very nice progress Mike. I am impressed you have a nice copper backer plate. You can try a technique that might help you with your seam welding. Do a weave pattern either a square pattern across the seam or a 45 degree weave where you dab off the seam and drag across the seam to the next dab off the seam. Speed comes with practice and that is hard when you only weld an hour or so at a time. I have the same problem as I am a welder but most of my time is spent running a CNC press brake. The slot in the lower flange of the scuttle is for a front wing mounting bolt. ( at least that is the way my front wing mounts. There is a large hole on the inner closing panel that I use a 7/16 nut driver to put the bolt thru and thread the bole into the cage nut that is on the wing. A great way to attach the cage nuts is a 1/8" hole in the cage nut tab and a quick plug weld with the TIG welder. Very easy, very strong, and looks like a spot weld. Continue on, as I enjoy your work. Frank

Thanks Frank... a few years back I taught myself to TIG weld after watching a few Trev's Blog videos (love them) and then doing a lot of practice before working on a panel. Now that I have a little more experience, it would probably be a good idea to pause, and go back to the drawing board and try to improve my base skills another notch. I had not seen your square/45 weave passes, I'll have to give those a go. Even with cheaters, part of my problem is being able to see the seam in the act. THANKS again for the advice!

It is coming along really nicely Mike. Do you have the other side of the car to do?
