50 years of preservation at the Great Central Railway | 17/06/2023 

In 2023, the Great Central Railway celebrated 50 years since it reopened as a heritage railway. To mark the occasion, a gala was held in June featuring BR Standard 5MT 73156, BR Standard 2MT 78018, BR Standard 9F 92214, LMS 8F 48305, Sulzer Type 4 D123 Leicestershire And Derbyshire Yeomanry and English Electric Type 3 D6700. Goods trains, including a special 50-wagon set hauled by 92214, ran alongside an intensive passenger service.
