This video is awesome! I’ve tried calamity play throughs and my best one had the world corrupted literally. This is really helping me regain the progress.
I like how you pronounced SCal’s name with the Latin pronunciation. Hers and the Astrum Deus’ names are Latin words after all. Calamitas means disaster and Astrum Deus means Star God.
Correction for the summoner damage nerf : the -50% damage property only applies when you're holding a weapon _from a different class_ so classless weapons, tools, RoD, potions or even nothing will not buff nor will it nerf your damage. Also Burden Breaker drops from the Dungeon Guardian too, which is way easier to kill.
Let me give off a little extra sub-tips for some of the tips: Fasbol's vodka is naturally crafted with some crystal shards, pixie dust and stuff, blood orbs are just available for being an alternative crafting recipe for any vanilla/calamity potion recipes Burden breaker can be dropped by dungeon guardians "in hardmode"(as i remember)
A little addendum/"adjustment" to the bonus part of number 20: the Chaos State debuff is what is checked for, so even if you merely RoD above the place and fall in with the debuff still up, you *will* get paid a visit. [Edit:] As a bonus of my own, here's a little easter egg not included in the video! If a Hardcore character opens a DoG treasure bag in Death mode, they will receive the Cosmic Plushie pet; the easiest way to do this is get a bag, store it, and bring a HC character over to open it and store the loot. Similar to the Companion Cube, the pet has unique interactions in the dark: it may meow, scream, or stab you for 500 damage. It also spawns a Cosmic Guardian when it stabs you, unless your character's named *Terry* - what happens then, I'll leave you to discover (or look up on the wiki, I guess). (;
one thing you can do is kill a boss on normal mode then switch to revengence in order to get the revengence items from the bags without fighting them in revengence
something similar can be done with ravager, astrum aureus and brimstone elemental bags. kill ravager pre providence, dont open bag, kill providence, open ravager bag, get post providence drops without killing a harder version of ravager
Extra tip: You can make an accessory, Astral Arcanum, which is post-CV and it grants unlimited teleportation to the jungle, dungeon, hell and random location. EDIT: There’s also the chaos amulet from the start of hardmode that can grant you unlimited spelunker for the rest of your entire playtrough with it equipped.
A fact most people already know but I’m putting here anyway: If you name your character “Jetstream Sam” or “Samuel Rodriguez” (probably butchered that last one), you can use the murasama, one of the strongest weapons in the mod in prehardmode, whereas you can only uses it after beating phase 2 Yharon
2 more fun facts: Naming your charechter Jetstream Sam allows you to use the murasama without decrypting any blueprints, effectivly making it the best pre-hardmode weapon by a long shot You can purchase the evasion scarf from the clothier after defeating skeltron
other tips i learned or picked up from others: 1. abyssal amulet is crazy strong at early and mid hardmode for an item you can fish during pre-hardmode 2. you can still stack the celestial amulet(accessory that turns you into a werewolf) and all it's components to get crazy stats 3. with the right set up you can kill a number of bosses easily by standing still with the coldheart icicle from the archmage(ex. astrum aureus, polterghast...) 4. reaver shark pickaxe isn't nerfed yet in calamity 5. calamity super buffed the terrarian(moonlord yoyo drop) 6. you can directly kill the lunatic cultist at the beginning of hardmode (by killing rare eidolosts enemies in the dungeon, they drop the summon item)to go straight to pillars and get access to 'fragment' weapons. its a hard fight but doable 7. one of the best starting weapon for melee is the 'marnite spear', easy to craft(especially if you have the architect npc from the alchemistnpclite mod). it has enough dmg and knockback for most early game mobs. 8. there is a calamity mechanic that the deeper you go the darker it gets (i mean really dark) which makes early game spelunking extremely tedious. 9. there is a fortitude potion that gives knockback immunity that could be made way before getting access to the cobalt shield.
A good tip is using luxor's gift with any weapon similar to the shadow flame hex doll. It shoots the projectiles incredibly quickly and are great for extending the weapon's short range.
Doing my first play through with my friend and it’s so much fun! Currently just killed providence and I’m a melee build, using ark of the Elements, and a couple other weapons. Going for galaxias next so I can combine them for ark of the cosmos. Lots of fun
Out of all of these, there was only 6 facts that I didn't know about Calamity. Those being facts 9, 14, 23, 31, 38, 40, and 44. Even now, I'm still learning about really interesting stuff about Calamity, stuff that's super niche but super cool.
My tip: if you need money build a rope up and turn on armagedon then kill king slime, if you have the dryad she sells slimy crowns so you can repeat this over and over
The tip at 1:40 is the single most important thing to do. No matter how annoying it gets, save every single item. Banners, early game accessories, weapons of all types. I’m nearing the end of my play through and it’s my biggest regret. I’m spending so much time farming things I deleted cuz I was lazy.
if you have terrasparks boots or something to walk on liquids you can skip multiple arenas, such as duke fishron, anahita, old duke, aquatic scourge, WoF, brimstone elemental, signus, basically all bosses in the ocean and underworld although you might wanna remove the structures in the underworld and you need good wings. The only bosses in the dungeon are ceaseless void and polterghast, both of which dont require a big arena, so just find a big area and remove the spikes. Using dunerider boots you can cheese pretty much all pre-hardmode bosses especially if you have a crimson/corruption desert, even hive mind/perforators can be fought without an arena. Most bosses that do require an arena only require one row of platformes and thatsit, so unless you have a mod to make arenas fast, dont waste your time just get better.
Hey, nice video. It definitely had a few things I didn't know about. Will be interesting to see how many more things will be added in the next update, as they've been working on it for quite a while now.
I've known a certain money farm that nobody else seems to know, it's making those draedon weapon chargers that are completely free to make on a anvil. When you make them, put them down and then break them and ta-da! You get 1 platinum per 10 draedon weapon charger stations
Not an in-game tip however there are complete patch notes available on the Calamity Wiki. They are made directly by the dev and tester teams, and go into more detail than the changelogs on the discord. (Totally not promoting my own work, nope not at all)
@@Merkalto hey can i request something? can you make individual pages for vanilla items instead of linking it to the vanilla wiki? it's a hassle looking over again and again searching the "vanilla changes" page for a specific item from the vanilla game
@@beauarroyo6590 That is very low on my priority list of things to do. My main focus is prepping the wiki for the next update and creating a full patchlog page for it.
Fun fact for the new versions ??? No longer gives off a visible glow from what I've seen Fractured ark and a few potions can allow you to beat ??? Pre hard mode (use parry on enemys and not projectiles so you get I frames) And also fuck the abyss
one tip for if you want massive amounts of money, get to around post hard mode, or where you start dealing decent damage, and fight eye of cthulhu with armageddon mode on. easy 100+ play in minutes
I just checked the calamity wiki, turns out it was actually a 100% thing. "Originally, every time upon entering phase 6, a status message would say "Cryogen is derping out!"." Guess that explains it lmao
3:38 really all you need is some skill, a gravity potion or a few, and like an enchanted sword if you beat it early you skip a lot of annoying grinding
Question: when you say "hold your summon weapon to deal more damage" You mean just have it highlighted in your hotbar I'm assuming? Im not seeing much of a damage difference whether do or don't so I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong? I'd expect to see a large damage drop not "holding" the current summon
Yep you just need it in your hotbar. Granted I haven't played calamity in a long while, but from my memory, I think its a 10% damage increase for having your summon weapon highlighted, and then if you switch to like a p90 or something, you lose 50% of your summons damage. Hope that helps.
@Obsoleek sure does Obsoleek thank you! Me and my brother are doing our first coop playthru of Calamity. Your video have been so helpful especially the ones that talk about the boss checklist and the recipe finder mods to add in.
@@ashenphoenix6869 this isnt affected anymore unless my game is bugged, any summoner item i use simply does the same damage, no negative debuff or 10% buff
My first time playing Calamity, my friends and I killed Anahita and the Leviathan pre wall of flesh. It took us forever but we (mostly them) got it, and with their loot we were so OP for so long
I recently started a play through with a Murasama. This is because I wanted to fully explore the mod before I dove into a full Revengeance play through. Also cool vid
@@brybrybrybrybrybrybrybrybr1830 eh. with so much stuff to do i didn’t want to take too long finishing up my “exploring” play through. after all, I’ve got only got 3 months of summer break. I still want to do some other stuff as well.
@@brybrybrybrybrybrybrybrybr1830 no, yharon has to be killed to use it XD (or just have a special name) plus its dumb, murasama isnt the best and can be found easily in PHM at the draedon's hell lab..
Extra, The Amidas Spear that you can get for The NPC Amidas is very useful to exploration so if You get It, You should use It, because It can pierce tiles so is useful for map revealing
@@Obsoleek I fail to see how that’s true. In fact I’d argue that as long as you have space, arenas aren’t as important for any of the end game calamity bosses as they are for vanilla bosses. Scal basically has no need for any building, I never build arenas for yharon, for DoG I would at most build just a line of platforms, the sentinels are too easy for arenas to matter most of the time. The 2 endgame dungeon bosses are the exceptions because obviously there is not enough space in a dungeon to fight bosses.
I wish people would do mod load orders for terraria like fo4 or skyrim. I put calamity and a couple other major progress mods and its so confusing. Ima redo my stuff but id love to know all the mods that work well with this mod. And not overdoing or changing calamity.
@@Obsoleek i dont mean the order i mean like a list of mods. Thats what a fallout or skyrim load order is. Rn i have over 50 mods on terraria. But only a couple major ones like calamity and throrium. I got fargos and a bunch of others.
