Because they can. They need to lose.money for tax purposes. I've spent last ten years building these things. Yes in stowe vt. I live in next town over. These are all over the place. Hardly used. Basically ski shacks 2 weeks a year. Maybe a week during summer.

Sadly this house will never sell until the owners understand that the price is is just a pipe dream. Possibly it might help if the price was in the region of $2-3 million. Take the loss and use it for tax purposes then you can finally move on.
And they give 5 grand a year to homeless charity. I've spent last 10 years building these monstrosities. Used maybe 3x a year. 2 weeks during winter one during summer. MAYBE. Disgusting I know but it's a paycheck for me. Most of them are literally because they are spending down income for taxes.
