I have an idea please 🙌 I’m not a designer of any kind and have found your videos amazing. I’ve been binge watching your amazing videos, and showed my son who has Dysgraphia to show him what can be done without having to physically draw! He thinks you’re cool 😎 Anyway, I’m starting an emotional support therapy business, my name is Kelly Shadbolt and I think that in any typeface it looks jarring 🔩😂 I can’t find a way to make the K not look harsh, the DB always look awful together but I want to use my name as my business name! I don’t want it to look like a formal mental health type thing, not super fun either, but it needs to look approachable and supporting 🤗 Please help, any advice would be amazing please! Thank you Will

1.618 * 0.618 = 1 (reciprocals) Divide by 1.618 = multiply by 0.618 1.618^2 = 2.618 This is all approximate, since the proportion is actually [(1 plus the square root of 5) divided by 2] and root 5 is irrational. But 1.618 * 0.618 = 0.999924 so it ain't far wrong. Also, the Affinity tools (Photo and Designer) will let you multiply and divide by 'gr' so you don't have to type out the ratio when you want to use it. I suspect that, like the Affinity tools, you can do math in any Photoshop data entry field. Lifesaver.

I’ve been designing for years and I’ve never used the golden ratio or any well known guide. I just don’t understand it and it restricts my creativity! I kinda feel like a fraud for not using them. I probably use my eye and personal taste too much lol

You probably get in the ballpark of the golden ratio without trying just by doing what looks good.

@@diregnome4898 you’re not wrong dude. I’ve noticed a few times I’d just freestyle it and then try to use the ratio only to find I was very close or right on it. Funny how that works!

Fibonacci is an APPROXIMATION of golden ratio. Just make a circle/box and multiply/divide by 1.618. No inaccurate fibonacci boxes....

I feel like some parts weren't really explained. Like the website segment. Around 7:11 you mention that there is some examples on the screen of websites using the golden ratio, but we just see kind of a test? It would be interesting to see a more « in depth » demo.

It's pretty normal. It's kind of like expecting me to hand letter the type instead of using fonts. Or expecting me to design a font and only use that. Designers use assets :)
