I feel you could've just done the finished line work for the squidopus because it's a simple cartoon and skipped the sketch layers. Your instructions, however, are very helpful, and chill. Thanks!

Loving this Fresco series. Quick question, What are you using to record your screen and yourself? Love the layout and was wondering how you were achieving that. Thanks for posting!

Thanks! I just recorded my screen on my iPad. It’s a native feature. And then I just laid that clip onto the background next to a cropped video of me talking.

Quick fun fact about owls: they do not have eyeballs! They have stationary "eye tubes", and that's why their heads rotate 270 degrees . Anyway, super cute animation! :)

Yes, Chris, I totally agree with you on Fresco for what I use it for too. It is actually just perfect. Procreate kinda came in underneath, and Dreams a little too much for my use. I love Fresco and use it always now because of your Dracula and “bat” video. I flipped. I had no idea it could do that. Now I’m hooked. And I adore your owl and fireflies lol…and the squid! 🤩

Hi Chris, you're amazing at what you do and very good at explaining. Are you planning on doing a tutorial on masks? - I'd be soooooo happy. I find them so confusing 🫣 Sometimes they’re red, sometimes they're not, you can reverse them, hide layers, reverse them again, blend….🤯

Could you suggest a video that gives tips on choosing color out lines that go with the main colors? I notice many artits do this for their outlines such as a dark purple outline for a purple owl rather than a black outline. Is there a general rule or do we just outline a darker version of the color choosen for the majority of the character?
@chris-piascik
@chris-piascik 7 месяцев назад
I don’t have any videos to suggest but there’s no real rules. For that kind of thing maybe just select the fill color and then open up the color picker and slide it down a little bit to make it a little darker until you get the results you’re looking for.

Well you could export an MP4 from Fresco and import that into Dreams.

Hi, I'm new to Adobe fresco and I just want to make an easy animation where different layers become visible throughout the animation. (The layers don't have to move.) However, it doesn't seem possible to make a layer hidden on one frame and shown on the next frame? Does anyone have a solution to make this kind of animation?
@robertfulton4232

Hey question could you have them flicker between the eye colour and the nose colour? Like the “glow”
@chris-piascik
@chris-piascik 9 месяцев назад
Hmm, I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but that could likely be done with just a few frames with the color on and off.
@robertfulton4232
@robertfulton4232 9 месяцев назад
@@chris-piascik yes that worked for me slightly shifting the white-yellow to a light orange-yellow really pops the flickering
@robertfulton4232
@robertfulton4232 9 месяцев назад
I meant using the colour sample from the eye like you did and the nose colour and bounce the colours Back and forth

Is it possible to have something conforming to a path? Let’s say that I draw a snake, I can make it go wiggle wiggle with frame by frame animation. And then I could draw a path that it moves along, but apart from the wiggle it would be “stiff” I’d guess? Is there a way to have the whole snake body (in this example) following a path? Twisting the whole thing in the direction of the path if you get what I mean.
@chris-piascik
@chris-piascik 9 месяцев назад
You might be able to get close by setting it to align with the path, but it sort of sounds what you want to might require full on frame by frame.
@DominusFeles
@DominusFeles 9 месяцев назад
@@chris-piascik I'm gonna look at align with path 😃 And yes, it may require a full on frame by frame, just thought there might exist aye magic tool somewhere as often seems to be the case with Fresco ✨

You can export an MP4, GIF, or PNG sequence from the export menu, just choose motion at the bottom.

I am a little lost on the “5 WAYS” to animate.. I did not see 5 different ways to animate.. I saw the 1st one when you used the motion path, but the 2nd and 3rd with the squid and the fire…FOR ME, they looked like the same way to animate, frame by frame but just different images.. can you break this down and show me the 5 “DIFFERENT” ways to animate? I LOVE you and your channel and watch it daily (even rewatching videos.. LOVE them) BUT in this video, I am sorry, I didn’t see 5 “different” ways, please point them out for me
@chris-piascik
@chris-piascik 9 месяцев назад
Sorry if they weren’t clear. 1. Moving an object a long a path 2. Frame by frame 3. Frame by frame animation set on a motion path 4. Motion in place (path features used without a path, simply adjusting the settings without any additional drawing or path creation) 5. Animating within a clipping mask Hope that helps.
