OK... you've answered my first question (I think). Apparently their were 2 versions of the 6-line DESK (Business -Phone) which I've (till now) I've only ever referred to as the "565". Now, I see that there was a "564"-model also. It's "My Guess" that the "564" came first. Now here's my confusion. When I was 5, I distinctly remember seeing a 6-button DESK phone on a desk at my elementary school. The line -buttons on that phone were "ROUND"! Am I correct in assuming that the "564"-model had the "ROUND" line buttons... And the "565"-model had the "SQUARE" line -buttons? OR... Is the difference between the 564 and 565 that "RINGER" you mentioned. The (2-conductor type or the 4-conductor type. OR... Did All of Western Electric's 6-line "DESK" telephones (564 And 565) have ONLY the "2" conductor ringer? 5:47

Hello thank you for the video I had a question about the lamp missing from the hold button location what would a use case scenario be for a lamp to be operating in that slot? I have never seen a hold button illuminated would be kind of need to see a lamp behind the red button. Thanks.

The hold lamp was generally used for message waiting. ! out of my 10,000 were ever used. I used them when i added a switch to turn off the ringer, this way the user knew the bell was off. They can be used for anything, It uses a standard 51A 10volt or a 52A 24-volt lamp. The cord wires are y-gn /gn-y In Itt and We. A phone from WE used the y-gn/gn-y for their buzzer in 2565 / 2565 phones.

Hey, thank you very much for passing on your knowledge and for your willingness to thoroughly explain the process, even if it is the simplest. I had a question: when you said that if I had a second line, I could move the ringer lead over to line 2 tip and ring. Does this configuration allow me to answer the two lines separately when selecting the corresponding buttons? If the answer is yes, what happens to line 1, once I removed the ringer lead from it to put it on line 2? I have the WE 565 and two lines that I would like to use on this device. Thanx!

If I understand your question, moving the ringer wires means you will not have any way of knowing if you are receiving a call on line 1. Without the 1A2 ksu there is no hold or lamps. You have a single line phone with a line selector.

Where can I find a diagram for a western electric 2565 hk ? What leads are for the headset to hear a dial tone?
