I hope when you did your final install you put the bolts in the upper control arms from the top down. That is why the 2 notches are in the control arms.
@@davidgrimble2531 its the opposite, the notches are so that a T-bolt can be inserted and turned so that they dont come out, they install from the bottom UP with the nut facing the top of the control arm. Its not possible any other way
I just so happen to be making very similar mods to my '57 3100, except I'm using the Full Tilt kit as delivered, and my truck's previous owner had installed a TCI MII front suspension. On the TCI kit, the same calipers (the Wilwood forged units that you are using) are contacting the caliper brackets prior to the calipers fully seating. Was wondering if you found anything similar?
So if the caliper brackets are at all like mine, they have a little pad on the mounting ears that is just part of the casting. However its meant to leave, or shave down depending upon what rotor width, caliper you use. I had to shave mine. They protrude 1/8” if you leave them, and are flush if you shave them.
If you email me (address in vid description), I’ll send you the original frame blueprint. If the frame rails are the same width apart, you can use this or any IFS kit for these trucks. The only thing you will have to do is find center wheel base, which is found by measuring from each leaf spring bolt on the same side, and then marking center.
I know this build is over a year old but I was compelled to share, that as far as the rotor mishap I've read that Corvette spindles along with their bearings are some of thickest beefy upgrades you could make for a performance build.
So, I dont know if I put it in another video, but what happened was, the caliper brackets had 1/8” tabs cast into them. This made the caliper sit 1/8” off, not allowing a 1” rotor. I carefully ground down the 1/8” tabs and the calipers lined up perfectly and accepted the 1” drilled and slotted rotors.
Hello ! GREAT video! Did you end up swapping out the old rubber dust boots to the Energy Suspension? What is the part # for upper and lower dust boots, if you don’t mind me asking. I have the same upper and lower and I’m trying to find the part # to order. Thanks for your help
Ha! Great question - one that Im STILL trying to figure out. I looked at the size of every one of their boots in millimeters and NONE of them match the upper or lower control arm ball joints. As soon as I find suitable poly replacements, I will make a video showing which ones I chose and the ridiculous effort it’s taking to find them!
Thanks! A ford 5 x 4.5. But I maybe have to re drill my rear axles to a chevy pattern for wheel availability reasons. Check it out: 55' Chevy Truck is FINALLY a Roller... Now What? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JWozLZcG37U.html
@@MrBigal123123 yes they do make them. But my rear axles are from a Ford Explorer so I decided to stick with the Ford pattern all around… unfortunately, the matching wheels I need are only available in a Chevy pattern so I will most likely have to drill the axle flanges. No biggie
@@adamvalenzuela6626 measure your tie rods and see if they are different lengths and possibly installed on the wrong sides. The instructions were wrong in my kit, I only needed one spacer, not two. Also, if you find you still need a different length, call them, and they’ll swap it out. None of these kits are ever exact in my experience… wait till you see my 4 link kit video and what I had to do🙄
Speedway included them in the M2 kit, but they can be purchased separately if you need: www.speedwaymotors.com/Mustang-II-Rack-Spacer-3-4-Inch,37559.html?CSEGoogle&CSE&CSEGOOGLE&gclid=Cj0KCQiA8t2eBhDeARIsAAVEga0RLNZoMeF2zmTlTqMsQm6SvP20eNYGNHlKCZtBN7Dw0OIiRUbDGPAaAhCaEALw_wcB
