I remember the apple Express bus line in bay ridge Brooklyn back in the late 80 i miss seeing those buses down town Brooklyn

Great video showing the history of express buses. I always wondered how fast the buses in those slides could top out on express runs. The buses with V8 engines must of been flying down the highways.

Parts of qm11 bus route are actually on top of the E,F,M&R trains Queens Blvd line. Which makes the subway quicker than the express bus in some situations

Aw, no D45S... I can definitely say I'm glad the B103 and Q53 no longer operate as they used to, as their usefulness was extremely limited. Now that they make more stops, they're able to serve as more effective alternatives to other routes (or serve markets that would not have really been possible if they remained as they were).

It's interesting that the MTA and NYC pbl use regular buses for express route and now days Transit agency use transit modified design coachbuses and some still use suburban (for those who don't know a suburban bus is a bus with no back door) bus for express route up to this day.

Very much like the Lincoln Tunnel which also has a peak direction inbound bus lane (in the center tube). Also take note hardly any large trucks in the tunnel, as most exit at Van Dam for the bridge.

Im Pretty sure the Q46X preceeded the QM6 because it is express along the Q46s route today. or it just ran from Kew Gardens to Glen Oaks making no stops.

Nice video. My Father worked for Queens Transit in College Point Queens. Some of the Queens Transit Buses in the video are pictured on location at Queens Transit. Others are out on the road on routes. Pleasant memories. Thank you for sharing.

As a NYCT Express Bus fan, I had to watch this! I just subscribed to my channel and I'd be honored if you saw my express bus videos when you can. My favorite routes are SIM8X, X38, BxM8, QM21 and my fifth is probably the BxM4.
