@@SnadinWhile both parts of the dual monarchy had their own national flag the black and yellow flag which was also used by the austrian empire was used when the country as a whole needed to be represented with a flag and yes the flag that most people associate with austria-hungary is just the civil ensign so you're mostly right
@@theoneblock7107 I guess that is partially true, The Hasburg flag (which was the flag included here) was used most of the time, however the Hungarian Monarchy flag was also used, since the country was a dual monarch. The one most people use is only for civilian use.
I get that it wasn't actually the real flag and that austria-hungary didnt have an actual state flag but it's easier to recognize and overall is better for representing the time hungary gained great autonomy comparative to for example 1850 austria which had the same flag as shown in the video 😊
@@3pw878In WW1 propaganda images they used as the state flag the old flag of Austrian Empire, but nowadays we use the CIVILIAN flag of Austria Hungary (the one with both emblems) to differentiate between both empires.
@@Rasecoon27 actually sometimes they used in WW1 propaganda the flag of Austria(the black and gold flag) and the flag of Hungary, both of them, or in one poster there was a flag Half Austrian(Black Gold) and half Hungarian(Green, White, Red)
Not really, the territories were wrong, Bulgaria was severely diminished from land in the video, and they don't distinguish occupied v owned territory. I wouldn't really care about the rest if they at least got Bulgaria correct, that was the bare minimum. Besides that, I appreciate the idea

Fact: Austria-Hungary has no offical flag, in reality its still the Austrian Empire Flag, the Austria-Hungary flag is only used for their navy and sometimes on the battlefield

Ok hear me out. The start of WWI was caused because a serb assassinated the archiduque of Austria-Hungary. Since Serbia did nothing, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia to invade them. Russia came in to Serbia's aid, and so Germany came to the aid of his dear ally. The central powers were totally in the right of this war, however they got punished for this. This is why Hitler was TECHNICALLY in the right, since he felt offended that Germany got punished for being in the right, and so got revenge. I do say "technically" since he did commit 30 war crimes.
The "reason" ww1 started was because the Central Powers wanted Hegemony and specifically Germany, colonies, which in order to be taken there needed to be a war with the Entente. The "occasion" was the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand by Gavrielo Princip, aided by the Serbian government. War was inevitable, any occasion could've started it. No one is at fault for the war, it's just normal for the countries that lost to be punished
