The beauty of hiphop is none of them can do each other style better than the other one. As great of a poet Nas is he can’t write the grittiness that 50 can because he actually lived the stories and it’s certified. Jay hustle perspective he has the stories to back it. They don’t have the poetic touch Nas delivers with his rhymes. Can’t compare them

Why do people hate on Jay-z so much? Lyrically 50 cent is nowhere near Jay-z. I think the hate stems from how he became rich. From what I’ve heard Jay-z was book smart and was going to be rich regardless. He has told you guys he only sold drugs because his idol (dad) left home. People need to understand that characters like Jay-z will always be ahead of everyone. Hip-Hop would never place 50 above Jay or Nas. They are all-time great MCs. Many have the two respective men as their number one. 50 isn't the number one MC in his camp. This is objectively true. He's a great artist and had a four-five year run that is incredible. But it didn't move the art of rap forward in any way. He just made consistently good music in that time. He didn't offer anything new to Hip-Hop as far as lyricism, flow, technique, wordplay, references, similes, complex subject matter or complex rhyme schmes and structures. What did 50 do to move the genre forward? GRODT is a masterpiece, though. I'll give you that.

GRODT went diamond (10 million sold), The Massacre went 6x platinum, but Curtis, his 3rd album didn't even go double platinum and his 4th album hasn't gone platinum yet. Don't get me wrong, just like Nas some of his best work was on mixtapes and other projects. By comparison, Nas' first 5 albums are all certified platinum, several of which are multi.
