I’ve had some bad experiences back in the day. I find the KLM website to be better then the Air France website imo. Also keep in mind when you book with reward points sometimes they don not allow any changes or flexibility… happen to me at schiphol

We are booking a flight from Washington to Edinburg, it works with the 12,500, but trying to get back from Edinburgh to Washington we never could find a 13, 125. They all went like 25K points and $250 , so we booking a Paris back to Washington trip for 13,125 and $165 and doing like a train or plane back to Paris.
Their website just posted that they’re having tech issues. I’ve been trying to do one way and it won’t go through after typing in passenger details. Hopefully it’ll be fixed soon! Phone reps can’t see/access the promos

Very helpful video for someone unfamiliar with Flying Blue. I live in Western NC and from cursory searches it appears the closest airport I could drive to is ATL, or do a positioning flight to another NE city like BOS or NY. Are you familiar with any flights from the NC area for Flying Blue? Also, how often do you see these bonuses transferring points from Chase UR to flying blue? We spend most of our travel time in Western Europe so trying to decide how many miles we should consider "banking" for the bonus. TIA.

How come the taxes and fees for May and June are much lower right now (~ $68) than they were back in Jan when I was booking my Paris trip for May? I paid $112 (one way) and 13.2K in points per person.
Love all your information!!! We are planning to come back from Paris next year (flights aren’t open yet). BUT, since Chase has the bonus…would you recommend transferring our points anyway? I know it’s not certain, but I’m pretty sure we can get availability by searching as soon as the dates open up.
I typically don’t recommend transferring without finding award availability. But if you’re feeling confident like 1000% sure you’re going to redeem them with flying blue then go for it!
Excluding promos, Air France seems like a pretty steep trade off between points and cash out. As an example I ran a test for four people NYC -LIS and got 180k points and $990 out of pocket on Air France vs 267k and $251 out of pocket on United. Meanwhile, the chase portal can give do it for 193K and no cash out. Is there some sort of sweet spot to on air france?

The sweet spot is finding those redemptions. It depends on what dates you're looking at because AF/KLM prices their award tickets dynamically. Miles prices can vary A LOT. Air France and KLM always pass on additional taxes and fees to passengers booking award tickets. United doesn't pass on taxes and fees. Transferring points is not always the best option especially if you can't find saver award space. Which in your case thats what it seems like if you're seeing 267k and 180k for flights to Lisbon

I don’t think I mentioned booking roundtrip in the video 🤔 but yes I always recommend searching one ways, if you find availability outbound and inbound you can book roundtrip. But there is no discount for booking roundtrip

Do you have to have the right amount of points in your Fly Blue account to unlock the promo fare? I see the promo fare on the calendar view for my route but when I click in I don’t have the fare option. I would need to transfer my points from my Amex so I’m wondering if that’s why I can’t see it. Bc I have no points in my account yet.

Hey! Thanks for watching! To answer your question , no, they won't. Stopovers are for stops in cities along the way. Air France and Amsterdam connections through Paris and Amsterdam those stops are along the way. Forcing a connection to Madrid or Lisbon is adding another destination, not a stopover along the route, so it isn't a stopover anymore.
Flying blue dynamically prices their awards which means it can sometimes be an outrageous amount or sometimes it can be just a few thousands. You never know unless you search

How you figure out which flights will be compatible on KLM or AirFrance? The long haul flight deal just says Montreal but when I search a U.S. airport like Atlanta or DC to Montréal it says there is nothing available.

does it ever happen to you where your transfer miles takes days to transfer to the airline partners? I did my first two transfer from capital one to Singapore airlines on the same day and one came immediately and the other one is stuck. it's been 3 days already. the customer service peeps are not helpfll at all.
That has happened to me before with Hyatt. Sometimes it's a fraud prevention thing and they flag the second transaction and hold it for review. If you call the airline, they will pretty much be useless and if you call Capital One, they'll probably tell you you have to wait it out to see what happens😕
So for example for Long Haul I see Dubai for 22,500 points. Is that flying OUT of Dubai or INTO Dubai? Because I am based out of Los Angeles. Edit: Just checked LAX to Dubai. Only saw green color. I ran same search you did and saw orange color. So Im a bit confused. How do I know there's monthly promo out of LAX?
@@m4.hugo.426 If you run a search from LAX to your destination, it'll show you the award availability. If you're looking at the award calendar the green means lowest for that month. If you're looking at a specific date that means it's lowest for that particular date.
