These are REALLY useful. Vocabulary and grammar/sentence structure at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone! (How do you say "kill two birds with one stone" in Hindi?)
@ChennaIWelcomeYou
@ChennaIWelcomeYou 2 года назад
No killing birds, please. We would say hit two mangoes with one stone! एक पत्थर से दो आम मारा ek paththar(stone)se do aam(mango) mar.(hit) This is mango season in Bharath !
@WatchAndLearnHindi
@WatchAndLearnHindi 2 года назад
@Timothy Douglas Happy to know that you like it! As for the equivalent of killing two birds with one stone, it is "ek teer se do nishaane" (एक तीर से दो निशाने) - two targets with one arrow.

Hello! Thank you first of all for your efforts and your constant output, it is greatly appreciated. I have one question which I may have asked before. It is about the position of the "kya" in a question sentence. You translate "What is the problem?" and "What is the price?" with the "kya" in the first position. I thought that the question word generally comes before the VERB. Also I found that kya in the beginning usually is a construction for Yes-or-No-questions. So I am a little bit confused why it is not "Samasyaa kya hai?" or "Keemat kya hai?". Is there anything that I am missing? Thank you for your help!

You are welcome 🙏 As for your question, you can say it both ways and it can sometimes depend on the personal preference of the speaker.

Similarily to my previous question: "Is anybody here?" Why is it translated as "Koee hai yahaan?" and not translated as "Kya koee yahaan hai?" (Why no "kya" and why is the "hai" not in the end?) I really want to thank you for your time and your help! :) Means a lot to me
@WatchAndLearnHindi
@WatchAndLearnHindi 2 года назад
You can say "Kya koee yahaan hai?" but "Koee hai yahaan?" also conveys the same meaning and it is shorter. So a native speaker will generally go with "Koee hai yahaan?" As for "why is the "hai" not in the end?" Again you can say "koee yahaan hai?" but in general a native speaker will you "koee yahaan hai." as a statement meaning somebody is here and "Koee hai yahaan?" as question meaning "Is anybody here?" Of course the tone also matters and there are subtle differences in how "koee yahaan hai?" and Koee hai yahaan?" are said even when both are questions. Hope this helps. I know it is a little confusing. Maybe I should make a video on this!

Hello! Here 4:44 can't you use "kitnaa paisaa"?
@WatchAndLearnHindi
@WatchAndLearnHindi 2 года назад
Short answer - if you really want to, you can say "kitnaa paisaa" when asking somebody price of something but it is not proper way. Long answer - If you want to know the price of something using words keemat or moolya makes the question clear. "kitnaa paisaa" just means how much money so not clear if you are asking price of something. Moreover it is not totally correct when asking what is the price because kitnaa and paisaa are both singular. So if you want to use this phrase say "kitne paise". Or you can say "kitne kaa /kee hai?" which means how much is it for? Hope this helps
