if anyone is struggling with handles or straps that stretch slip stitches along the edges help SO MUCH. The handles or straps will still stretch but way less, i used slip stitches for the strap of a star bag i made recently and it works so well.

You can also line your straps with bias tape to stop them from stretching out! You just sew a row of bias on the underside along the middle of the strap. Also, skip stitch doesn't stretch to much either so if you edge the straps with slip stitches it prevents stretching xxxx

I would love to see a big plushie (~40cms) crochet patterns video! I love big plushies & have been trying desperately to find patterns (especially free/cheap ones since I can’t afford a lot of the payed ones) but I’ve only been able to find a few so far. I'm literally making the star bag right now, and I will say that it works up so quickly! I finished both star panels within a day (yesterday) and today I'm making the strap! I'm thinking of actually incorporating some ribbons where the straps meet the bag and tying little bows! Best of luck with your star bag, it's probably one of the most exciting and fun things I've ever crocheted!

once again although i lurk i do have something to say, first off omg paige as per usual a banger ! you mentioned appliqués, which i think are so perfect to spice up a sweater, a bag, a hat or literally anything! so maybe making a video w a bunch of patterns of appliqués might be cool ! i just discovered them recently, so it was cool hearing you mention them shortly in the video. also keep up the awesome work and thank you for all the links im excited to start a new bag :))

i love this series! :D a few more ideas to help your bags not stretch (if you have a vendetta against sewing a lining for some reason like me oops) - use cotton yarn vs. other fibers, it has very little stretch! you can also surface slip stitch along the length of the finished handle/strap to reinforce it, like from one side of the bag to the other if that makes sense. i tried it on a recent tote bag pattern with acrylic yarn and it's been holding lots of heavy stuff no problem!

Another way to reduce stretching in crochet is to use a nylon cord to stitch around. Let it lay on the top of the previous row and stitch right over it.

Something I learnt recently was to do your straps with the thermal stitch, this doesn't stretch at all from what I've been reading, so I'll be doing that stitch from now on for any straps I need to make.

if you can't/don't want to sew in lining you can also just use a small hook and tight stitches OR double up your yarn, so crocheting with multiple strands of yarn at one to make it more sturdy! and as someone else mentioned, slip stitch along the edges of the straps. just be sure not to slip stitch it TOO tight or it'll bunch up and look weird. I think single crochet is the best for handles bc it doesn't stretch as much as most other stitches and then I slip stitch along the edges if I'm planning on ever putting anything heavy in

I literally asked for a sewing machine for Christmas because I hand sewed a lining for a wine tote I crocheted for a Christmas gift. It was just a small project but it almost dove me insane lol. And YT tip, if someone says “you can’t” in a tutorial, just turn off the video and find someone else to watch. We don’t need that kind of negativity in our lives.
