This is one of my favorite parts at the beginning of the videos. Such great recommendations! I've loved discovering Benny Sings, Moonchild, "The Lark Ascending", Lewis Taylor (such a great set of songs), Impressions for Headphones (so chill I love it), and Judee Sill (my favorite song from her is Crayon Angels). Also, from this compilation I got new recommendations; I'm going to explore Andy Shauf (they have a NPR Tiny Desk!), Mid-Air Thief sounded really cool, and Margo Guryan. Here are my recommendations to you of great artists I've discovered over this year (excluding the ones I've already mentionned): - Dirty Projectors ("Guarding the Baby", "Holy Mackerel", "Swing Lo Magellan", and so many other great pieces) - Bjork ("Venus as a Boy" is my favorite, "Army of Me", "Hunter", and "Bachelorette" are also really cool) - Take 6 ("I L-O-V-E U", "He Never Sleeps", "A Quiet Place", superlative vocal harmonies across their discography) - Little Dragon ("Where you Belong" is my favorite from her) - Masego (their NPR Tiny Desk is great) - Rex Orange County ("Sunflower" is great, and they collabed with Benny Sings for "Loving is Easy" which is so catchy and a great song) - Maye (Tiny Desk is so nice) - Fleet Foxes ("Mykonos" is probably my favorite and has a sick music video. They have a lot of other great ones I can't remember the name of) - Moe Shop (a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, and it's definitely not for everyone, but some of the beats are really fun to listen to with some good headphones. My favorites are "Love Taste" and "Notice" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gK7g-s84zqc.html). Fusq also has some similarly composed bangers - Carpenters ("We've only just begun" and "Close to you" are magical) - FKJ (the "Just Piano" album is really chill and beautiful to listen to, and he has a lot of other great songs) - Radiohead ("Everything in its right place" and "Present Tense" are my favorites, and they have so many other masterpieces) - Linda Perhacs (60s psychedelic folk. So many beautiful songs: "Hey, Who Really Cares" is the first I heard from her and one of the best, the entire Parallelograms album from her is amazing; so many gems in that album) - Childish Gambino ("Awaken my Love" is a really nice album. It's been a while since I've listened to it, but when I found it I listened to it every day for a while) - Steve Lacy (So many great songs. Apollo XXI is a really good album from him, and "Ryd / Dark Red" is so catchy) - Anderson .Paak (one of the best NPR Tiny Desks ever. His drumming is incredible) - Tyler the Creator (also a great NPR Tiny Desk. Igor is my favorite album from him) - Men I Trust (great indie pop/rock band. Pretty chill) - Billie Marten "Cartoon People" - Earth Wind and Fire - Electric Light Orchestra - Erykah Badu - JW Francis (I just discovered this band today and I had to include them here. My current favorite from them is "Maybe") Thanks for letting me explode my music taste all over. Please add any of your favorite songs/musicians in the comments and I'll listen to them. I'm always for discovering new music.

Great list, give dope lemon (formerly angus and julia stone) a try, they got some good stuff, hindley street country club covers, lake street dive (mistakes bose version, rich girl, etc), the midnight (lost boy, deep blue and many others), check out cannons (hurricane, footsteps in the dark cover, bad dream, their amazing), their doin big things, gregory porter (take me to the alley, holding on). There's just so many to mention. But there's a few anyway.

I like "salt and pepper" from dope lemon, mistakes (and lake street dive's npr tiny desk), cannon's footsteps in the dark cover is great (I love that riff from Ice Cube's good day, and cannon added a lot of cool atmosphere with their synths), bad dream is great too, and I love the chords in porter's holding on. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Great list. I just compiled my best of 2021 and theres some artists to add now. These days I'm unable to travel so music is my escape and lists like this take me exploring in a way close to sailing from island to island. Each inhabited by unique peoples and ideas. You guys need to analise 'When Will You Be Mine' by the Average White Band (please). I think we all would love to here your thoughts on the funkyness of it and how wonderfully the instruments weave between each other in this song. I'm probably the only one out there asking this because it's not such a well known song, unfortunately, but it funks like the funkiest!

I'm just waiting till you finally react to BTS.. I grew up in the 90's so of course I loved 90's grunge/alternative rock. Also 90s hip hop and R and B. I never thought I would love BTS, I had preconceived notions about them... And boy was I wrong. The members especially the leader RM who is a certified 148 IQ genius write a lot of their own songs. They have songs inspired by philosophers and psychologists like Carl Jung, Nietzsche etc., songs inspired by books like Demian by Nobel prize winner Herman Hesse. Songs about mental health, growing up pains, suicide/depression, the intricate journey from kid to adult. They're very poetic which I was so surprised as I never expected it. They even have a song about the loneliest whale in the world, the 52 Hertz wale who calls at a higher frequency than other whales, so they're calls are not heard. Or a song about Pluto, when it was declared to not be a planet anymore. And so much more. Do not be fooled by the pop english songs that were put out as gifts to the fans called Army. They're Korean songs are really deep. Hope you check them out.
