I was born and raised in California and lived in LA for 25 years. The Cons list far outweighs the Pros list so I got out - I moved away. Best decision I ever made. LA is "hard living" like NYC, but you don't get NYC. You just get Kardashians. LOL.
LA is home but when I had the chance to move back it just made no sense. I now live in NC and it feels like the Valley when I was growing up. Looking in from the outside it just looks insane.
I grew up in LA in the 50's & 60's. Worked for 30 years for the city of LA and moved out. Is LA liveable? Maybe for you but not for me. I remember the old LA when you could go out and around anywhere day or night and actually feel very safe. The beaches, downtown, or the valley had restaurants to die for. The cost of living was more affordable for average workers. I know times change and you have to adjust to what is. It hurts my heart and soul to have to say how wonderful the old LA was. Good times with wonderful people are gone.
Lucky you. You had the chance to live in the Golden Age of Los Angeles. Things change, like you say, and undesireable people always want a piece of the pie and always ruin things everywhere they go.
I lived in LA for many years and the complaints about the traffic are valid but there are many silver linings - first off, you become a master driver when you live in LA. You've never truly learned to drive until you drive in LA. Second, you can find so many awesome radio stations, discover new songs and find your voice whilst sitting in traffic on the freeway. Third, if you look around at all the millions of other people driving along side of you or in front of you or on your tail about to kill you, you might be reminded that we're all united. And lastly, you can always take the surface streets and watch the magic unfold....
Mannnn. Chicago has to have the worst traffic. I live 5 hours from Chicago. I've visited a lot of cities, LA included. I was ok with LA traffic. Stayed there for 10 days in LA. My Chicago trips are just for the weekend. Chicago in 3 days is way worse than LA in 10
I was raised in California moved because I was young enough that I had to go whit the family. I always said I would go back but hell no you couldn't pay me enough to live in Los Angeles its a complete nightmare now
They like to see the west coast is the best coast but damn is no different than New York and I can say that cuz I am a New Yorker but I like when they bring things like this up because when you hear about Los Angeles is only just the good stuff the Hollywood the beauty the lights the songs never really some of the reality truth about it good stuff
I agree. LA sucks! I've been living here since 1975. It's gotten worse. The upside is that my home is now 3X what it was worth when I purchased it. Not that I plan to sell, because I'm very set in my ways, but the neighborhood isn't gross either.
This video is very informative. I love LA and there is no place I would rather be. I was born and raised here and my family has been here since before California was a state.
Why does everyone brag about the great weather in Los Angeles? Do you all actually not realize that water is the most important factor which sustains all life?! Typical Californians unaware that decades long droughts will eventually make their million dollar shacks worthless. Because the value of their property is all that matters to them.
You had no clue. I have lived in So Calif for over 40 years in the past. The worst part was high cost of housing, which forced over 80% of people live in lower cost housing outside L.A. County over 50 miles away, and commuted average 2 hours one way, 24/7. That was 1,000 hours on weekdays, not 120. The rush hours are 4 A.M. to 10 P.M. I now, I commuted from Inland Empire every day up to 2008.
There's nothing positive in California.. lower property tax is worthless topic.. if you pay more in Texas but your cost of living is far less you're ahead. But on the other hand, I moved out of California.. didn't stay long and moved out of the country. I know live in Alast, Belgium..Best move I made..
@ B.B. Somewhere where you’ll have serious security issues, catalytic converter theft, crime, and section 8 housing where your taxes pay your neighbors rent that refuse to work. You have to be poor enough to qualify tho
@@rick4946 Texas is dependent on revenue from property taxes. Property tax collection have risen more than 20% since 2017 according to the Texas comptroller’s office. (Texas Tribune article 4/22/22)
Left LA last year for Dallas 😳. I bet if people left that place for 6 months continuous they’d take a trip back and see how they are getting shafted 😂. I HOPE I NEVER HAVE TO LIVE IN THAT TIME TAKING PLACE EVER AGAIN ✌🏾.
