51 years later & LIVE! It's Dame Shirley Bassey producing a TIMELESS vocal! 

A few years ago I got some dufus tell me you're too old to sing. I started late around 35 years old. Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt. I hope to be well into 86, there is so much to learn and improve for you.

Could it be it is prerecorded here? Note I am not complaining, I am not blaming. Certainly her voice is sensational for a 85 yo singer. BTW I love her singing The Rythm Divine. What a grandeur, magnitude, authority. And the Yello production is giving it the super-modern touch that makes it sound so contemporary.

The analysis is an excellent compliment. Shirley's contemporary Barbra Streisand is 81 years old and time has impacted her voice and as a result Ms. Steisand (famous for her high and long notes as Shirley) cannot do it any longer and struggles. Shirley has supernatural genetics combined with a healthy lifestyle. I credit everything to her living in Monaco. 😉

I would be even better if I could practice more but live in a mobile home once a week is all my neighbors will tolerate these walls are thin. Eg, things fall off shelf's and my DVD player always falls off the telly lol

I remember when Goldfinger was first released in The States. I had never heard anything like this wonderful performer, and I've loved her ever since.

Check out her performance of 'Goldfinger' at the 2011 BAFTAS I think it was. Her performance, and the orchestra sound, is mind blowing.

@@scooby1992 I forgot about "Moonraker". Everyone involved with that song, including Dame Bassey hated that song. The writers only had a couple of days to write it & it shows.

I'm 58 and a drummer, most don't give us the credit we deserve, some will argue but out of all instruments the drums are the most difficult to master. We use both hands and feet. Many guitar players argue that playing guitar is more difficult, well just Google guy's 🥱

She was my grandmother’s favourite, my mom & her sister’s favourite and I love her too! All have passed so I can’t say watch this.

I just read something very interesting on Wikipedia... "In the latter mid-1980s Bassey had started working with a vocal coach, a former opera singer, and her album Keep the Music Playing (1991) displayed a grand, operatic pop style on several songs".

I always listen to Shirley on headphones.. and you’re right the better the headphones the more incredible her voice is ❤️

E! I’m actually 60 this year 2023 and Shirley is same age as my parents. She was 83 I think at the BAFTAS. I’ve adored her since a youngster. Not just her fabulous voice, her charisma, glamour- she’s one of a kind. I enjoyed this lecture as I can’t sing. Thank goodness for younger people like him appreciating her!!!!!!!!!
