50's & 60's Wabash Railroad
Purchase the complete DVD at www.greenfrog.com
In the summer of 1952, Emery Gulash, well known rail-fan photographer, began capturing activities on the Wabash on beautiful 16 mm color film. Green Frog is proud to release this Heritage Series DVD.
The Wabash railroad had essentially two main lines: Chicago to Kansas City, and Detroit - Toledo to Kansas City. Emery followed the Wabash over these two lines capturing first generation diesels, some name passenger trains (such as The Wabash Cannonball), and quite a bit of freight action as well.
You'll visit locations such as Detroit: (and Fort Street Union Station), Ft. Wayne, Mexico, Missouri, Oakwood Yard; Windsor; and Toledo; as well as many other locations.
You will witness the merger into the Norfolk and Western as well. This DVD covers the time period from 1952 through 1966 after the merger with the N&W.
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Approx. Run Time: 60 Minutes

My Grandparents lived in Ferguson, MO right on the Wabash (google earth 33 Godfrey Lane and see what I mean!) and I spent hours and hours in the 60s and 70s , even up to 1984, watching first and second generation Wabash, (then N&W after 64) units stall on the steep grade up from Moline Creek. The house would literally shake as 5 or 6 units in Run 8 would creep by at a speedy 3 or 4 mph, if they were lucky!

Interesting lash-up at 4:16. Fairbanks-Morse, EMD, Alco and a GE. 🤔

I remember that. Why do you suppose that was possible?

I was working on the CB&Q that's a railroad , A fireman on the locomotive then one day I saw a little baby crawling along the track a baby mind you. And I grabbed that baby and I flung it into a nice pile of soft leaves. Me well I didn't make out so good. Fractured my leg. The baby was all right. Today that baby is president of a. Vons supermarket you think he ever took the trouble to thank me no sir! Rich folks got short memories.
