It’s amazing really how Liverpool have gone from some of the worst recruitment in the prem to arguably the best recruitment and transfer policy in the world in the space of 10 years. Michael Edwards is a genius
Even as a Liverpool fan I'd say Union Berlin and Brentford have better recruitment policy but amongst the top sides I think only Bayern and City come close
To be fair, Liverpool have gotten incredibly lucky with some of their recruitment, not to say they are not one of the best currently as they fort sure are but i doubt anyone thought salah, fabinho, alisson, or robbo were going to go on and achieve what they have.
@@caseysteele2736 they use one of the worlds most advanced statistical analyses methods to identify transfer targets. The other clubs that do are Bayern, Union Berlin, Brentford, Man City, Strasbourg, Milan, Venezia and Getafe. One thing they all have in common is an excellent track record in the transfer market. Give credit where it is due.
@@tomspreadbury2915 I was giving credit where it was due, they have a great recruitment policy thats obvious. however you can also be honest and admit they also got a bit lucky, you cant honestly tell me anyone thought salah was going to come from scoring less than 20 in the italian league to scoring over 20 every season since in the prem, or that Robertson who was signed from hull city would go on to become one of the best left back in the world. they did great to scout those players ands im sure they thought they would be good but i doubt anyone thought they would be as good as they have turned out to be.
Cologne after the 2016/17 season in which the qualified for Europe for the first time in 25 years. The sold Modeste, their best goalscorer with about 20 goals in Bundesliga alone, for 30 million to China and replaced him with Cordoba, who scored 8 in all competitions the previous season, for 15 mill. They also overspend on players like mere and jannes Horn. The next season they got relegated to the 2 Bundesliga
Not a rebuild, but Newcastle's summer in 2012 was awful, just qualified for Europe for the first time in years and signed only Vurnon Anita, reached the QF but almost got relegated as the squad was so poor outside the starting XI
@@ryanwarcup7693 And? Which player hasn’t been caught out? My point still stands - from what I remember of Enrique was he was a very dependable left back
In footballing terms I can't see how Barça are #1 for 17-22... they won the league title in 17/18 and 18/19.. reached UCL.. Copa del Rey in 2021. Milan and Liverpool stayed between 6th and 9th for years during their rebuild before they got back to the top. United finished outside top 4 multiple times as well. Many people overlook how increasingly competitive La Liga has gotten with Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Sociedad and Betis having strong teams.. it's commendable that in Barça's worst period financially they haven't fell below 3rd since.
As with Man United, the cracks don't show as the great players or coaches that are still there propel the team to continued greatness. Man United won two more titles after the sell of Ronaldo but most of their new signings flopped and it only showed after Ferguson left. In Barca's case, Messi, Suarez, Pique, etc were still elite so flops didn't have much effect on the team so they still won La Liga twice but eventually, it caught up to them and now, look at the sorry state of what was once the strongest and richest club in the world.
@@franzreyes846 my point is they still consistently remain in the UCL spots in a league that's getting more competitive every season, Atleti, Sevilla, Betis and Sociedad spend decent amounts bringing proper players in every summer.. last season most pundits said Barça would finish 5th and they finished 4th. Can't compare that to United who only get UCL once in a while these days, and Liverpool or Milan who missed out on Europe for years.
Barca is easily #1 and its not even close. sure they have still had some success on the pitch but at the cost of going nearly 2 billion in debt and having to sell off large percentages of tv rights just to be able to register free transfers. They still owe a decent chunk of money to other clubs for previous signings as well. They also still owe an insane amount of money to their players, that they are not paying, and they still have the highest wage bill of any team in the world at almost 5m a week. As well as all the lawsuits and illegal acts that have been going on for nearly a decade at the club.
@@footballhipstertv ESPN, beIN, SKY, doesnt really matter, they are facts pull your head out of your ass and actually do some research about the team you apparently support but know nothing about.
Saying Laporta has yet to show he’s learned from Bartos mistakes after the Jan window is laughable. But to say it knowing how much hard ball they e been playing and getting quality for cheap, come on bro.
@@yanndylan2239 Laporta's business has been crazy good. Managing to get Pedri, Ansu, Araujo etc to stay on long-term deals for less money than other clubs were offering, then adding top FAs + Lewa, Raph, Kounde also for less money than others were offering... but FD will never give any credit
@@victorb1 theres literally no way of knowing if Laporta's business has been crazy good yet. The extending of contracts to talents has been good but there's literally know way of knowing if all of the new signings they have made will be good or not.
August 2022, a couple of months after the video was made Laporta changed Barcelona drastically and the Blaugrana on paper had an amazing transformation and squad rebuild. Looking forward to la Liga to start tomorrow
How this guy put Barcelona at number 1?! Forgot to talk about Barca have Pedri, Gavi, Ansu, Arajo, Xavi, better President, soon Lewa , came 2nd in La liga while having a rebuilt and so much good is happening at the club so far. Back on too soon 🔜
Koeman had a similar squad but couldn't do shit. It's the coach not the squad. Now, they are try to sign a 34 year old striker while De Jong is being pushed away 🙃.
Lewandowski is OLD. Anyway, there is still no confirmation about his transfer. Pedri, Gavi are young and have yet to prove that they are part of a GREAT REBUILD. Ansu Fati is always injured he has to prove his consistency in a full season or two
i think barca has more than replaced the legendary xavi/iniesta in pedri, gavi, nico and pablo torre (one to keep an eye on). But once again football daily always seems to not know anything about barca conveniently.🤦♂
@@ryanrvs4329 bro pedri has won the golden boy and kopa trophy as well as being a very key figure in this barca team, gavi is only 17 and has already been called up for spain and plays a lot, nico and torre are clearly talented (if u watched barca you'd know). All of those players are teens and yet still they play so well, so imagine what will happen in their primes
@@denzelalfred4469 "Imagine what will happen once they hit their prime". Exactly. That's all we can do for now. Xaviesta was instrumental to the Pep Legacy, would they have won as many trophies without Xaviesta? Maybe not. Pedri and Gavi have done a good job, but to carry this Barca side is another thing. They'll replace Xaviesta once they bring trophies and glory days to Barca. Put it like this, Brazil has one of the all time greats in Neymar but he isn't Pele. Not saying Pedri/Gavi won't be as good as Xaviesta, but for now they're on different levels.
@@denzelalfred4469 winning the golden boy does not really mean a lot, the percentage of players who have one that award and have gone on to have outstanding careers is not very high. sure Rooney, Messi, and Aguero won it, but so did Pato, Anderson, Balotelli, and Isco. To say a bunch of teenagers have "more than replaced" Xavi/Iniesta is pure stupidity. And ion the case of nico and torre, talent doesnt always mean your going to be a great player, one of the most naturally gifted players i have ever seen was a young Quaresma and he didnt live up to hype at all.
@@indianfortniter1464 auba is shit? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 doesnt matter if he’s been worth 120 mil, at the time he was worth that, and he’s definitely better than braithwaite which was my actual point.
Thing is Johnson, Enrique and Meireles were decent signings for Liverpool - the problem with the rebuild was that every player sold was replaced by either a flop (Aquilani for example) or a *slightly* worse player
Except for Suarez. Maybe the problem wasn't the signings, it was that they didn't have an elite manager until Klopp. Look how he turned Henderson around.
@@meko98743 Rogers was an elite manager in fairness. But until 2014 Suarez may have been the only upgrade we ever had! I just think of things like Mascherano > Lucas Arbeloa > Johnson Reina > Mignolet Agger > Sakho None of the players I listed are bad players or signings, they just were not the level needed to be a consistent top 4 side
Barca should have settled their ambitions a long time ago..! They have THE most prestigious academy in the world and given time, could have steadily build up a new generation of greatness. Now they are instead on the brink of termination as club because of the endless pit of debt.
After Luis Enrique left, the barca academy wasn’t used at all. We kept on buying players outside of Spain and expect them to play how barca wants them too(which most signings showed they couldn’t adapt). Financially as of now. We are doing much much better. But obviously it’s gonna take a little longer to be financially stable
@@filthyjhony_11 Makes perfectly sense, and unfortunately for you, cause it's quite some insane talents who have left La Masia. However, you are not doing so much better now, are you? You are far from doing well, it seems. I feel like it's a coin toss, whether Barca will come through or just be forced into drastic actions. The fact that they seem to have a keen eye on Lewandowski seem like desperate attempt to win just about everything to cover debts.
And the academy is overrated. It produced world class players just before pep arrived but since then the best one is fati and hes a very very injury prone 20yearold . La masia isnt in the top 5 anymore let alone best one, despite its legendary status
@@nikolasavic1525 Gavi could be the talent that justifies it's legendary status. Personally, I could also think of a couple of top tier teams, that would be grateful for talents like Nico Gonzalez, Eric Garcia, Ilaix Moriba or Alex Balde. But just out of curiosity, what academies do you think are better for the moment?
they won it due to Fergies brilliance, on top of that. Chelsea, Liverpool and City weren't as strong as they are then. it's more about the long term consequences on the squad that made that period bad. I wouldn't blame Fergie though, it just shows even under Sir Alex's reign the Glazers were restrictive with their transfer policy.
@@emonyagami93 the Glazers let Fergie bring in good players RVP Rooney ferdinand ect when David moise, van gaal ect the Glazers restricted there policy.
@@declangaming24 Rooney and Ferdinand were bought in before the Glazers. Ferdinand in 2002, and Rooney in 2004. Glazers bought the club in 2005. They came into the club when Fergie was in the building his last great team. After they won the UCL in 2008, you can say they only made 3 good signings during Sir Alex's final years. RVP, DeGea and Hernandez. The rest never worked out.
@@jhaych their amazing rebuild also included. 1 Champions League FA Cup League Cup Club world cup European Super Cup Additional 2 UCL finals and finishing the league with 90 + points on 3 separate occasions. Pretty impressive rebuild if you ask me, especially when you consider they spent less than both Manchester Clubs and Chelsea.
What about those four failed rebuilds Sporting 03 until 19 before Ruben Amorim, Porto 12 until 17 before Sergio Conceição and Benfica 17 until 22 during Luis Felipe Vieira presidency and Arsenal 14 until 21 and most importantitly too Juventus 18 until 22 deserve to be espcially Sporting and Benfica and Arsenal and Juventus too
Did you mention a single signing from 2022 in the Barcelona segment? You say Laporta hasn't learned from his predecessor, but fail to mention a single transfer that's comparable to Bartomeu's blunders. I'm not saying business has been amazing under Laporta, but I don't think it's comparable.
