If you're looking to buy a Gibson but don't want to completely break the bank these Les Paul Standard Faded guitars might be for you. I mean you are still going to shell out over $2000 but this might save you a little more from a regular standard. Let me know what you think in the comments? For the record I do not own any Gibson guitars. Is there really an affordable Gibson LP?

I just got my first 2022 Gibson LP Standard ‘50s Bourbon burst. Great demo. In my new to Gibson research, I have to laugh a little at the hair splitting tone debates the revolve around Gibsons. As soon as I plugged mine in…wham! It’s instantly “that” Gibson tone. Yet people still bicker with each other over bridges, tailpieces, bridge poles directly into the body vs. threaded pole mounts, finishes, pickups, body weight, weight relief, single-slab body vs. two-piece bodies, etc.,….creating debate that they are effecting tone. All I did was get my stock 2022 Gibson LP, plugged it in, & BAM, there it is! 😆 The debates really are a bit ridiculous. I have to laugh because the average audience member can give two shits & can’t even tell the difference, as long as your kicking ass up there. Good playing Bud!🤘🏼🎸🔥

I would say no-one can hear the difference. Every guitar sounds a bit different, two same sounding guitars dont exist but the differences are mostly so minor a normal ear cant hear anything. 50s here too, I never thought I would get Gibson but the color in50s with faded finish was just too pretty and not regretting since the tone is really good.

Good video, you mentioned that you do not own any Gibson guitar. You know it is just a matter of time. I have many faded Gibson(or satin finish), I even have a ES-333 and a PRS and I like the feeling of it. In my head, they sound more open.

I got 50s. Faded looks much better and they say it sounds better since there isnt a layer of gloss suppressing vibration etc. I have no idea about this sound things but hey sure look and feel much better to my eye. And without a pick guard the looks is just so gSlashy.

The les paul Tribute or Studio are both affordable used. Around 800-1000. Both play and sound great.

Love my tribute, it’s a great guitar and I paid 1000 brand new. Currently trying to pick up another one for sale locally.

I have the 50s faded and love it. I prefer the satin/more worn in feel, especially on the neck. If you like a chunkier neck, the 50s is for you.

I guess affordable is subjective. They’re both good looking, good sounding examples of a LP Std, and I love the sound of LP through a tube amp. So much of what’s now in our DNA is the product of that combination. That said, as a practical gig guitar, they’re heavy and you’re committed to the HBucker sound unless you have P90s. I have an old Deluxe ( mini buckers) and I can get fender territory mids, but it’s a heavy gtr and 3 sets with that anvil and you’re feeling it. My advice to anyone wanting a real LP and is willing to go for the bread is to play as many as you can to find the “one”. Another great video Rich, thanks

I have a chibson cherry burst standard that looks exactly like this guitar, great for gigging so I can leave my expensive guitars at home, for $225 delivered to my door, aliexpress has a ton of Chinese knock off, with a pickup upgrade it's hard to tell the difference, much lighter then my Gibson LP too,that 50s model Gibson is beautiful, I actually like the matt finish, doesn't show as many scratches

why don't you own any LP or Gibsons? hows the weight relief on these fades?? I have the tribute and its about 8 pounds. I prefer no weight relief to get more sustain, Thanks!

I have the 60’s faded, it was my first Gibson and it’s still my favorite. Love the finish, it has made me fall in love with satin finishes so much though that I’m on the lookout for a 50’s faded to complete the set. Great video 👍👍

Both nice looking guitars although I do prefer a gloss finish. I think both guitars have the same pickups ?, so the only difference may be in the neck profiles. Haven't played either of these guitars so not sure. Some of the prices have gone crazy of late.

I think they have different pickup sets. 50's has burstbucker 1 and 2 (alnico 2 magnets), 60's has "60's burstbucker pickups" which have alnico 5 pickups (a little bit hotter)
