This is good stuff. I coach 4th grade boys. We're getting so many shots per game and they just aren't falling. Mostly because the technique and comfortability of shooting isnt there yet. Been looking for drills to improve some techniques. I was always a shooter but it came fairly natural so sending it from my brain to player has been somewhat tough to get anything to stick. Giving a few of these a shot at my next practice.
It works! The kids thought less and correct muscle memory somewhat kicked in plus they had more fun than spot shots. Doing it again for tomorrow’s training! Coach Geos OTX Becomers Basketball Training Round Rock, Texas at Brushy Creek Rec. Thanks big time.
Unreal man. I just got done coaching my 5 year olds first year. Wish I would have watched this earlier! Unless they are having fun, they aren’t learning!
My 8 years old daughter started playing basketball and she’s lacking strength to shoot the ball. The league is having these girls playing regular height hoop. What can I do to help her?
Practice time will always be more than game time. If you can practice with her on shorter hoops it will develop her long term. Shooting is a marathon not a sprint. And when she makes that first shot in a game, it’s gonna feel great!
I want players to be able to shoot from 18 feet. So they can play basketball with maximum spacing. My rule of thumb is a foot for each year of age. Most can get to ten feet by age 11-12.
