555 timer circuit step by step wiring in monostable one shot mode NE555 

Great video. You explain things very well. Ignore I need to stop the video and rewind. I do like your detailed explanation as I learn more, I appreciate the level of detail you bring to your videos.

OMG!!!! thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I've been working on this one mode for probably a week and could not get it to work. I didn't have a stupid 0.01uf ceramic capacitor and thought maybe that was the problem. I watched countless videos. They all start out with explaining how the chip and circuit work and I had seen them so much I could recite that part by memory. One nice thing about your video is that it was so much easier to see where the components went vs the other ones, although I reviewed an reviewed and couldn't figure out where I was going wrong. In all those other videos the people got their circuit to work and said how easy it was which just rubbed salt in my wound. For whatever reason your video was easy to follow and whatever I was doing wrong in the past was corrected. I can finally sleep tonight! Yes I was getting up in the middle of the night trying to make this circuit which was probably counterproductive, being tired and all. I watched your video, did what I thought I did dozens of times, only THIS TIME IT WORKED!!!! YAY!!!!

I was getting frustrated I couldnt get it to work. I used a 10uf 25v capacitor instead of 50v. Finally I seen some chips I ordered but have never used them. They look just like the 555 timer. So I read the package and I was using a lm 386 . I changed the chip to the correct 555 and it works. Great learning video. Now I am going to switch capacitors and resistors to experiment and learn about this 555 chip.

So how do I fix it so when I hold the switch the output doesn't continue be high. I'm trying to get about 2 millisecond signal but it's affected by how fast I can press.

When I meter the capacitor after pressing the button the capacitor builds volts. I put a 1000uf in so it would take longer. The capacitor builds to about 3.3 volts then the led cuts off. When the led is off and I meter the capacitor it's 0 volts.

Is there a circuit like this that would make the led go on and off three times then stop until the voltage is re-applied? Thanks.

Which resistor do I need to change to make the duration of the LED being lit longer? Thanks, the video is very clear and concise.
