The cost to quality gap is getting smaller, and you can totally tell from Fenders Squire Classic Vibe line of guitars. In this video I play all three. I reveal my favorite toward the end of the video.

I have a '60's Classic Vibe Strat and Tele, and I would put the quality and sound up against any MIM or American Fender any time. Paid $350 each and they are real player guitars. Unbelievable sound and quality. That's all.

I have a 50's, 60' and a 60's Tele (now sold) so I extensively compared these two. 50's has more snap and is much, much brighter than 60's, it has these beautiful overtones that are just not present in the 60's. On it's own each of them sounds great, but when you directly compare them, they're pretty different in tone departments. 60's is more round, it has a dark woody tone in the neck position, very scooped, almost like archtop, while 50's got more midrange "quack", very similar to Tele. If you're looking for a John Frusciante tone, 50's is a much better fit in my opinion. 60's is better for blues and blues rock (SRV). 50's in the neck position has much more vintage tone, plus the neck is tiny bit fatter than 60's, so it's staying with me and 60''s going to marketpalce.

for frusciante hendrix tone i think the 60's is better (regarding to the blind test in this vid) but this is only my opinion, don´t own one of these guitars yet

I bought a 60 classic vibe. I put Texas specials in it. I’ve been looking at buying another guitar but nothing touches my classic vibe. Not even any of the custom shop stuff I’ve played. I had a budget of $1800 when I bought the classic vibe and nothing sounded or felt as good as that $399 squire. I’m thinking Squire is becoming better than Fender

Man, I would have bought all 3! Hahahah. I have the 2015 chinese made CV 60s 3tone. Mine was used and someone had put in Mighty Mite sss alnico 5s. I have no idea how the guitar sounds with stock but I hear on RU-vid they sound great. Not sure why whoever's swapped them did but i get lots of compliments on mine too. Hahah. Kick ass kits.

I thought they all sounded hotter than their vintage counterpart. At first I was like 60s, 70s, then got really confused when I heard the last one, which had the chime of a 50' but some big growls too. Very nice instruments IMO. I've got 5 USA strats and these sound better than the MIA deluxe stock pickups and certainly better than the vintage noiseless.

They all are my favorite. Looking to add another Strat to my collection but it's tough finding one. Definitely going with Classic Vibe, for cost reasons. I already have a Vintera 60's Fender Strat with '59 pickups so I don't need to go in that direction. I'm leaning towards the '70s model with the humbucker in the bridge. Or I could flip another direction and go with a Tele with either dual humbuckers or the humbucker in the neck model (single coil bridge). So many choices!

There was a complaint about a dark stretch of video. It's because there was a bright window behind you in the frame. This messes w/ camera's auto exposure. Higher end equipment might let you compensate, but it's easier & cheaper just to compose your shots w/ even lighting. Keep the window out of frame behind camera or off to the side. Good video any way.

I know it’s personal preference but wouldn’t one of the whole points to having a strat is having those three single coils? It gives that more authentic strat sound. What are your thoughts?

The specs on Fender's site show the same nut width, shape and radius for all three necks/fingerboards. The copy also reads the same for all three, "...slim, comfortable “C”-shaped neck profile with an easy-playing 9.5”-radius fingerboard and narrow-tall frets." Going by that I thought they all had the same neck. How are they different?

The 50s and 60s looks as if they are from the previous line of CV made in China. The new Indonesian line has the same pickups, while the chinese had different pickups to the Indonesian and different pickups for the 50s and the 60s so all guitars in this video has different pickups while all the new CV has the same pickups. It would be a lot better if we could hear the guitars clean without any amp distortion. Very difficult to tell them apart as they all sound too similar as most guitars do with amp distortion.
@RichBischoff
@RichBischoff 4 года назад
I disagree I feel when you add gain, it really magnifies each guitars distinct sound. To me they all sound more alike clean. I never understand this argument get it all the time. I've played hundreds of guitars, when you add drive, that's when you really start hearing a diference between guitars as it magnifies the tone. Just saying.
@sunburst3353
@sunburst3353 4 года назад
@@RichBischoff To you, it may do that, but for me and many other guitarists it doesn't. When you turn gain up, what you are actually hearing is more of the amp's (or pedal's) distortion & noise, which is the sound of the amplification, not the sound that is coming from the guitar's pickups. There may be more harmonics going on, and it may sound really good (depending on the guitaris's ability, of course) but the more gain there is, less of the original guitar's tone and character is heard until it just sounds like any other electric guitar. Sure we can disagree on what we might prefer to listen to, but when trying to discern one guitar's native sound from another, I don't see how more gain is going to help.

Yah I like them all, I have the 50's in a 2 tone Sunburst, the 60"s in a 3 tone Sunburst, and the exact 70"s that you have in your video there. Also I was thinking about collecting another one from our local music store here in Red Deer, Alberta. It was the 70"s SSS in Sapphire Blue, with the maple neck. Here in Canada they retail for $559.99 . The American Stats are very expensive. The American performer is the cheapest Strat, it retails for $1649.00, and I don't see or notice a huge difference, why not own 3 of these and collect the whole series, 50's, 60"s, and 70's for the same price as the Cheapest American model? Right? When you go to the next higher American model and upwards, your starting at over $2000.00 Canadian and moving up in prices very quickly. Anyways great video and guitar 🎸 playing as usual. Cheers.....as always like I have commented on many of your other videos also. Robert from Red Deer, Alberta!

@@johncollins5552 - Godin make some great electric guitars. There are many great boutique builders but the prices are way higher.
