503 is 856's son. 856 is the one who mated with and guarded 402, his favorite female the year before 503 was born. 503 has 856's characteristic build, tall and long. At only 11 years old he will rule the falls for a long time just as his father did. Give it just a few more years.
Just saw another video of 503 posted by willynilly of 503 standing up to 32 chunk. 503 frame is so much bigger. It looks like 503 will be ruling the falls at around the same age is mostly likely daddy 856 began his long running reign. I'd still give it a year more or so, but it's going to happen.
856 is more than likely 503's father. He is like a younger clone of 856. He already whipped him once. I expect 503 to eventually be the dominant bear at the falls for a long time.
