I grew up in Kingwood (a smaller master-planned suburb east of the Woodlands), and people used to make the same comment about the trees. I also spent lots of time in The Woodlands growing up. I don’t understand why people find the communities difficult to navigate. Don’t mess with the trees!

Hi Natasha- I made it to Texas a couple weeks ago. Just wondered if there was a guide that I could pick up somewhere that could give me some ideas on good restaurants to try in the woodlands? I’ll be up there not this coming week but next week. Wanted to get up there during lunch or brunch so I can avoid traffic. The 45 seems to show no mercy lol. So far I’ve seen The Republic Grille and Tris I wanted to try but I’m also open to places that locals like to eat that are good and worth my money. I’ll even take some suggestions from you if you’ve got some (I’m sure you do 😉)

The one important thing that you missed is that residents of The Woodlands are stuck with Entergy as electric provider. We can’t choose any other companies. Lot of people were shock to find out after they moved to The Woodlands. To your point about it would be better if trees are cut down. I disagree. Residents of The Woodlands never wish for trees to be cut down. We stay in The Woodlands because of its nature. My family moved to The Woodlands years ago and love the trees. Its named The Woodlands for a reason. At first finding places could be challenging but for us it was a unique experience 😊. After a while, there is no issue.

Still looks like the The Woodlands that I remember! I lived there back in the 80’s-late 90’s (pop around 20K) and it was still just unincorporated Montgomery County! McCullough was the only high school, we still painted the serpent in Lake Woodlands as our senior prank and life was simple and fun! I still remember the giant hole that was dug for a supposed mall (at the time) I always had a crazy feeling they would eventually turn that place into some yuppified business mecca! At the time when I lived there they literally had a phone book (the size of a magazine) that listed your name, occupation, address, and phone number. Talk about forward pretentious thinking! Parents bought their little bratty kids brand new cars, Corvettes, BMW’s, Mustang GT 5.0 was like dog poop there, they were everywhere! I think one kid drove a Ferrari to school! Sheesh!!! I was so happy my parents moved us BACK TO California! Although trading the huge mansion style red brick houses surrounded by golf courses for Walnut Creek, CA (east bay NorCal) was quite the step up. I realized they were almost the same city or several years later would be. To this day, I truly believe The Woodlands wanted to be Walnut Creek or something like the San Ramon Valley/Silicon Valley…. Hey, thanks for the vid! 😉👍

I traveled and worked in Hughes Landing in The Woodlands for 6.5 years until recently when I moved back to California. For the first 4 years there wasn't a lot of diversity. For 2 years I worked from home so spent that time back in Cali. When I returned earlier this year in January I was surprised by the diversity which was a welcome site. I also moved to The Woodlands from Downtown and I'm sad to say, please do your research when considering renting at any of the Dinerstein apartments. This would be the One Lake Place across Whole Foods and The Milllenium Waterway apartments. There's been a lot of apartment breakins, mine included, with management staying quiet about these burglaries as a matter of their corporate policy. Which in my opinion only exacerbates the issue as I'm sure the culprits know this. My former apartments would always advise all the tenants when an event occurred. I enjoyed my time living and working there. It's become a big part of my life. Right now, enjoying the weather in Cali. Sure do miss the rain.... not the mosquitos for sure.
