Man i love this story so i gots to tell it. We from Hartford Connecticut and we went to Harlem for a block party. My homie was living on St. Nick. So this dude was selling cassette of Keith Sweat song I want her. I said man this ain’t you. His name was Teddy Riley so I bought two. He said I’m the producer and we was clowning him saying who cares about the producer. We pop it in and said we wasted or money this cat can’t sing. Like El Debarge. Or Sharlamar. Solar was hot at the time. But that beat was tight and we played that tape for two hours, the lyrics was on the money and by the time we got to Hartford this dude was sounding like Frankie Beverly. So on the weekend we go to this club called Sass, and i the Dj to play this tape and it was hitting. Man when that album came out it was the jam. My favorite was something just ain’t right. But soon after Guy hit the scene and Timmy Gatlin, Jeff Redd, Johnnie Kemp and the new jack swing not Solar off the charts.
