Altho I like this video I think its a lil unrealistic for most ppl - no TV, airpods, no drinking or eating out. Its refreshing to see that you seem happy with this very grounded lifestyle. Keep doing yo thing!
Instead of getting traditional souvenirs, when I’ve traveled I’ve gone to local thrift stores and gotten a piece of clothing or home decor second hand, and instead of clutter I have items I actually use/wear and remember the story of
I agreed on 100% of your things until I had children. In school, they only allow plastic containers because of accidents with glass. Also, a TV is an essential thing here. I have an autistic son and he calms down with some shows. I think that children are a big game changer when you want to be a minimalist!
I kept my small toaster oven and got rid of the toaster. Its not so big as to be cumbersome and take too much space on my kitchen counter. I use it far more than a regular toaster. I can do more bread to toast, single pizzas, and other several things than a toaster. It is a multi task multi use for many things versus just a toast a slice of bread. I dont keep 1 use item, its multi tasking or its not in my kitchen.
Multitask machines are the best! I literally don’t have space in my kitchen for either one and i don’t have a ton of storage space either, so i just choose not to buy a toaster or toaster oven. Thanks for watching!
Interesting video. I understand your mindset, but I'm definitely not aligned with it. I have so many 'time wasting' activities that bring joy, community and are affordable. Videogames are a great example. I have one game that cost around $15 and I've played for hundreds of hours with my husband and friends. I'm also an animator for games, so I'm a little biased on media 😅 Totally agree about clothes and anything 'trendy'. I think a simple question to ask with any purchase is 'why am I buying this?". Is it for image or is it practical? Anyway, thanks for the perspective!
Thanks for watching! I don’t expect anyone to align with my lifestyle choice… it’s not an easy one lol. But I agree that it is all about what brings you joy!
The only things I own in this list are air fryer , my husband and our oldest love fried stuff and I wanted to try to make it healthier, but it was a flop because they prefer fried in the pan anyway, so I somewhat regret buying it but we still use it daily as my husband defrosts bread in it daily (less electricity than the oven). Second, not sure if relevant to that list (because single use kitchen ustensilt), a peeler. I use it for more than just skin removal though, I got rid of my spiralizer and now use the peeler to make vegetable "pastas". Then I have two subscribtions that are linked to work, my husband and I are musicians and my husband regularly has gigs where he plays solo with background chords or drums to music for workshops (basically he´s his own DJ) and for that he needs illimited mobile data and youtube premium...
You totally have valid reasons to have what you have, especially since you use them. I have a peeler too but I’ll need to learn how to spiralize vegetables like you do, that’s a great idea! And i have a background as a musician too so I totally get that you need subscriptions and such for your work. Thank you for sharing your perspective and for watching my video. 😊
Its always weird to me when people don't watch tv, listen to music and don't play games. Like what the heck do you do for down time. I get in another video you said you had a side hustle business, but for someone like me who doesn't want to work / be productive every single second they are awake, its just strange. Vibing to music, especially while working out and playing games are my main hobbies. Secondary things would be watching anime on my phone / tablet and reading on my kindle. Every time I see minimalist videos it feels like they all have the opinion that any time you're not working or focused on some sort of political movement for "the betterment of the planet" you're wasting time.
I get asked this question all the time, what I do since I don’t have a TV. I spend so much time in front of a computer with work and business, I don’t want to spend downtime in front of the screen. I read a lot of books, do outdoor activities, grow plants on my balcony garden, mess around on my drums and guitar, I can go on and on. But of course, I occasionally watch my favorite RU-vidrs or documentaries on RU-vid if I feel like watching something. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned on my RU-vid channel that I’m all about being productive all the time. I try my best to maintain balance.
What a strange question to ask when there are a million things one can do with their spare time. Did you know that all these audiovisual entertainment you mention did not exist some decades ago? How old are you?
I think it’s cool that you have trimmed down your lifestyle but I think this video sounds a bit judgemental of people who do buy all those things. You kept referencing all these people you know who buy the thins you don’t want -- I’d be concerned that these friends and acquaintances of yours watched this video and had their feelings hurt by some of your comments.
All I do in my videos is share one perspective based on my personal experiences, and the things I say should never be taken personally. I have told my coworker to her face, who does Botox and have lip fillers, what I think of it, and she didn’t take it personally. She laughed, even joked about how her forehead doesn’t move, and all is well at the end of the day.😉
using you oven to toast or warm up stuff doesn't save money lol I'm not saying you need a toaster or a toaster oven but you are definitely not saving money by replacing either with your oven.
