Just got my injection pump back from Area Diesel Service. $925. So glad I went with them. Bad solenoid, flex ring in pieces, bad cam ring. Very fast turnaround in under a week. Thanks for the lead Clint

The "paint" is CARC. Chemical Agent Resistant Coating. It comes out of the paint gun almost like pressurized pudding. I sprayed an entire divisions worth of equipment in Saudi back in 1991.
@mikehunt3222
@mikehunt3222 2 месяца назад
What did you use, an airless paint sprayer or something like an undercoating gun, because a regular paint gun would never spray paint that thick through it?

Back in 1968 my National Guard unit the 116th combat engineers was sent to Vietnam to the central high lands and we got all new equipment. We had 2 new CAT D7 dozer with the tilt blade. I got to play with it from time to time. We arrived just as the rainy weather started and our base camp got so muddy that the only thing that could move was the D7. I would hook up the small water trailer and drag it to the water point and back to the mess tent. Was quite a site to see a big D7 with this very small tank with wheels thru the mud. So much fun for me to do that. We turned in our TD 18 dozer when we left home.

If they painted that dozer like we painted out M151A2 Jeeps, they used house paint and a paint brush. When I was at Ft. Polk we painted them every time we came back from the field. Sometimes we painted them BEFORE we went to the field because we would have a big inspection before we went. I was in a Military Police unit so everything had to be spit and polished all the time. There was so much paint on those Jeeps, and the trailers, it was crazy. But, thats what the brass wanted so we did it. Great job as always gentlemen.

Your comment brings back the memory of a friend of mine who bought a surplus Coates tire changing machine, and being the particular guy he was he stripped off the many, many, many coats of paint on it and of course repainted it original color. He said the thing had been painted so many times that it would not even operate due to the paint buildup. I do not understand why, oh why some outfits get so carried away with painting everything all of the time, and generally with poor preparation for proper paint adhesion. The only way to properly prepare the surface is to bring it down to the bare metal and refinish it as was done here. You get more mileage out of your paint job that way.

I’ve noticed in the last few videos more and more snap on tools have been used. I’m a fan of most tool brands that work and last especially snap on. Glad to see you guys are upgrading to a tool that can still brake but looks good doing it. Keep it up guys again love the channel.

Also, as a former MAC Tools dealer I would tell my customers that they would only have to buy a wrench made by Mac one time as we would warranty them for the lifetime of the tool for defects in materials and workmanship. The only time they would have to pay for a wrench is if they lost it or someone stole it. I had a man come on my truck here in the Jacksonville Fl area who had an inch and a quarter combination wrench that he bought in Alaska in 1962 that had the chrome peeling off of it (MAC would warranty this due to the danger of the chrome cutting the hands). I reached for a brand new one (that costs considerably more in 1983) and handed it to him. Grant you those wrenches cost quite a bit, but I also tried to carry a stock of tools and such that fit the demands of the workplace and there were many times I was able to get mechanics out of a jam by having something on the truck to enable them to get the job done.

If it might be possible just how does Kevin remove all that thick and often flaking paint from those ex-military machines. I know from what you said in the video it would need sand blasting to do this job but what abrasive does he use to strip that incredibly thick paint? Can a clean finish be achieved in one pass or are two or more required? etc. etc. I do think that whoever has been involved in that process the end results are quite remarkable. To me it looks as though it has just come off the showroom floor, congratulations to all involved for an excellent job. You should feel mighty proud of the results of your work . Regards, Dan

hey C & C EQUIPMENT, i love your videos, they are always really great! the reason the paint was flaking off and is so thick is because it was applied with a paint brush after the factory job. At least that is how it was when i was in the Marine Corps back in the 70' s

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. This was definitely an exception to all your normal videos. Appears someone had already done all the typical needed work and in the process messed up one little detail. You come along with your all knowing history of little details and trace the problem back and quickly fix it. The last person to work on this had to have been extremely frustrated and probably tried everything they could think of to fix it. Can’t imagine what their reaction to watching this video would be, rage for missing such a little detail or relief that it was finally solved. Kevin certainly gave it the refresh it deserved with the sand blasting and paint. Looked brand new. Great job 👏. Wishing you and your family the best. Ps was going to say family and crew but it’s obvious that even the people who aren’t blood are certainly family at your shop.
