Just want to see a new weapon type, it has been a long time since we got a new weapon in the mainline series, and I don't mind getting some weapons from frontier either.

Do you want a new weapon type? I know there are tons of weapon in the series already, and it takes creativity and innovation in order to make a weapon that feels unique and has its own personality. So far all of monster hunter weapons are able to do that and allows players to truly express themseleves on how they would tackle a challenge. Edit: thanks so much for the comment and sharing your ideas. It is so great to see monster hunter fans are so creative and can see the series having so much potential.

I definitely wish gauntlets were in the game. Punching a dinosaur just seems very fun to me.

Awesome video idea! I think a great transforming blunt weapon would be a mace that transforms into a flail. Having the chain could also be used to grab on to monsters or give you some interesting movement options.

im pretty new to the series but I guess for a ranged weapon you could have are throwing spears/harpoons that you pick up again by mounting/grappling that monster part which triggers a melee combo across all different hit parts or something

I think it's important to consider how new weapons would interact with the other classes, a lot of weapons-ideas people have are often redundant. That being said, there are 3 weapon ideas I had for a long time: 1. A beginner friendly range-weapon, since range-combat is very different to melee-combat. A weapon with quick movement, range and a inherit small shield. Similar how many hunters consider SnS to be a introduction weapon. This weapon could be some kind of pistol that uses bow-gun ammo, or a modified slinger. 2. As opposed to a weapon that buffs the group, a weapon that debuffs the monster would be interesting. Not just the classic poison, sleep and paralyze debuffs, more direct debuffs, something closer to the wyrmstake shot of the gunlance or the hardness-reduction of the clutch-claw to specific bodyparts. Maybe making the clutch-claw it own weapon-class, by expanding the move-set with non-clutch moves. Something like a short-sword and clutch-claw type of weapon. Those two weapon ideas could be combined eve, a one-headed range-weapon that debuffs the monster. 3. Less of a new weapon-type, but more a modification to the current weapon-system. Similar to how GL, BG and Bows have inherit difference between weapon-linages (Different amount of ammo, different special ammo etc.), this could be expanded for the other weapons which do not have one yet. For example, the Tonfas could be a blunt-dmg alternative line for DB, Lances could have a heavy shield variant with in-build Guard-up. This wouldn't require new animation or move-sets, but would still increase the variety even further.

For my list is: - Chain Blades some being Blunt and others Slice damage - Spear Pistols basically the Attack on Titan DMTs and thunderspears, a lot of movement and a kinda fusion of Clutch Claw and Wirebugs movements of evasion being Slice dmg with a special that shoots a "thunderspear". - Switch Nunchucks like King Cerberus of DMC 5, that change for Nunchucks and Whip, a Elemental Blunt dmg weapon - Crossbow that focus on charge the Arrow(or each arrow for charge) and shoot all, with a Ballista mode that shoot faster or shoots traps on monsters to restric their movements for a while(like the vine traps, not the capture traps)

I've thought about this a lot, focusing on existing game mechanics and programming code, I came up with a weapon that follows some of the design philosophy and ideas they've had for the past few years. My idea would be a large hunting spear with a rope or chain, a fast mid-range poking weapon with a few short jumps or hops with a focus on evasion, the idea being that use the spear to sort of pole vault out of danger. The more unique aspect of the weapon would be the rope or chain, allowing the hunter to throw the spear a short distance as a harpoon with the follow-up to either pull the spear out for a charged burst of damage with a bonus to vulnerable or breakable areas to highlight the idea that you're really tearing it out of the monster. Or to pull the hunter to the spear, with a short jump once you reach its location, you don't get the large burst of damage, but you're now in the air above or next to the monster with the option for diving attacks and possibly a chance to mount depending on where on the monster the spear hit. Ideally, the aerial attacks of the spear would all have a focus towards piercing dives towards the ground so that it's not competing with insect glaives aerial role. The programming code for this would be based on things like silk binds and clutch claw, just reworked for the spear weapon, a weapon with chances to mount also follows with what they did in rise. Looking at more advanced techniques, I would allow for the hunter to cancel out of the pull towards the monster mid-way, retrieving the spear and going into a standard combo, the ability to quickly throw and pull yourself towards the monster, should give a lot of mobility options to skilled hunters. Risks of the weapon would be landing this spear in an awkward or unhelpful locations, or pulling yourself directly into a monster's attacks. For more complex attack features, requires the rope or chain coil, the weapon comes in two parts, one is an oversized spear to fit in with all monster hunter weapons, the second is a rope coil, this would take the form of a disc like a small shield or buckler on the hunter's arm just like a kinsect. The centre of the coil would feature an elemental or mechanical design element that matches the weapon damage type. The coil can also be used for small slashing attacks as a backup while the spear is embedded in a monster so that the player isn't left unarmed. This coil would facilitate the weapon's heavier attacks, similar to the charge blades elemental hits, this effect should be charged up by hitting with normal attacks and filling a bar similar to weapons like the long sword or switch axe, using larger attacks like combo finishers creates a small elemental blast that drains the bar by small set amounts based on the attack. Throwing the spear and tearing it out discharges the entire bar and deals extra damage based on how much it was filled prior to the throw. The visual of this would be the rope cracking with lightning, in the colour of the weapon's element, for a second before there's an explosion at the spears' location as it's pulled out and returned to the hunter. Ideally this concept would allow for multiple play styles depending on the monster you're fighting, either you're constantly using your larger attacks and depleting the gauge and lowering the damage to your big tear attack in favour of faster and more constant damage combos, or you're only using light attacks sacrificing some of your bigger hits in combat to maximise the coil gauge so you can get a huge hit for huge burst damage on a weak spot or to easily break a specific area. This also effects the weapon's mobility in combat, if you're saving up energy on the gauge you can't throw the spear so you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the mobility of pulling yourself towards the monster, on the other hand if you don't care about the big tear attack you can throw yourself around without any worry to stay close to the monster and keep up more consistent damage.

Rope Dart: give it an optimal operating distance between the longsword and the bow, give the iron tree cutting damage and the bone tree blunt damage, low damage but fast attacks for optimal elemental and status damage dealing, and a flowing moveset based around attaching to or wrapping around the monster and pulling yourself to or around it like the clutch claw. Combat Censer: a round spiked cage the size of a grapefruit with a flame inside, connected to a haft by a short length of chain, and paired with a shield. Hunter uses different types of incense, crafted and loaded like bow coatings, which are burned to produce smoke as attacks are made. The smoke lingers like Kinsect sparks and produce either a debuff/element blight effect on the monster or a buff or heal on the user and other hunters within range.

My main pick when it comes to adding a new weapon would be a slow pace dual fists weapon but with a twist : Giving the fact that every powering-up weapon in MH powers up by hitting the monster (except LS with foresight slash) I would absolutely love to wield fists that deal decent amount of damage but would focus on a kind of a tension gauge. That gauge would increase by perfect guarding monster’s attacks and the hunter would unleash its power with a big blasting attack that would empty the gauge. Those fists would be the FIRST ever weapon entirely focused on perfect defense. I also can imagine that every perfect guarding could deal elemental damage. Kind of a sekiro/lies of P gameplay for the first time. I’d love this kind of weapon because it would be based on patience and precise mastery of the monster moveset. What do you think of it ?

I think Gauntlets are inevitable, they are the design that comes up the most when people talk about new weapons for MH. We will eventually get them IMO, I just don't know if it will be on Wilds. I don't really like ranged weapons, but I've always imagined a shotgun-like weapon, you shoot a harpoon to tether yourself to the monster so you are always on its face and you don't get all those coatings and ammos, it's just a spread shot that changes element acording to the monster the weapon is based on. Maybe some kind of shield mechanic because you will be on top of the monster the whole fight. I would enjoy a one-handed saber, and then you have to time perfect parries into the fight and they'd stagger the monster, but I can see how that could become very overpowered.

My idea: Longbow, different bows would have different draw speed and arrows (pierce, spread etc) longer draw time means more damage but longer animation. It would be required for all shots to be drawn while stationery, like a long range greatsword. Instead of charging to different levels, changing arrows would happen by inputting a direction while drawing the bow and the critical range would be far, like piercing S + long barrel.

As a Dual Blades main and lover of dual weapons in general I’m also for Gauntlets. I’m down for it being a more grounded rush down version of dual blades. I think a way to set it apart would be to make them a bit bulky almost like the character ‘Jumbor’. Not too big but while DB is the fastest wep followed by LS and SS (which is pretty much the more balanced weapon) it can be less fast and more impactful but less slower than Hammer and GS. I also wouldn’t be against Dual Revolvers that uses a bar to combine/transform into a makeshift sniper. Could be close to mid range and sniper mode would be long and packs a punch (great for catching monsters off guard or stop from running away too far especially if wilds really is a open world). Not sure how’d I feel about revolvers or snipers in MH tho so its definitely a hit or miss suggestion. (Maybe instead a crossbow of sorts but that just sounds like a mix of Bow and LBG) Wouldn’t be my weapons of choice but a Mace could be close to mid range while a Whip could be mid to semi long range respectively. Maybe on the 4th or 5th hit on a combo the attack extends or maybe there’s a bar to charge that fills up and the higher it is when activated that’s how much reach is added.

I think a bowgun offhand and sword main hand would be cool as a hybrid of melee and ranged play. We have hybrid adjacent weapons like Bow and IG (one melee weapon with a ranged attack in ig and a ranged weapon with inate elm damage/melee attacks)

Ah shuriken, that would be interesting. If we are looking it as a main weapon it might be a giant ass shuriken or 2 small ones. There could be a sub weapon system in the future as well, and shuriken is a pretty good one.

i wanna see large bulky gauntlets like Vi's from arcane (i thought it suits the bulky nature of monster hunter weapons) , and instead of it being super "mashy" and quick combos i feel like it should be more focused and centered around timing and opportunity (sorta like boxing) and i've seen people point out the fact that they want kicks but idk that wouldn't really make much sense so i would imagine it more like a medium speed brawler type weapon that throws some nasty hooks and uppercuts maybe even have a meter for it so that when you get better timing it would reward you into a big finisher type move like the longsword anime slash or a rocket powered falcon punch move of some sorts.maybe add a some sort of parry or defense move like putting your hands up to block and voila, you got that mike tyson build you always dreamed of not really sure how sheathing/unsheathing your weapon would look like though so i think that might be enough reason for them to not add it in, if that's not possible then i would love a scythe type weapon

I kinda find it funny they don't have a scythe so I am going to go with that as one of the ones I would like to see. It could be a skill weapon also and fo a somewhat transform version. The skill part is that you can hit with the neck doing some damage; like on par of maybe the sword and shield maybe more maybe less they can tune it out; a good amount of damage when you hit with the blade part and like a critical hit damaged when you hit with the tip. Then it switches to like a rope dart connected to your scythe stick letting you hit farther and can even connect to walls to dangle and get out of attacks fast.
@kkacehstrive
@kkacehstrive 6 месяцев назад
Ah this is a very good scythe idea, i did think of sycthe idea as well. I could only think of a scythe that could switch between short to medium range, from fast low damage to heavy big damage. Yours is way more detailed. If wilds are able to spread out the monsters weak points even more I can see this idea is being used as weapom for those who likes to do precise damage.

Not some bad ideas, but allow me to throw my hat into the ring: How about flails? You could pick between slicing and impact type flails, which have some stand-off range while retaining mobility, focusing on combos and consistent damage output. The biggest difficulty would be to ensure the weapons only inflict knockback on Hunters dealing with an affliction to minimize unintentional stagger.

I have always wanted to see a 2H Battle Axe in the game. Unfortunately, I think the move set and playstyle of the Hammer too closely matches what you would expect to see from a Hammer. That being said, perhaps a Battle Axe could be an off-shoot of the hammer (think switch skills, but bigger). Obviously, this would be a severing weapon and lose the KO advantage. I think it would be really cool if it somehow incorporated bleeds from certain skills (something similar to poison, but not a status).

Gauntlets would be great but transforming gauntlets would be even better. So you start with the first form and punch the monster. Punching the monster will fill up a bar. When you transform the weapon you put them on your legs and now you can kick the monster, run faster and use the bar. Imagine you use the bar to run faster and build up momentum. The momentum charges up like the GS and hammer up to level 3. Each level has a different attack. And at level 3 you run up to the monster and do a roundhouse kick in the face and the monster KO. Wake up hits would be so fun. If under water combat comes back (not gone happen but let me cope) you could swim with the kick Form faster.

No such thing as too many weapons. Gauntlets, which is split into two categories: Blunt - Heavy gauntlets, punching, slow attacks but very powerful, high chance to stun monsters if landing a lot of punches one after the other Sever - Claws, a lot of wild slashing attacks, fight like a rabid animal, fast & mobile, high affinity Or maybe it's all one weapon and you can switch from punching gloves to claws and combine their movesets. And if you time the attacks correctly when switching from punching to slashing, you attack faster & deal more damage. Imagine getting Brachydios' explody punches. Or Odogaron claws. They could also do what Wild Hearts did and have swords that turn into whips. Except intead of a katana, it's a broadsword. Like, a cutlass or a khopesh. Can hit a monster multiple times with one swing. Lots of range and average damage. A mace/one handed hammer that turns into a flail for more range & more impact. Increases part break chance when in flail form. Comes with a medium sized shield that has spikes at the front. If you time a block right, the monster will take damage from the spikes and get pushed back. Or maybe Chakrams. Can be used both in melee & as a throwable weapon. You throw them and they come back like boomerangs. I can even imagine Nargacuga chakrams that look like big shurikens. A rapier that can turn into a spear. A lot of fast thrusting attacks in rapier form, very agile and has high affinity. Slower attack speed and movement in spear form, but has more range and deals slightly more damage. Can charge attacks for more damage & impact, which can push monsters back or knock them to the ground. A while back someone also mentioned something about a ranged weapon that can turn into a chainsaw. Or was it dual axes? I don't remember. Point is, there are a lot of things that they can do weapon wise. I just hope that they *will* actually add at least one or two new weapon types.
@treytison1444
@treytison1444 6 месяцев назад
The two I like here are the one handed flail and the chakrams. There are only 2 blunt weapons and 3 ranged weapons in the series so chakrams would be somewhat like the bow where it's a simplified form of ranged combat where you're just bouncing them off at mid range.

I think one added weap is enough the only problem in world and iceborne are that most weapon designs are half assed or incomplete most of them look the same with just a little bit of twist, I hope they can make weapon designs like nargacuga dual blades or alatreon longsword which really fits the monster it was crafted to,... Though to add I wish they could add a new tech like the string bug from Rise but it would crafted string for the slinger to initiate new combos, which cannot crafted while on hunt and maximum carry of 3 so it would not be overused, you can either use it on a downed monster or for stylish reasons

Ok ive been having these weapon ideas for monster hunter which i wish would be a reality but i doubt it. So I mainly have these weapon ideas: *disclaimer damage capabilities of these weapons are not talked about cuz i believe it should be up to the devs to balance that out. 1. Great Shield - I've always had this idea of a giant shield as a weapon. How i imagine this weapon to be would be a slow hitting weapon like the great sword with big heavy swings, has stun capability with bashing moves, has counter capability like longsword and the defense capability of the lance, maybe better. I know it sounds kinda broken but hear me out, i see this weapon to have a mixed damage type which would be both blunt and cutting damage but it depends on which attack from the move set hits. Given that its a giant shield, moves are gonna be somewhat limited, but i imagine it to have swings where the weapon is hitting the monster with the edge which could be the cutting damage mixed with swings that hits the monster with the face of the shield which would be blunt damage much like lance's shield bash but with a lil more variety? given you can shield bash more consistently, this is where i think it has better stun capability than a lance. As for the counter capability i mentioned, imagine being charged by a monster, you set up a block counter, you block the move then maneuver around the shield using the monster's attack as momentum to swing back for a counter. It would also be nice if you can input a direction into said counter so you can swing towards a certain direction whether its towards or away from the monster. I believe this weapon as a concept seems pretty op so i really have doubts of this being a reality BUT should it ever be a reality im switching from being a longsword main. Also I think this great shield idea is heavily inspired from Shield Hero LOL. 1.5. Great Shield Alternative - I thought of an alternative to this weapon, so instead of having one giant shield to swing around, you could have two heavy dual blade like weapons. Its surely not gonna be as fast as dual blades given its gonna be two pieces of a giant shield. But it could be same swing speed as a switch axe maybe? Idk. This version will lose its stun capability because you wont be bashing anymore. However I think the counter and blocking capabilities still exist. I would imagine the block power wouldnt be as strong as the one giant shield though. This is just a more transformative take to the idea and you did mention in the video of a transforming weapon so i thought of adding it too. 2. Giant Boomerang - This weapon has been an idea already before so its just my inspiration on that idea. Anyway, I see this as a giant bladed boomerang actually. I think this weapon would be similar weight class to the long sword given that this thing should be light enough to fly but MH got its insane hunter weight capability so i think i hunter in MH world coult totally toss a giant boomerang in the air. Anyway, the hunter would hold this weapon similarly to the MH Frontier's magnetic weapon, where in theres a handle in the center. The hunter swings this thing around i would assume in a circular fashion making use of the momentum of the weapon's weight. To which then you can kind of use a charge attack after the momentum builds up then toss the boomerang and it flies towards the monster. Im not really sure what happens during the weapons flight, but I assume your hunter would actually be disarmed in a way and gives you the ability to use items like potions and such which the weapon is flying away from you or coming back to you. This weapon could be a pretty good weapon for epic kills, dunks or even tail cuts cuz of its cool factor. I just realized this weapon could pretty much be a Chakram instead but it just seems so much more fitting to be a boomerang in a new MH title that involves the great outdoors lol. 3. Guantlets - This just needs to be a thing like just punching monsters is like one of the most primal, outlandish and WILD (badum tss) thing you can do in the next MH title. I dont have much to say with this but like the great shield, I got two options for these. Normal guantlets, just simple punching and blunt damage. OOOORRR GUNtlets! Get it? Gun Gauntlets? If youre familiar with RWBY and the character Yang who has gaunlets that can shoot then yeah, pretty much that. Honorable mentions: Tonfas, Chain whip blade thingy, spear type weapons to name a few. etc.

Let me give you a general guideline for a new weapon to be considered. first of all, making a new weapon type means more animation to work with, and most of all, tons of new assets need to be made as well so this is why it has not been added for a while so that the resource can be focused into other things that are deemed more important. it is easier for something similar to a hunting style to be considered since it only involved animation that can be reused from older gen, and repurposed, now that these are out of the way a new weapon cannot replace the other weapon of a similar type, need to offer a unique mechanic and it doesn't necessarily need to be complicated to use, the general rule is easy to pick but have a good enough skill sealing and built potential. a good way to go about this is to look at decoration, and see what type of build that has not been explored yet, that too can be turned into a weapon idea that can be considered. also the idea of transforming weapon is also supported but it need to follow all the previous rules since it is quite resource heavy. and lastly it need to be believable , so it can't be a gunblade at the size of sword and shield, this way it will be put into potential equipment/item instead of an actual weapon. at the moment the sling mechanic is planned to be used as an item that you can equip in your inventory, so it is no longer mandatory like in world, but it serve no purpose asside from that and may not even be used in the final product things that can be used as a sling can be crafted for other use as well. the weapon also need to have a unique silhuoette so it is recognizable, I think this is one of the most imporant part too. and lastly, it need to be fun to use. so generally that is how the approach of designing a new weapon, have fun.

a flail weapon could be cool? basically a hammer but faster and does less damage, could have better reach than the normal hammer and maybe it has an innate mounting setup? or that but a kusarigama since capcom is japanese? hell maybe combine those ideas and do something entirely monster hunter!

Spear/throwing javelin. Much thinner/different to insect glaive, it's always stuck with me from seeing a Palico do it in an early game or something, but SURELY we as cavemen used spears and threw them. a hybrid of melee and ranged combat. could be sick

Spear is such a good idea!

@edgarego5813 6 месяцев назад
given the fact that the game tend to not have mystical element and the weapons are more grounded in reality I don't think it could be done, at least not the throwing part, without magic or some sort of strange trick u couldn't be able to get back the weapon automatically, breaking combos and making the hunter unharmed, like there is no instance in a monster hunter game where u are separeted from ur weapon, maybe a spear that has a moveset that is like an hybrid between the wide circular movements of a insect glave and the thrusts of a lance? this sounds more possible then a throwing spear, still a cool concept

@@edgarego5813I agree. You'd have to build in a mini bow/bowgun or use one off hand.

@@edgarego5813 maybe a chain attached to the spear/javelin would make very much sense. I think the best way to implement it is with the use of some kind of chain in order to both retract the missed shot and to fly towards the monster maybe starting other combos. Plus the lenght of the chain could have different lenght and effects based on the monster it was acquired from

I thought it was funny that you talked about wanting a fast moving weapon with a big blast discharge attack while showing switchaxe footage.
@kkacehstrive
@kkacehstrive 6 месяцев назад
Haha yes, i wanted to show contrast wanting to have somethitg similar to switch axe discharge but way faster. That is the case because of inflicting elemental blight system that is introduced in rise. Atm we could only do that with wild life items that we gather. It would be nice if there is a weapon that could specialize in that.

I have a couple of ideas and want to share them: 1. Is a naginata (or spear). Monster hunter games already have long weapons but they are more shield and a gun than lance so it will be cool to have some sort of shaft weapons with stylish moveset to deal damage 2. Rope dart. This will be a weapon with a distance and kinetic energy managment elements. Like you should be at exact distance from monster while doing exact slash to deal maximum damage. Doesn't it sounds cool?
@samfish2550
@samfish2550 6 месяцев назад
I do like my pole arms but they run into the issue that IG fills that concept and more, implementing aerial combat and your kinsect on top of being a light weight polearm. The rope dart is interesting but I feel it would want something else to make it a bit more extra considering the one hanged sword is about as small as mh seems willing to make their weapons.

Interesting idea, that would be a medium range weapon i suppose. I wonder if that would be considered as slash or blunt damage as per monster hunter standard
@Sunflowa
@Sunflowa 6 месяцев назад
@@kkacehstrive I imagine it would be a medium range weapon with a tipper mechanic to reward proper spacing. I feel like it could be slashing at the whip and blunt at the tip maybe? So you have to choose your spacing as well?

I don’t think we need new weapons. I don’t want capcom to rush their tweaks on pre-existing weapons to fit the gameplay of wilds. Also I’d rather have more/better content for monsters and environment. I wouldn’t be mad if they did add another weapon though.
@notme6753

Could think of gauntlets that fire projectiles on both arms instead of punching monsters 🤷 Oh and also a sword which is slightly larger than a sword and shield or dual blades. This sword is attached to a chain just like the one kratos uses. So this will be a melee and mid ranged type of weapon where you can throw it at the monsters and control it with the chain. I think it would look cool.

I don't really want a new weapon but if we do cool. You say no one used ranged weapons but that's not true. Ranged weapons are overpowered and everyone uses them. You can't go online without someone using lbg. Your gun sword sounds like gun lance and so does your hammer.
@kkacehstrive
@kkacehstrive 6 месяцев назад
When i say no one uses them, it means the percentage of the users who actually use them is lower than melee users. Cool if you think if the 2 weapons seems similar, but i think you are missing the point of my ideas there. Gunblade in my mind here is meant to be mobile weapons that provide constant shelling and blast as a tool to reposition themselves as they want to constantly in close and mid range depending on the situation. While the boom hammer the closest visualization that i can give you is a blunt gunlance that does faster wide swing and explosion upon impact, and some mobility on top. As I said just some crazy ideas, from a monster hunter fan boy.
