Pete Sampras is the reason why I started to develop interest for Tennis 🎾 His serve & volley is a always a treat to watch. He’s a beast who always looked to dominate the opponent with aggressive gameplay. And thank you Tennis TV. Happy 50th Birthday Pete! God bless!!! 🎂💐🎉

The young Sampras was the most gifted tennis player I ever saw. He didn't work that hard at it, was never the best conditioned and didn't last as long as he might've, but his athletic talent was otherworldly, Greek godlike. At his peak it's fair to say that every part of his game was the best in the world. That's never been true of anyone else. And some parts, like his serve and running forehand, were the best of all time imo with no one really close. He had more power than Lendl, was quicker than McEnroe and could out rally Agassi from the baseline. There was never anyone to match him athletically. Even the big three, as great as they all are, can't match his serve and volley or all court game. Prime Fed is probably the closest followed possibly by prime McEnroe. But I believe a young Sampras would have beaten anyone in history, with the possible exception of Nadal on red clay.

Some phenomenal shots, to be sure. Refreshing to see how great Sampras was. A key point here is that he certainly produced wonderful shots on his backhand wing - something many people might have forgotten. The common judgment is that his backhand was a liability, but it doesn't seem so in this video. At his best he had no major weaknesses.

Pete was the GOAT when there was multiple Slam winners, Becker ,Agassi,Courier, Edberg,Lendl , Kurten, to name a few the problem with today is there’s basically been 3 or 4 and the younger generation haven’t stepped up to the task. Either the competition is poorer or the best are too good but we seem to have lost a whole generation, and are on to a second generation now while the likes of Federer are hitting 40

I know it's not the point of the video, but it's crazy to think that if Sampras had played professionally to the age that Federer is today he would have still been active in 2010
