I loved Fist II also. I sold my C64 like most people did and bought an Amiga. One of my friends still had his C64 and Fist II and I borrowed it so I could play Fist II all the way through. It was definitly the exploration with fights that I liked about it.

Paperboy. I was also a Paperboy when I played it, though on the NES. There were customers on my route that I wished I could throw the paper through their window. Though, none of them had headstones in their yard.

This is probably the best of the 'Top 10/20/50 something' series I've seen because of your personal comments which so remind me of the old days where you'd sit and not understand what was going on because we didn't have the manual! Some great choices there (I think) with Paradroid being my all time favourite. Cheers from the other side of the globe.

Wow! Thank you for the walk down memory lane! I just couldn’t remember the name of the game, but I knew it was by Broderbund, and it was on the C-64. Was glad to find it here, Raid Over Moscow. I completed that one. I watched the entire video wondering if I’d see some of my other favorites like Impossible Mission, Lode Runner, and Karateka. Two out of three isn’t bad. I was also blown away by seeing games I’d forgotten like Bruce Lee, Spy vs. Spy and Bubble Bobble. Once again, Thanks for the memories!

Great list! And as always a few I haven't seen before... Sim City!?! Some great games I would add - King's Bounty, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Maniac Mansion, Boulderdash, Super Sprint... One game that really swept my friend's group back then was "hounded" - we were a group of 12-ish years olds spending hours betting (fake of course) money on the greyhounds - probably a bit inappropriate lol

This is a great list, and awesome to see some love for some obscure classics like Rocketball. I probably would have included Delta or Io over some of the less well known shmups mentioned, and maybe thrown in River Raid, Boulderdash and Pathfinder, but this list has come closer to matching my personal favourites than any other I've seen. Oh, and IK+ wins all the karate games, hands down.

Love the list and thanks for explaining your reasons. I used to think I'd played them all but looking at this I realise there were a bunch I missed. I loved HERO. I always made it a point to try and complete games and that's one that got the better of me but I liked the challenge. I used to think that the thing you got to at the end of the level was like a fire hydrant or something but looking at it now it seems it is someone you are rescuing lol. For some reason I don't remember Beach Head 2 as much as the first but I definitely have fond memories of the level you like. Action Biker was awesome. The items you collect are in order, Once you collect one the next appears somewhere on the map. I presume the point was to collect them all but while I collected loads of stuff (maybe 15 or so from memory) I still never finished it. It's pretty tough to collect so many without dying. My favourite on California Games was half pipe or surfing. I love the look of Thunderbirds - one that escaped me that looks like I'd enjoy. It's a bit difficult to cram my favourites into a top 10 as I'd be missing so many. I'd need more like 50. But these ten could pass as my top 10 I guess. Bubble Bobble Rainbow Island Ricochet Kickstart 2 Rambo Cliffhanger Oink Football manager Jack the Nipper 1 and 2 Frankie Goes to Hollywood

Only 2 on the list , Pirates and Elite that I played alot. I was in my 20's during this era and I probably didn't have more than 25 games I purchased. 7 Cities of Gold, Xcom, Temple of Apshai, M.U.L.E., F15 Strike Eagle, Forbidden Forest, Star Control, Ascendency, Don Budge Pinball construction set, Blue Max, Airborne Ranger, Dune, to name a few. As you can see arcade games weren't something I played much of.

Hi! Thank you for a great nostalgia trip :-) I´m Jonas, from Sweden and 44 by now. Got my C128 in 1986 when I was about to turn 9. Before that I had an Intellivision and a ZX Spectrum. And after that I got a few Amigas before I got stuck with PC-gaming. Still playing, of course :-) The best games for me on the c64 are as follows (even though, not necessarily in the right order) -The Last Ninja (Sort of the reason I wanted a c64 so much) -Pirates -Bubble Bobble -Microprose Soccer -California Games -IK+ -The New Zealand Story -Commando -Nebulus -Ghosts and goblins Ten games which made me spend a lot of hours in front of the computer. There are many more, but those are the ones I can think of right now.

24:00 I just can't get over this part no matter how many times I see it. Those shadow effects are absolutely jaw-dropping for a 1987 game! The shadows even change appropriately to match the characters' movements. I have no idea exactly how hard it was for them to pull that off, but I would assume that it wasn't easy. It's just a shame that they couldn't (or maybe didn't have the time) to have it continue past the pillar and all the way to the end of the room.

Thank you for the tip, I must admit I was sorting out some tapes and thought I should do this video, so it was very impromptu, but I should have put some more thought into the sound, because the echo was rather annoying. Thanks for commenting too, very awesome!

Usagi Yojimbo is the best. I still nod to people in real life, because it's free karma. As a kid I was quite baffled by "If you meet Buddha on the road kill him" but later I read about it. Blue Max and Bruce Lee are also long time favorites for me. You didn't have Space Taxi? Cheers from Finland, where the C64 was "The Computer of the Republic".
@CommodoreComputerMuseum
@CommodoreComputerMuseum 2 года назад
Thanks for your comment. I only discovered Space Taxi last year! Wow, I loved it and I don't know how I had never heard of it back in my hayday. Is that serious about the C64 being the Computer of the Republic? Thanks heaps!!
@maintaint3003
@maintaint3003 2 года назад
@@CommodoreComputerMuseum Well, "Computer of the Republic" was written in magazines at the time, at least. C64 sold well here, I guess. Stavros Fasoulas, despite his exotic name, was Finnish. He programmed Delta and Sanxion. There were other C64 coders as well, mainly musicians and demosceners, and to my knowledge one Finnish game, _Uuno Turhapuro muuttaa maalle._ It's not my favorite. I have 3 C64s and they still work. Such a blessed machine.

I have a huge collection of commodore 64 gear with over 3000 games and programmes on floppy discs. What I would give to go back to the 80s.

Have you checked out the other levels in Platoon? First one was fun, but the second part in the tunnels and night watch after that was brilliant. The third level was really hard. I really liked Pirates!, Falcon Patrol and Blue Max, and off the list Oil Imperium and Infiltrator. The name Oil Imperium is pretty self explanatory (business management), but Infiltrator is a really cool game, where you first fly a helicopter to an enemy base, trying not to get shot down or noticed. In the base you need to go in and steal some documents, escape, and fly off with the chopper. It's really sweet, definitely worth checking out!

Sorry, actually you had to photograph the docs in Inflitrator, not steal them

Yes the tunnel part in Platoon was my favourite! That part was also featured in Blaze out (light gun compilation which was amazing) The shooting gallery in Robocop, the shooting range in Combat school and other levels from games I can't remember were in there too. Good times!

Dudes got the TMNT blue game box. I remember the game had a booklet full of codes that you had to enter every time you loaded it to prevent piracy. The codes was printed on a deep beefy day colour paper with an almost metallic silver font for the codes and the contrast of the two made it almost impossible to read!

I love my commodore64 loved copying friends games with twin cassette recorder . Am I right in remembering it coming with green screen? I’m sure I remember my dad buying me some adaptor, that made it colour. This is the first time that I’ve ever checked out any Commodore 64 games since I had 1 in around 1988 😭 I’m shocked at how good they looked. Especially for the 80’s and how the hell did they get on cassette?
