but also disguising stuff up. GW gents.
That’s what I’ve been saying about last season. Dan Quinn’s defense was smoke and mirrors. Then the defense didn’t show up when it mattered and DQ got rewarded with a HC job.
He couldn't change looks at the end of the season have to change with every team the same look those Qbs are smart they can read a defense better try to fool them
Quinn should have been fired but the commands will can him. In a couple years when they struggle to stop the run and when Quinn refuses to adapt and adjust his defense
I wonder if Micah has the mental ability to figure Mike's system? Maybe Dan allowed him to do whatever he thought best rather than asking him to be disciplined and giving someone else the sack or play. I think Micah expects the catering and Mike ain't the catering type. I think pride can become too much of a problem and maybe that's part of why Dallas can't win the big one. Entitlement...
Great breakdown and analysis of Zims scheme and the Safteys Sky. Especially Donos early yrs. He cant play Up top, but hes a baller if used right... u just got another subscriber if I don't forget by the end if the vid
Great video per usual Foots! I am a little confused on the comparisons between Mike Zimmer and Macdonald though. If you could explain it to me that would be great. Thanks!
I know I've said this before but I love when you can watch a podcast and get the facts ,no finger pointing ,nothing but the facts of the game ,real professional you and sky 2 of the best in the business.
I can’t wait for this defense to keep relying on Micah parsons to do it all and keep doing the same shit and get doubled or tripled and expect a different result but in the end it won’t work weather they make it to the playoffs or have a 6 to 7 win season maybe 8
I disagree with you guys about Micah. He only needs to be on the edge during passing downs. He can play LB on non-passing downs. As an undersized Edge, Micah can’t play the run well at that position AND it’s easy for good OCs to attack him with the run to prevent 3-and-long situations.
@cowboysnationtv5538 - I respectfully disagree that it would be a mistake to play Micah off-ball. I don't want him off-ball on passing downs, but I also don't want him to play Edge on running downs (especially against trams with a strong run game). Micah's edge rushing ability is moot on running downs. But his athletic ability could be a huge asset as a LB on running downs.
@@C2Poke he shouldnt be playing off ball at all. coaches have said and also a teammate. standup yes at LOS but having him with heels at 5-7 yrds is just stupid
@travisoshea - The stupidity is in your comment. Micah was drafted #11 overall for what he did as an OFF-BALL LB at Penn State. Micah on the LOS is darn near worthless against the run. He wouldn't be worthless against the run as an off-ball LB. In fact, Micah could have Fred Warner level impact on 1st and 2nd downs as an off-ball LB. THEN, Micah could play Edge in 3rd down passing situations. You simpletons need to stop talking as if Micah can rush the passer every down.
Dan Quinn defense wasn’t sustainable. It really never has been when it’s been punched in the mouth I mean do i need to bring up the falcons superbowl ? They were crushing shit at first just like Dallas does. But when adjustments need to be made on the fly he “trust” his defense until he’s figured out and the adjustments are always minor

It’s considerably worse than people think!! We need help from the WHOLE TEAM!🤬
@@TILIS214 nope you are beyond wrong. You need to try again, BRO haha You need to learn how the games are played and not rattle off stat sheets. Quick questions for you? Was Dak a big reason as to why Dallas got beat up on vs Green Bay? Also, what is McCarthys role in this? And lastly, what are the stats vs the playoff teams?
@@TILIS214 and you do realize that your very first stat is super inflated with this past Gb game, hope you can come to a realization of that one at least, so try again, BRO
@@travisoshea lmao you talking to the wrong guy my boy. Before this post I didn’t include this year and it’s just as bad. I did that bc Gus like you wouldn’t let me live about the GB game. Take them out yourself it’s easy then tell me it’s not still horrible!!!
