Hey, Justine, I, too, am finding new tricks few and far between these days 😊 but I picked up a further improvement on your sponge dauber application: I believe, it was Nicky Hearts Cards who recommended that before you start, you apply a few drops of embossing reinker to the dauber rather than relying on the ink pad only. It‘s like a kick start and speeds up the process… Kind regards from Bodensee, Nicola
I also gave away all my colored EP. I just use clear or white, most of the time. If I want color, I use colored paper and clear EP. This video made me want colored EP again
I have never used embossing powder before. I'm still really new to card-making. However, I love any ideas that I find here on RU-vid. I also love hearing the baby in the background.
I use clear, black and white. I have quite a few tinsel types that were my mother's that don't work as sentiments or anything intricate, so I will try with the tape. I even have a 3inch roll that would be fun. Thanks Justine!!
Hi Justine... Quick question on the green one that you put embossing powder all over it and then you were placing it in an embossing folder.....do you heat that before you place in embossing folder? Or were you just creating glitter cardstock and leaving it like that to just emboss? Newbie here 😊
These are excellent ideas. Loved the baby advice 😊. I like the way how you cut out a word & used the EP. Remember to use an embossing buddy so EP doesn't get where you don't want it. Love your channel ❤️
This reminder EP video is awesome. Your first one is a keeper too. I remember you showed us how to do sample sheet in the WONDERFUL TECHNIQUE BINDER VIDEO from years ago. ❤
My main problem is cleaning the adhesive from the stencil. What do other posters use? I really would be grateful! Thanks, Justine, for reminding me about this technique.
I gave up trying to use black embossing powder…no matter how well I used my powder tool before hand I always ended up with a messy looking embossing job. So when I want the look of black embossing powder I use Versafine black ink to stamp the image and clear embossing powder for the shine and dimension. I have just a few colors of embossing powders that I received in various kits. For the most part I use ink for the color and clear embossing powder for the shine. The exception is glitter embossing powder…I love the sparkle it gives! One colored embossing powder I have that is like the mix you spoke of is from Brutus Monroe called Sea Sparkle and I LOVE it!!! It is a mix of ultra fine sea foam green and silver sparkle embossing powder along with silver discs approximately 2mm or 1/16-1/8”…it is beautiful! I’d show you an example of it used on a card but I don’t think I can do so in comments. Justine, let me know how to do that if you’d like to see how I used it in a mixed media card. Thank you for all the great ideas you share with us, Justine!
Thanks Justine for reminding me i have a large stash of Coloured Embossing Powders. I have been having so much fun using them that Clear and Black look positively boring now😄
Hi. Thank you so much for sharing this video, it was just what I needed after finding, sorting and gathering all my heat embossing inks, tools and powders together. I think some may be past their prime, I'm loathe to throw them out as the colours are lovely but I don't know if they're meant to be a rough matt finish or if they have just had it. Your timing is perfect, your ideas are great and I'm looking forward to having a fun day tomorrow messing around with them. Thanks again and have a marvellous day. 😊
I made a mix of neon colors that I love. I dont use the colors separately, I don't like them, but together they are terrific. I use clear, white, black, gold and silver.
Loved the trick of the alphabet dies. I never use them! Something I like to do is mix a glitter embossing slightly with black embossing. gives it a hint of sparkle!
I've only bought colored EP on clearance or 2nd hand or sometimes it's given to me. I'm a messy crafter, so I stick to clear EP over colored inks to get the color I want for the most part.
Justine, I’m enjoying all these techniques you say they are old but they are new to me. I did a lot of scrapbooking and other paper craft and just started cards and I love to emboss so thank you for all the videos.
I have so many Colored EP, I just got 4 more last week. I do love them as they can be so vibrant. However many times I used a colored ink and Clear EP over it, but I have been using more colored recently. I like that they can last longer if I dont use them (not forever). Thanks for the ideas, I am going to use a couple of these this weekend.
They are definitely supplies that last a long time. I like that, too! I go through phases with them so it’s nice to come back and revisit them now and again.
I love embossing powders. I have a lot of colors. I only order Brutus Monroe embossing powder his is the absolute best . I have a membership to his embossing powder of the month!
@Justine Hovey • Justine: Have you done any tests, swatches, whatever, with colored inks under colored embossing powders. For example, the same color ink & powder, such as black & black, could intensify the result. Mixing red & yellow might give orange. Think about it. Thanks!
