Congrats! Im going to take my comm mel checkride next week and am planning on jumping straight into cfi. Just curious, how many flights and hours of ground did it take before you felt prepared for the checkride?
oof, for me ground was a weakness (as I mentioned in the video). I did maybe 50 hrs of ground, including flight lessons, debrief, pre flight etc. So 50 is the higher estimate I have for the hours billed for my CFI, ground and in-flight correction from him really. *Actual dedicated ground lesson, (where I was teaching my CFI my lessons, and he was asking me questions/critiqing), probably lower more around 30 hrs. About 2x a week for 4 months. roughly.
also, if you study well, be consistent, and fly 1-2x a week you should be able to get it done in 3 months or so. Weather affects it, family events too. But for me I felt ready after 3-4 months. It took me 6 months because my DPE wasn't available until 3 months later 😂 i hope that helps you budget!
awh that means a lot! and honestly, I have a lot of rather...surprising news coming to the channel. Soon, I'm trying to figure out how to say it. Thanks for being here! 🤙
I really respect the energy and effort that you put into your training. Watching this makes me think that maybe I don't have any interest in being a CFI. Seems exhausting.
thank you!! CFI is not for the weak or unmotivated, but I was both of those things at the start and ending of my training tbh. It's a bit of a slog, but I kept the end goal and my Why in mind. As cliche as it is, it helps😂
thanks for the advice! any multi courses you recommend? I'm hoping to go do a 3-7 day course, just pay up front and request time off. Get it all done in one go.
So proud of you dude! You did so great considering your personal life as well. Keep us updated on your job or even do like Lewdix and record a teaching session. Cheers
thank you for being here and following the videos! I do appreciate it, because I love to share but it's not as fun alone! And I'll think about it, I do think my whole outlook on producing content has changed as well. More to come, even if it might be different :)
