As a cosmetics company executive: powders do not expire it is a ploy the companies put in to place to make you repurchase. If they are in a dry space kept out of sunlight and out of the heat, they will last. Creams and mascaras do expire. 😁
That makes sense to me. Thank you for sharing ❤ maybe as you use the powder, you put bacteria into it that could grow? Just curious, I really don’t know anything about chemistry
Don't throw away palette just because a shade is broken. You can take lets say a lip gloss and a tissue, lay the tissue flat over the broken shadow, and then using the lip gloss bottle, use the bottom of the gloss bottle to press the shadow back in the pan. You can put as much pressure as much as needed. It'll for sure work!! I've had a few shadows in my palettes break and this always works :)
I was trying to watch this while making dinner. I was too intrigued and nearly burned dinner. I am sitting down and watching this again with my after dinner coffee. Love this declutter.
I love watching declutters but damn, I get overwhelmed by the amount of stuff. I'd get decision fatigue so quickly if my collection was like this, I would definitely not be able to do this job 😂
SAME! James Charles won’t either. I have always loved the color story, and the formula is fine. Marc Jacobs Beauty palettes will never leave my collection. In fact, I have hunted down and bought duplicates. His formula is AMAZING! BH Cosmetics will also never go anywhere. Oh and my Jackie Aina palette. So many palettes that I will NEVER get rid of. 😂
@@veronicahayes2635 Yep! I have bought a few on Poshmark. I even have backups for 2 different palettes 😂 His formula is one of the best!!! Blows ND and PG out of the water (in my opinion).
It’s always a grounding experience to watch influencers easily get rid of the stuff they told us to buy with our hard earned money. Meanwhile, we’re still using the expired palettes that were hyped up years ago 😬
Honestly they are not truly getting rid of cause they don’t like , it’s because they gotta make room for the new . They always donate to friends and Non profits so they can use .. but they still love things just they get a ton of new stuff and gotta make room ..
I think in general makeup is just *good* these days. If they kept everything good they reviewed they would need to buy an extra house 😂 love declutters to single out the favey faves though
What do you expect them to do though? Keep everything forever? Decluttering is inevitable when you get PR and have a huge collection. just because they declutter something they once recommended, doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t like it anymore.
I purchased the Lime Crime Venus Xl 2 about 2 months before ND released the Retro Glam palette. I have to say that they are kind of similar but different enough to have both. I don't know why people didn't like the formula on the Lime Crime palette. Unless they changed the formula since then. I love it for the variety of different looks that I can get. Love the warm tones in the palette also.
I started decluttering my makeup, if I didn't love it it had to go. So I would have to use what I enjoy and not what I guilt myself into using because I didn't love it. So liberating!
The Hannah Louise Poston declutter series from December has changed the way I’m thinking about my collection and I’m rewatching it now so I’m inspired to get into it. I’ve already cut my lip products in half. I gave my friend a bag with probably 50 lippies and she was so excited about it! It makes it easier to say goodbye to my things when I know they will be getting some good use elsewhere. She told me that when she got home and showed everything to her sisters and her mom they were all so happy and grateful. I’m also selling a bunch of stuff on Mercari and that’s also pretty gratifying because I’m getting back some of the money I spent on it all (& I spent a lot 😂)
I love you keep as many palettes as you do. This is your job and your love. I appreciate so much your comparisons it really helps me decide on a purchase.
I tend to keep all my powder palettes unless I don’t like them or they’ve been stored improperly or some such or don’t perform anymore (or got broken and I couldn’t fix and I’ve fixed many). So I don’t part with many powder makeup products honestly as long as I like them. I do however regularly declutter my liquid and cream products like concealer and foundations. I will keep my powder palettes as long as possible and have never had one go bad on me yet! I’ve used up palettes though but that usually took me years and / or I used that one palette exclusively until gone. Those days are gone because now I’m a collector and have more palettes than any one person will need in a lifetime. Yet I’m still trying new ones. 🤦🏻♀️😏It’s a good thing my husband has been so understanding!!!😳haha. He’s the best. I need a new hobby lol. I have certain ones that I will never let go and others where I’m sort of so-so about and perhaps those could go and make room in my makeup drawers. ☺️Nonetheless this is not my job like it is Morgan’s so it’s all a different decluttering process for me. I just get called a nut for my collection and can’t even justify it by my profession! Lol!
I agree with everything you said even down to the very understanding husband. He thinks I’m a RU-vidr OR should be one with the size of my collection. What can I say I looove makeup and playing with makeup.
I was sad about you saying goodbye to the Too Faced Gingerbread Extra Spicy palette. I preferred that one over the first Gingerbread one. I have both and I’m keeping them until they rot. LOL
Some of my eye palettes are 10 yrs old (Most are limited chanel and lancome face and eye palettes that I can never getting rid of 🤦♀️), and they’re still working fine. I’ve done some researches and kinda figured that powder cosmetics do not have an expiration date, their performance might lower by time (Which start reducing after 5 yrs or so), but as long as it’s working and doesn’t dry out completely, then youre good to use it. I have a Bareminerals powder blush since they first released, and a powder foundation that I come back time to time in the summer 😂😂😂, have no problem or infection so far using these ‘expired’ makeup. Just my two cents 😊😊😊
@@AM-ry4px yep!! Especially if you only use them a few times a year (if that), use clean brushes AND are the only person who uses your OWN makeup! I don’t throw out expensive eye palettes for anything
My big regret was buying ABH Modern Renaissance. It was sooo expensive, and the colour story did not work on my skintone AT ALL. If I had waited, I would have gotten that Riviera one, as it's so much more my style. I have no clue why everyone hates it. That Alice in Wonderland one is the one I've been trying to get for a while that keeps getting away😹😹, it's so my colour story, and has been oos for ages. Crux Ansata(Ankh) is the last of the Egyptian shadows I want(I think). Your posts with that Scarab one are making me second guess myself, as Mauves haven't been my thing in a couple decades, though the Scarab compact absolutely is. I'm hoping the shade expansion on the face powders I was told about return soon, and if I can dream a bit, that they make refills for them. I'm still going to get the rest of the powder compact designs because I'm in love with them, and the formula is so silky and doesn't fill in/exaggerate the texture around my eyes. I would love to know what you would recommend to prep the eyes for shadow, as so far everything I've tried is exaggerating the textures around my eyes. As someone who budgets for makeup (which is why buying Modern Renaissance HURT), and had a relative in the industry, if you're diligent with cleaning your brushes and wiping down/sanitising the palettes and powder products before storage in a cool dry area, you can keep them for quite a long time. Some of my palettes are embarrassingly ancient, but still perform as well as they did new. I'm glad friends will have fun with all of those. Also, some shelters will take gently used, sanitised palettes, and for those I have only used complementary shades, I have made good palettes with the unused shades by getting cheap magnetic palettes and filling them, then wrapping them up in cling film before donating.
The only one I’m maybe a little sad, well, not sad, just worried about regret, is the too faced extra spicy. Not becaus I like it, because I don’t like it! But I always like seeing how newer ones compare to it. And it reminds me of color stories I don’t like, so I remember to avoid certain newer things that might look the same.
Morgan should do a Poshmark or Mecari acct and get some money back. Shipping is so easy if u have a printer I can print label easily from home and ship right from ur home don't Even got to go to the post office if you don't want to as long as you got the stuff at home to ship it in and the labels are super easy like I said to print anyway what a beautiful collection Love your videos
Lol @ "I just don't to reach for it." There are 365 days in a year, even if you wore eyeshadow every single day you'd still have hundreds you can't reach for
Laughing so hard at "Oh a broken tray I'll have to throw it away" 🤣 you can tell the difference between the old school gurus who know it's an easy fix and new beauty gurus who think it's just gabage now
Maybe some day I will watch you doing a better declutter... I mean you don't even reach for 100 palettes 🤣 I know you can do it better ... Just let go hahahaha
Please SEND ME ALL those pallets please I would love to start working with eyeshadow into my make up, I'm a self taught make up artist. So please contact me if your willing to send me any.
I don’t know how I would feel about hiring a makeup artist that has to beg for all her makeup and supplies. Your inventory would be inconsistent and your business is doomed to fail if you can’t even afford to buy the things you need in order to sustain your business.
Colourpop is so wasteful with their PR sending....there is no way in hell one person can use and try all they're sending out. I fully believe if they let influencers pick and choose there would be a lot less decluttering going around lol
The other day i had to go through my expired makeup, and I like to turn a blind eye to eyeshadow palettes. They are so unique in some ways. A blush is a blush, a contour is a contour, but eye palettes are practically like throwing away a painting. I have both of Fenty Beauty's original eyeshadow paletes in the octagonal packaging, and unless they grow visable spores i will not get rid of those, they are too iconic (the latest smell test did tell me they are no longer for eyes though🤢, and they get stored away from my other makeup)
To prevent that in the future, get a fine mister(15ml ones on Amazon are cheap), and fill with 91% isopropyl or purchase a cosmetic sanitising spray. Use it on your palettes at least once a week. Clean your brushes after each use is ideal, but once a week is decent. If you can, get a colour switch(Shop MissA has them for cheap) it's like a rough sponge in a dish to knock off the excess shadow/powder. Also keeps them cleaner because your natural oils and the pigments don't stay in the brush as long using it, plus cleaning the brushes are far easier with less product stuck in them.
Oh, and if you live in a super humid climate like I do(cannot seem to get away from humidity😹😹), getting a train case/acrylic tub and putting dessicant packets with them keeps the humidity levels down. When storing them for a season, I sanitise and pop them into a Ziploc with dessicant packets to keep them dry, and put into a bottom drawer of my vanity because it's coolest down there.
@@DinkyInky2 all my old fenty palettes were def before I started being sanitary with my makeup. I am clean now with my palettes & i've picked up sanitary tips from all the mua's I have worked with :) I do like the seperate container for summer though! Toronto gets so humid now from climate change that I may start doing this.
I definitely would have kept that Nude Pop palette from Kevyn Aucoin. I still have mine and it is still amazing. The formula is so good and the looks I get from it are beautiful
Morgan even if you disinfect and send for the ones you only swatches that should be ok .. I can win that giveaway if ya want 😂😂 hey I will take your star wars broken or not ❤ I don’t have any color pop yet except going coconuts from someone ..
Can we get a Swatch & Sip that is your favorite palettes from your favorite brands? Ooh and can you do a ranking? It would help to quantify what you mean by “good quality” as compared to other palettes that have good formulas. Eg, how do the Viseart shimmers compare to PMG, or the mattes to ND?
Personally, I always liked Naked Heat pallet. I still have it and use it. I don’t make a lot of money so I can’t spend it on make up. I really wanted Naked Heat when it came out. But decided I couldn’t afford it. A couple of days later I saw an ad on FB that a local lady was selling it brand new for $15. I thought it would be fake but decided to risk it. I met up with her in front of a local grocery store and immediately got the feeling that she was a decent person. I looked at the pallet and sure enough it was brand new and looked exactly how the real one is supposed to look as opposed to a fake one. She said she just got it and decided she didn’t want it. I bought it for $15. I went home and went on line again to see what details the real one has and it all matched. Plus, after I used it first time I knew the quality was very good. You have a beautiful collection. Some of the pallets I saw were so gorgeous. I didn’t see any Jeffrey Star pallets in your collection. Do you own or ever had any of his make up? Is there a reason? I understand that JS is a controversial person and some people will not use his products for that exact reason. I was just curious.
The naked heat. Oh how I loved that palette. But…. If I ever want a very warm toasty look, I usually end up reaching for the Natasha denona bronze palette instead of naked heat. Naked heat has been replaced by ND Bronze, for me. Every time I want to use heat, I pull it out, and every time I end up setting it back down and grabbing Bronze instead.
You should make a page of mystery boxes and sell them to get some of your money back .. that’s what a couple influencers did do .. I would buy 1 or 2 😂😂❤
The Aucoin palette is so good! So is the Marc Jacobs too. I talked to the brand. I was told they were reformulating. That hasn't occurred unfortunately.
I would love to see a video with a full face of fluersis(spelling is wrong I'm sure) They have some blushes and face palette I would love your opinion on before buying
