Absolutely! Context is everything, and it's fascinating how a single phrase can change meaning completely depending on how it's framed.

Although studying the early church fathers can provide valuable knowledge and insight, our faith must ultimately rest in the Word of God, not in the writings of early Christian leaders. God's Word alone is the infallible guide for faith and practice.

St Paul begs to differ according to 2 Thessalonians 2:15. Both oral and written Tradition are important; in the early years of the Church before the canon of Scripture had been determined, the believers relied a lot on both oral and written Tradition. In fact, one might argue that St Paul's letters and the other epistles were part of written Tradition before they were included in the Scripture canon.

Who do you think WROTE AND ASSEMBLED THE BIBLE???? The protestant paradigm is so biblically and historically illiterate that is just depressing.
@ashleymendes7079
@ashleymendes7079 Месяц назад
@@kardzYT The answer is God. The Bible is divinely inspired, authored by God through the hands of human writers. It was assembled by early Christians who, guided by the Holy Spirit, discerned which writings were truly inspired and aligned with the teachings of Christ. What's truly depressing isn't differing perspectives, but the lack of respect and grace among brothers in Christ. Instead of fostering understanding, there's often division and hostility, especially on the internet. As Christians, we should strive for unity and love, even when we disagree.

@JohnFalstaffMedia You DO know what it actually means..? (There is) no salvation in the Catholic church. Nil salvum extra eclaisium is the original: "no salvation outside (of the) Catholic church." Rather presumptuous, don't you think?

And worshipping on Sunday rather then Gods Sabbath which is Saturday
@JohnFalstaffMedia
@JohnFalstaffMedia Месяц назад
Thank you @FlawlessLSX for commenting. In Episode 2 about the Didache I mentioned how the early Christians (already around the year 60) celebrated on Sunday. They were not celebrating the Sabbath (which you correctly pointed out is Saturday). The reason they did this is because it was the day first day of the week (the eight day) the day God said "Let there be light" (Genesis), the day Christ rose from the dead and also the day when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles. I hope this clarifies how the earliest Christians (the ones that were closest to Jesus) understood the Faith. I appreciate your input and would love to hear back from you! Thanks again @FlawlessLSX!

@@JohnFalstaffMedia that’s okay that the early Christian did whatever on Monday. Remember Peter was martyred in the year 64 and he kept the sabbath. I’m a little confused here. Are you saying Sunday is okay to keep as the sabbath or is Saturday? I apologize misunderstanding. …may God bless you brother

@@JohnFalstaffMedia actually it was Constantine (who was never a christian) that moved the sabbath to sunday; 1. Part of converging paganism with christianity creating the new Roman state church. 2. Roman spite of the jews whom they hated because of all trouble in Jerusalem 70 ad. and before. What your explanation was, just catholic misinformation. Just like the many tales of (st) valentine. Actually a converted pagan sex orgy holiday called lupercalia.

The earliest Christians were 100's of years before the church of Rome. (Circa 300 AD) Note the churches mentioned in Revelation of 80 AD, from Asia minor, without mention of Rome, not to mention the earliest believing Jews.

I'd like to know which popes were mentioned in the new testament. Pontif is the title, from the pagan Roman church, adopted by the papists. So even Julius Ceasar who never knew Yashua, was a pontif. So how is there any Roman (christian) pope mentioned in the Bible, unless the name was added by the false roman church later in the vulgate...

Linus , Clement . Their names are in epistles. Mentioned along with others in 2 Timothy 4:21, as sending greetings to Timothy: “Eubulus sends greetings to you, as do Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brethren.” Irenaeus (Her. III. iii) says that this Linus was given the office of the episcopate of the church in Rome by the apostles Peter and Paul. Linus’ successor, Irenaeus says, was Anacletus (Anencletus), and after him, in the third place from the apostles, Clement was given the bishopric. Philippians 4:3 mentions Clement.
@williamschlosser77
@williamschlosser77 23 дня назад
@cslewis1404 clement apparently was in philipi because Trajan sought him, and eventually, had him executed in 100ad. Philipians was written in 62 ad. 38 years prior. It's possible this is the same clement, but Clement wasn't in Rome for some 38 years? I guess my contention is not so much with Clement, but rather that the Catholic Church, as we know it, did not start until after Constantine the Great, when it became the Roman state church.
