Jason, I got back into seriously practicing technique again recently, and a huge part of it has been your multitude of incredibly intuitive tutorials. keep doing what you're doing.
You can come up with some cool stuff with slower tempos! Also, we just published a new video for riff ideas here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D1FzNA--_jE.htmlsi=2PW6mGGWEHR3XuqY
Im so glad to see that you didnt completely ditch the 7 string. I'd lend you my 8 string for a bit if you wanted to try one. No problem whatsoever. Shipping wouldnt be too crazy and it would be super cool to see my axe in a YT vid.
This style is a major part of my own sound man! From my very soul! I jammed variations of this all night⚔️🤘 I have guitars in d standard and drop c. You inspired me to buy an Ibanez RG7421 7 string tonight. Love the GWAR shirt! You'll always be metal Jason ❤️🔥
.... and if you have a half-assed capeble singer you can intertwine the vocals with the way the guitar plays. And if you wanna completely freak out you shift from playing on 1 to starting at count 2 or 3 or do a quick down/up picking and then let the chord ring. Nice one. Salute.
I mostly play gibsons tuned to drop B or drop A# (i spent all my money on one of the rare baritones). Waiting until i can justify buying a gold top and ill put that in B standard. Any advice you can give on blending doom with other metal genres?
The best advice is just play with your heart and go with what you're hearing inside and feeling. Don't focus too much on any specific genre but allow yourself the freedom to explore
This is called "song writing". You audition a guitar riff until something fits the bass/drum rhythm, assuming the rhythm fits your guitar riff, and there is a bass/drum rhythm to begin with. Again, back to "this is song writing".
