Its present in Eastern Orthodox theology. I have a prayer book called the "Light Of The World" by Newrome Press and the third prayer from St Ephrem and in the prayer where Ephrem mentions Jesus as "the Cluster of Grapes, dripping with the sweetness of salvation".....and so forth to show grapes as a link in both in your eschatological view.

Well done Mel. Im not an academic scholar however I often questioned the Abhorrent contents of hadiths !. Yes..your theory makes absolute sense. Hadiths writers were from that part of the world..and yes..they wanted to demean that belief . Totally makes sense to me after 8 years of studying islam as a false religion. I thank you Mel. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺

Arabic has vocabulary from multiple sources. I identify the following six sources: General Semitic; words shared by all or nearly all Semitic languages (in all branches). Mostly directly from proto-Semitic. Example: بيت (bayt) - house North-West Semitic; words/roots shared within this particular branch of Semitic languages, that is Ugaritic, Hebrew, Phoenician, Moabite, Ammonite, Aramaic (all dialects), and Arabic. Example: كتب (katab) - writing, ملاك (malak) - Angel. Arabic specific innovations, and conservatisms. Example: الذي (aladhi) - relative pronoun. South-Semitic or South-Arabian / Ethiopic complex; words between those two sub-branches overlap often. The source is only really distinguishable in two cases: 1. only one branch contains the primitive, more concrete cognate. Example: دجاج (dajaj) - chicken. 2. The word is a loan from a non-Semitic donor language, and the donor is identifiable. Example قلم (qalam) - pen. Loans from a specific Semitic languages. In some cases a loan of a non-Semitic word, through a different language. 1. Persian, and Greek through Aramaic form the bulk, of this specific subset. Example: Greek سجل (sigiil) - to give evidence, Persian: جندي (jundii) - soldier. 2. Loans from Semitic languages are language specific innovations, or conservatisms. Example: باب (baab) - door. Direct loans from non-Semitic languages. Example: موز (muz) - banana. The quranic materials contain words from all previously identified Semitic sources. Direct none Semitic loans I don't know for sure. Arabic is classified as a separate branch of Semitic, namely Central Semitic, but in truth the base is undeniable North-Western Semitic, and the vocab contains a significant minority of South-Semitic. So much so, that I would classify it as sort of a Semitic creole-language. A good portion of the introgression of loans from other Semitic languages must have come into Arabic between between the 1st and 6th centuries, due to increasing influences of Judaism and Christianity in the North-Western Hijaz, and Yemen. And increasing political, military, and economic influences from mainly the Byzantine and Persian empires over that same time period, on the Arab populations. Some words in the quranic materials cannot be explained away as misdoted Aramaic/Syriac texts, or wholesale copies of Ethiopic texts. That is just to simple of a view. But both thematically as well as specific word use, does point to specific documents being used as base to create it. There are way too may synchronisms to deny that. The composers of the quranic materials clearly weren't illiterate, nor dumb. And had a good grasp of multiple languages, including Hebrew, Judeo-Aramaic, Syriac, Ge'ez, as well as Arabic. And I wouldn't be surprised if they knew even more languages, like Greek and Persian.

Very impressive knowledge. I think you are right on this: "A good portion of the introgression of loans from other Semitic languages must have come into Arabic between between the 1st and 6th centuries, due to increasing influences of Judaism and Christianity in the North-Western Hijaz, and Yemen."

@@IslamicOrigins Obviously there were points in history of increased cultural contact where it is likely that loans have introgressed into Arabic and vis versa. A couple of examples: The exodus period throughout the judges period Israelites had both varying relations with the Medianites, both of allegiance, and animosity: OT Jdg. 7:25 - mentions the killing of two Medianite prince's, they had typical pre-Islamic Arabic names ערב (oreb) - crow, in Arabic غراب (ghuraab), and זאב (zeev) - wolf, in Arabic زيب (dhiib). In the Davidic and Solominic period a tributary relation, most likely both Qedarite and Nabateans: OT 2 Ch 9:14 - records Arab King's paying a tribute of gold and silver to Solomon. OT 2 Ch 17:11 - records Arab King's paying tribute of sheep and goats. Military alliance, against the Neo-Assyrian hegemon: Kurkh stele - Battle of Qarqar, during the 9th century, a military alliance between among others King Ahab of Israel and King Gindibu of Qedar (modern day Jordan) fought against the Neo-Assyrian empire of Shalmaneser III. Military conflicts between Judah and its neighbours: OT 2 Ch 21:10-16 - records an alliance of Edomites, Arabs, among others against King Jehoram of Judah. Neo-babylonyan conquest: Nabonidus moving his court to Tayma, in modern day KSA. There is also evidence of Arabic influences on Biblical Hebrew, broken plurals are exceedingly rare in North-Western Semitic languages, including Hebrew. But the default way to form plural nouns in Arabic. Example: Hebrew אנוש (enosh) used as a collective noun for people/humans, mainly in poetic constructions, instead of אמשים (anashim) regular plural for people/humans. Arabic أناس (unas) - persons, people. Formative ע (ayn), in names of animals and plants. Example עקרב (aqarv), Arabic عقرب (aqarb). Though it is hard to tell if these are from Ugaritic or Arabic. And there undoubtedly examples I'm missing specifically from the book of Job.

😂😂😂 first time coming across this channel recommended through algorithms I assume..glad it happened. I am well aware there are lot of poor souls who are spending their lives just to show contempt towards Islam but didn’t realise until now some are going deep like here doing their research and forming opinions of their own. Going thorough some messages I can see this is feeding other disgruntled souls who are relishing. Over 1400 years have passed and Islam is still going strong with ‘Every Day’ people and in some instances the whole families converting to Islam. Islam has already always claimed to be continuity of previous prophetic religions so you would always find some similarities in every sense. Explore Islam first, learn what it is about then and then maybe you will find enlightenment. Else continue on the path of contemptuous life.. All I can say is good luck on your journey 👍

Nice one Mel ephrem is a doctor of the church in Catholic tradition named as such by pope benedict the 14th after the ww1. Ephrem is universally claimed as a saint in ALL the apostolic traditions in the wake of nicea. The pope was keen to promote him as a figure of unity among all Eastern Christian churches after the unthinkable slaughter of the “great” war. His legacy is colossal since the 4th century yet he died as a simple deacon ministering to plague victims at edessa having withdrawn from nisibis after the disastrous campaign of Julian the apostate into Persian territories.

«no reason to desert the opinion which has obtained the sanction of the most competent scholars, that the formation of the Peshitto Syriac was to be fixed within the first half of the second century. The very obscurity which hangs over its origin is proof of its venerable age, because it shows that it grew up spontaneously among Christian congregations...Had it been a work of later date, of the 3rd or 4th century it is scarcely possible that its history should be so uncertain as it is.» Dr. Brooke Foss Westcott, “The New Testament Canon”, 1855 Note: Westcott later changed his mind about the Peshitta, seeing how it often agreed with the Byzantine texts, against his beloved Alexandrian texts. He then concluded that the Peshitta must have been a revision of the Old Syriac (“Introduction to the NT Greek”, 1882).

What I think is the early making of the Arabs religion tried to understand the Christian text, wasn't it a priest that was helping Muhammad or Umar to translate to Arabic? I know it was Jibril in the SIN, but whoever took over that kingdom did not want the Christian identity, so they made up their own religion from borrowed material to their liking, hence all the copy and paste. You look at it like this, Jesus becomes Muhammad (the praised one) The Ark of the covenant becomes Aisha as both were hidden behind a veil, or Mary; Jesus Mother comes Aisha as she is the mother of Islam or both. Moses Tabernacle becomes the Kaaba hence they cover it in cloth. Do you see the similarities they needed their own foundation so the changed out the orthodox early traditions and took on unorthodox / Gnostics approach. Bit like our politics these days left vs right wing, instead you have tradition vs made up from traditions. That brought division and war against the Jews and Christians. Then it became political, so Sharia law came about in the 14-15th century to make it binding / bondage and slaves to Islam law.

What do you think of St Ephrem's historical "hijra" to Edessa, where he spent the last 10 years of his life. Is the hijra a borrowed motif from Syriac culture? The exile who finally fulfills his mission is a key part of the hero's journey in most myths. Was it inevitable to show up in Muhammad's story too?

I think the historical Muhammad Khalid may have been Syriac Christian
@ilanbouwmeester6838
@ilanbouwmeester6838 Год назад
@@RedWolf75 Why would they use بن (ben) as son of in his name then? It would be more logical if it was بر (bar) as in Aramaic or the Arabic ابن (ibn). Early Arabic Christian gospels, which are translations of Syriac texts sometimes use بر and more often ابن. Also why don't the main characters have Christian/Syriac first names? I highly doubt any of the leaders of the hagareen movement were Christian - as in members of any Syriac or Arabic speaking churches. Also their political/military goal to remove any Byzantine or Axumite influence on their region does not conform with Christian ideology of that time.

So Syriac was a dialect of Aramaic and there were other dialects as well. Given the Aramaic words found in the koran, can these words be pinned down to a particular dialect?
@ilanbouwmeester6838
@ilanbouwmeester6838 Год назад
They can with varying degrees of certainty. For instance the word باب (baab) - door, is most likely a loan of Judeo-Aramaic (Talmudic Aramaic), בבא (baba) - gate/door. In Syriac ܒܒܐ (baba) - father, daddy most likely Christian Greek influence. Resulting in بابا (baba) - Pope, patriarch, father.
@IslamicOrigins

@@ilanbouwmeester6838 I think the Talmudic Aramaic borrowed Baba from Akadian Bab/Baba and it came from in turn from Sumerian, so it has a long Iraqi history. One example, Babylon, gate of the gods, if I remember this correctly.

@@IslamicOrigins Exactly. Hebrew mirrors the Assyrian Akkadian dialect in the name of Babylon bab-ilu. Gen 11:9. In the verse בבל (bavel / babel) - Babylon, followed by בלל (balal) - confusion. Hebrew, and speakers of other Levantine languages must have had this association of confusion and babylon, also. Balal is distantly related to מבול (mabuul) - flood, and Arabic بلل (balal) - wetness. All from the root ب-ل-ل / ב-ל-ל / b-l-l related to wetness. The Hebrew and Aramaic בלל confused has to do with herbs mixed with a liquid, specifically oil, to make anointing oil, or with flour to make cake. And by extention mixing of speech, being in a confused state. Funny how mix-up's happen when you're confused in English as well. It is intresting that seperate cultures, and languages (families) use similar metaphorical language, more often than you would expect by random chance.
