In this episode I take you through the steps I took to improve the pull out section of the layout. It began life with just two tracks but soon was changed to four tracks so I could run trains continually without having to stop one for another to cross the bridge, this was a major job a good while ago. Since then I have never been happy with it being a pull out section and wanted to fix it in place on hinges. I went about designing the hinges and 3D printing them to my own specifications. The track was re-laid not only over the bridge but in the wardrobe section as well to improve running.
This is part one of the build as I soon realised that it does not look finished so I intend extending the bridge with an embankment either side, this will be part two in the future.

Fantastic workmanship Geoff, love the way you extended the tunnel entrance. If I ever get me shed I will need something like this...Simon

Thanks Simon, it took a few hours of head scratching in the beginning so I could make sure it would work okay without a total re-build. I think whenever we want to change something on our layouts we worry too much about having to destroy previous work.

Looking good Geoff, I much prefer a hinged lift up, than a lift out! Nice idea on the printed hinges!

@@JumbleLane I only do resin, not filament! Personally, I would make the hinge from metal, but then I tend to over engineer stuff! Lets discuss in a few years time, as to how the plastic is holding up! lol

It all takes time, sometimes I was eager to get on with ballasting but soon realised it was more important to run trains a lot first to test out the track
