Cosmetologist here: coconut oil and olive oil will not absorb into the hair or skin, it will only build up. The molecule is too big! Jojoba oil is the only oil that will absorb into skin and hair, but it can be used on both all over the body 😊 just a information tidbit!

Yes! And when you do grow them, how can you stop little flies and pests from attacking (the low waste way). I grew peppers and a tomato on a window sill and they attracted little bugs. Now they live in the bathroom and the little flies don't like it there for some reason so they're all gone 🤷🏼‍♀️

Another family friendly tip: You can often order eggs, milk and yogurt from your local farmer. That is more sustainable, they deliver directly to your house and most likely it's wayy cheaper.

Living by example honestly has a huge impact. Since I've been trying to reduce waste and eating mostly plant-based, my mother has become so much more conscious of her unsustainable habits. She loves to try my vegan dishes, we go to the farmer's market together and even when I'm not with her, she tries to avoid plastic while shopping. Even my dad has been influenced by my behaviour. He always makes jokes about it, but once my mother told me that during a birthday celebrations he explained to one of his friends why buying second-hand clothes makes a difference, and he also defends my eating habits when older family members question them.

It’s very hard when the people you live with - family, roommates, etc. - aren’t supportive. Change sometimes takes a long time, but try to be patient with yourself - commit to just one small change after the other. Stay the course and those small changes will all stack up. It’s been a ten year journey and counting for me, but I am so happy with the progress. You can do it ❤️

Agreed! One thing I had my family do for my birthday was for them to try more sustainable toiletries like shampoo bars, bar soaps,washcloths, cotton rounds and bamboo brushes and toothbrushes etc. for at least a month instead of getting me gifts. At the end of the month they were pleasantly surprised that the sustainable product lasted longer and were more open to trying some other sustainable options. Any liquid products like shower gels, shampoos, disposable oeriod products (we had loads due to couponing) were donated to charity to help refugees and those undergoing the cost of living crisis at the minute 😀

I would grab recycling that my parents would throw away and switch them to recycling, I made a pinterest board for my wishlist with sustainable things, and the changes I'm doing are making my parents switch a fee things like choosing the glass container of something vs plastic. I'm also in wedding planning mode and have made sure to get compostable and wooden cutlery and plates for the engagement, bridal shower, and reception when we couldnt use real which comparing the prices for my mom was fairly eye opening for her.

I do the same thing! I can't really access second hand clothing (besides maybe a few hand-me-downs from my cousins, although that was more common as a child) and I can't afford sustainable clothing
@cosmicescapist4237
@cosmicescapist4237 Год назад
So here's something that I have decided recently that has worked for me: I have decided to only keep clothes that I KNOW I will wear. I only have 3 shirts, two pairs of bottoms, a pair of boxers, and 2 pairs of socks. This way I am only keeping the clothing items I really need and I have an attachment to. I recommend Shelbizleee's channel. She has some great content and in one of her videos she mentions that when it comes to clothes you either sell that specific article of clothing or you give it away for free. But hey, I'm still kinda new to incorporating more sustainable, zero-waste habits in my life.👍🏻 I love this video by the way, in here there were quite a few things I didn't know and for that, I thank you. Stay safe out there💖 Also another thing I remembered, next time you go to the grocery store, look for the reduced produce. For a better understanding, basically stores will collect fruits and veggies and have the prices reduced which is not only a money saver, but your basically getting free food. I understand that not everyone would consider those reduced prices cheap but I mean that produce regualry priced vs. the reduced price is a steal. They reduce the produce because of imperfections and it'll ruin the aesthetic of their setup. When in actuality, they look even more beautiful. I highly recommend the documentary: Just Eat It, it's about a couple who eat nothing but food where it's about to be thrown out and/or headed to the landfill. Last time I watched it it was free here on RU-vid. I just wanted to add that little tidbit here.

@Emma-cw3jk
@Emma-cw3jk 3 года назад
Where I live, it depends on region to region, but there are usually Facebook groups where people sell unwanted items. Old sheets, cookware, microwaves, mattresses, almost anything you could need, sometimes they just want to get rid of things for free as well! Also charity shops or thrift stores will sell cookware and whatnot. You likely won’t have to purchase many new items when moving out and you’ll save money too! Also, don’t think that you need to buy everything, some things can be accumulated with time! Just get the basics that you know you’ll use, I’d make a list but it’s different for everybody. If you have a little space under your bed or in a closet you can start accumulating some things if you’re going to move out soon so that you don’t have to run around trying to get everything like dish soap, clothing detergent/ strips, and etc. Also if you’re going to have roommates then chances are they may be okay with sharing cookware 👍

How To Live In Harmony With Nature And Reduce Pollution 1. Many Production Which We Do Not Need Actually For Human Beings Has To Be Stopped We manufacture so many products and it is creating pollution. So if we minimise our products, pollution would be less. We produce so many things which we do not need, like cold drinks, leather products, potato wafers, chips, fruit juices, chocolates, biscuits, pickles, ice creams, etc. Cold drinks, fruit juices, pickles, ice creams, etc. Should be cooked at home only. If we stopped producing this things which are not required for humans, so much pollution could be reduced. If we colour the clothes pollution occurs. So if we don't colour our clothes, the pollution resulting from colouring the clothes can be stopped. Let everything remain in natural colour. 2. We Should Cook Foods In Its Natural Form We can cook rice and wheat in our homes and eat it. Rice and Wheat is produced in farms. Then it is packed and transported to big warehouses, then wholesalers buy from them and supply to retail shops. But if a manufacturing company makes bread from rice and wheat, then to make bread a manufacturing company has to be set up, machines and working staffs are needed. When a company is built many other things are also needed. Then at last a plastic pack is required to pack the breads. So if we start cooking eatable things in its natural form then we do not need many companies like bread manufacturing company, tomato ketchup, noodles, fruit jam, pizza, burger, etc., the things required for the company and the plastic pack, paper box pack and glass bottles. If done like this, so many companies will not be required and hence less pollution for the world. Also we could save our money like this. If you buy a packet of bread, it would cost you more money than if you cook wheat and rice in home. Previously before industrial revolution, we didn't have technology, but our foods were rich with nutrients. Now we have technology, but technology is polluting our foods and our foods are not rich with nutrients, and because of that also we have health problems. If this is done, then many jobs would be lost. For that many peoples should do farming and they should be given loans if they do not have enough money to start farming on their own. Food, Medicines, Surgeries and Education's should be made free to the world till the world settles down with farming. After that food, medicines, surgeries and education's should be stopped free to the world. Many people should study botany subject so that they have knowledge of plants and they should do farming. Is their any another solution, that humans won't lose jobs and also pollution would decrease. Humans have to take this step certainly instead of going on polluting the earth, making wildlife extinct and also mass extinctions of humans in future. 3. Electricity Pollution We create electricity from many types of sources like coal, water, etc., but it creates pollution. If electricity created from windmill and solar energy then no pollution occurs in the creation process. But still to manufacture windmill and solar machines pollution would occur. As I previously said that if we shut down many manufacturing companies which are producing things which are not needed for humans, then the world would not require so much electricity. If less electricity required, then less pollution generated. 4. Could We Stop Drinking Cow's and Buffalo's Milk Whatever vitamins and nutrients we get from milk, if we can get it from other eatable things, then we can stop drinking cow's and buffalo's milk. As milk has to be packed in glass bottles and plastic packs and then transported to places. All of this can be stopped. For infants whose mother's have died or mother's who cannot breast feed their infants, only for them cow's and buffalo's milk should be given. We use milk in tea and coffee. Instead of milk we must use lime with tea and coffee or just plain tea and coffee. A lime should be cut into a few pieces and cooked with tea and coffee or something else can be used instead of lime. 5. How Much Should Be The World's Population Every place should have a single house. No buildings, everything ground floor. If we do this and the whole lands of our planet earth would be occupied one day with homes, farms, forests, schools, hospitals, etc., then we would come to know how much our planet earth can have maximum population. Once the population is determined, then we have to maintain that population. For example if our earth can have a population of 10 billion peoples, then when the population reaches 10 billion, then everyone should have only one child till the population reaches 9 billion peoples. As if we have only one child then the population decreases. When population is 9 billion peoples, then everyone should have 2 children's till the population reaches 10 billion peoples. After that again we should have only one child. In this way population can be maintained.

@@momay2670 I do agree that it sounds demeaning, but else would make it misogynistic? Additionally, when I say "trans people", I'm referring to "girl-to-guy" transgender people. Ones that usually still have a menstruation cycle.

Question: what's the point in picking up litter if it's going in the bin anyway? Rubbish goes to landfills so really it's just moving the eyesore from one location to another, it doesn't solve it.
@samanthabartlett4562
@samanthabartlett4562 3 года назад
It keeps it from ending up in nature! If it's on the side of the road its likely to end up washed down a grate into the ocean, or blown into the woods to get eaten by a critter etc

I don’t want to look at everyone else’s rubbish in the street. It is bad for the morale of neighbourhoods as it makes people feel their place is neglected and not valued. There are so many reasons to pick up litter both environmentally and socially
@saffleigh
@saffleigh 3 года назад
@@samanthabartlett4562 But landfills are in nature too, and animals scavenge there. In the UK most of our waste is actually shipped abroad and handled in other countries like the Philippines and is most likely washed in the ocean anyway. Animals will eat them either way. It will end up in the ocean either way. I feel like its just the eco version of buying stationery, its that false sense of productivity and serotonin. How are landfills more environmentally friendly? I just don't understand the logic here at all. Its all nature, its all earth. If it is being produced then it is going in the ground, why are people picky as to which ground it ends up on? It's all harmful.
@saffleigh

@@TermiteVideo well the existence of litter is proof of the place is not valued, surely? What's the environmental reason then? As you only said social suggestions.

This is really informative! I have been trying to search for a RU-vid vid that really breaks down the stuff in this RU-vid vid! 👩‍⚕️Your breakdown is similar to the channel from this educational health enthusiast Doctor Ethan! Ethan's tips are totally educational and I actually learned a lot for my school. He is the most informative Doctor in Nottingham and he talks about conditions! I recommend you watch his RU-vid out and give the medical student a subscribe! 👉 #MedicalStudentEthan

Another great tip is to make your own fertilizer by soaking banana peels in water for a few days! Great way to use them after rubbing them on the leaves :)
