4K video of a 55 year old DC-9 taking off from Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, KY (SDF) and heading for Queretaro International Airport in Mexico (QRO).
This aircraft was delivered and had its first flight in December 1967 and is now operated by Mercado Libre. At one time, it was owned and operated by Airborne Express then later DHL.

55 years old and still going strong, I don't see why some airlines are retiring their jets that are only 20 years old.

@@user-su5cm1kh9n It's not that much different from the newer planes we see today, in fact I'd argue that in some cases, the brand-new planes break even more than the old ones since they're packed to the brim with technology.

@@thecomedypilot5894 dont think you understood his comment very well... What makes you think that modern planes break more often? Got any Source or statistcs to back up your claim? Also Modern Planes are not only much more Fule efficient due to decades of enginge evolution, these are also much quiter. you can hear in the video how noisy the plane is.

@@chuck_norris It’s from my experience, and if you look at accidents/incident rates, newer planes have a slightly higher rate than extremely older jets, my guess is because it requires more manual control.

I think it is a phenomenon of this century. We are conditioned to renew something we bought not too long ago such as mobile phones. Most people do not care whether their phones are unhealthy enough to require a new purchase. They just buy it as it also provides a subtle recognition and a juicy pride among others. (Look I have a new phone that I bought once I liked it. ) In terms of planes, renewal of equipments support those who own it in a similar way. Airliners brag about their newest, the most state of art fleet that optimizes safety, fuel efficiency etc at their commercials. Then, they get more consumers.
