Flosports-partner-access/2023 US Open Wrestling Championships 04-26-2023 - 57 Kg Final - Zane Richards, Illinois RTC - TMWC Vs Nick Suriano, Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club 3858
@@xzjayz7925 i’m not sure if we’re talking about the same part. I’m talking about when he was awarded two points out of bounds. They called it a double leg. To me, he did not have control.
@@daytonasayswhat9333 I was referring to the time stamp when he was “grounded”. Suranio could’ve get to a double so he tried going for a single, which I feel he couldn’t have finished. I think they should’ve awarded him a push out point but regardless I just think this Ref blows. Not cause she’s a women, but cause she tries to involve herself into THEIR match way to damn much. She isn’t another wrestler she’s a ref I hope she learns the difference pretty damn soon.
Ive wrestled at a high level my entire life. Training under many olympians. To this day, when anyone asks who the best wrestler I ever faced was. I always tell them the most technically sound wrestler Ive ever wrestled is Zane Richards. I never understood how he lost in college after he beat me. He is a beast. Good luck man
@@mikebetancourt6403 I think he did twice, maybe three and made the semi's for Illinois. He has repped Illinois his entire life. Another thing I respected
Nick was more afraid of losing than motivated to win. He was way too tentative out there. Now he can live with that loss to a guy he should have beaten.
Yeah, man ur right. alot of dudes wanna point the finger at the reffing, I think it was all nick. the other dude wasn't no slouch but damn nick wrestled like a punk lol.
Serious question, this ref looks like she has never wrestled, so what then makes her qualified to be a ref?? I noticed this through out different matches over the 2 days. Seems to me in order to be a ref they must have wrestled in there past and at least at a high level since there reffing events like the US open.
That arm throw would’ve been sick. Unfortunately he twisted a little too much and should’ve back stepped his hips into him and richards would’ve went flying. Good match
@@SNORLAXBS You’re welcome. Just because I can slow the footage down and see exactly where he went wrong doesn’t mean he’s not a good wrestler. It also is a lot easier to look at footage and find mistakes versus doing it in real life. Grow up.
Most people know that suriano did not get the right call on that grounded dec. But he was also given that caution and one on a step out. He wasn't fleeing the mat. Those were too bad calls
i get they want to have criteria to move things along but it's so unsatisfying to not see a tie score resolved through extended time wrestling, another match concludes yet who is the better wrestler remains inconclusive
And freestyle was starting to grow on me but idk now any more with all these crazy ridiculous rules. I like the push out i guess and the throws and rolls and exposures. All this other crazy shit tho like this match doesn’t allow the better wrestler to win
Agree the ref was terrible in the match but you can't be saying Nick was the better wrestler in this match.zane scored the only offensive pts.and nick didn't initiate anything the whole time .
Why did nick get put on the clock and Zane never did neither was taking shots you never see one get it and the other didn't and the bad call on grounded call Zane was up then he hit his knees out of bounds and Zane should have been put on the clock if ref did her job nick wins by two
Because it's a woman ref so instead of just letting them wrestle she thinks making calls and getting attention shows she's can ref instead of making the correct non call and not being part if the match and outcome..
Can't stand freestyle. Three minutes and twenty seconds (video time) and nothing but stop-start, bleed, stop commercial, stop clock isnt right, start stop, on the shot clock, start... violation give a point to Richards, wrestle for 30 s, stop and give the your are not listening gesture- need to pick up the action. If you just let them wrestle, they will work it out. Sorry, not interested. Let them wrestle! Freestyle doesn't promote more action. They both only wrestled hard the last 40s or so. Same result. Nick shot once with real effort and defended the rest of the match. Just like folkstyle. Would rather see them mat wrestle too.
Suriano is like the anti Christ of wrestling, don't expect to see much offense from him as he spends the match preventing his opponent from any offense as well.... Every now and then he'll try and score a point off a push out... he deserved that L for the wah he wrestles.
What's with the goofy robotic movements old Joisy shore Nicky is doing these days? He needs les time in the tanning booth and trying to be cool and more offense.
Zane is AWESOME!!! If Suriano hadn't quit Penn State and Rutgers he may have been better equipped to wrestle at this level. These guys are no joke! Even Fix has a hard time at this level and he is a much better wrestler than Suriano.
Yeah, I think he should go up too! He's 5'6" but JACKED💪🏻😲. With his talent and aggressiveness, I think he could even go up TWO classes and do well! What's his regular weight? Anybody know? He looks like he may have been slightly drained during this match!🤔That ref! Arrrrrrgh!
@@OmarAbdulMalikDHEdMPASPACPAPro he’s not naturally 125 but his true weight without needing to have to bulk up would be 133. I feel like that was prime suriano
@@xzjayz7925 I think he'd do well there. He's so fit, he probably wouldn't have to worry about O2 conservation with wrestling with the extra weight (sorry for the awkward grammar 😅). I'm no where NEAR Nick's level. But, I wrestled at 118 MANY years ago. I looked like a stickman at 5'9', I went up to 126, then 132 and felt SO much better!
@@OmarAbdulMalikDHEdMPASPACPAPro No problem with Grammar. It’s good. I do think being above 5’6 should put you around 133. That’s why I don’t see fix winning a Natty, he’s at a real serious reach and height disadvantage. That’s why I also feel Vito has improved so much. He was 125 and him being as tall as he is at that light of a weight isn’t healthy. Him bumping up to 133 was what gave him the energy he needed, it compliments his speed as well. If Nick were to bump up, I see no disadvantages for him except maybe a small speed difference. Other than that his physical is increasing, his endurance I feel, Nick has always had good stamina and as you said I feel it’d get better if he bumped a weight up. He’s always looked really tiny at 125.
@@OmarAbdulMalikDHEdMPASPACPAPro like comparing him when he was 133 for Rutgers and 125 for Michigan. Huge mass difference, it looks like he’s at least 15 lbs bigger.
Good luck with that. Ref is a she so that won't happen..more like get promoted to ref world finals for being such a great image of today's wokeness even though she totally sucked
Yeah because they don't have a women's open to ruin with reffing but oh wait😮😮 they do .. imagine that she could actually ref woman's wrestling..what a crazy concept..and men can ref the men's..😮😮😂😂 I know. That's silly. Let's try and ruin another one of 2 good sports left with wokeness..they got to hockey now wrestling..smh
Freestyle sucks so bad. Hey USA Wrestling - how bout we stop apologizing to the world for folkstyle, aka AMERICAN style wrestling, and instead work to promote it and maybe gain some converts in time overseas.
Agreed. My son is a Div 1 wrestler. AA at Fargo in both Freestyle and Greco during High School. I can't stand the subjectivity of FS and GR rules. Love the pushout rule, but the rest sucks. And one move like a gut wrench ends the match? Turn the guy 3 or 4 times with the same hold? What are they, alligators? Touch fall also sucks. Pin should mean both shoulder blades on the mat for two full seconds. Let the guy have a chance to get off his back, not be "pinned" by a roll thru. Unfortunately, the touch fall has made its way into college folkstyle now, too. To be fair to both wrestlers, there should be doubt about a pin. The touch fall is way too subjective.
Agree. I don’t think there as good at determining aggression. As in when to call stalling I’ve noticed. Then again there’s a lot of shitty male refs also
Why is it a female ref? Idk nothing wrong with females in the sport I jus feel under my own opinion men should ref. Well atleats men ref men and females ref females
This ref needs to go..guess because shes a she thats good enough for today..they have women's wrestling now .let her go screw those matches up and leave the men to the men. WTF
