What I miss most is being constantly on the lookout for hopefully seeing either Chris, Melissa or both walking on the Yaletown seawall...

The American Bites Bakery in Porto has American cookies and cinnamon rolls. It's just around the corner from where I live.

Great list, although number 58, "family members, including in-laws", got cut from the final edit. And then we realized it was impossible to decide which column to put it in, missed (or didn't). :) Keep having fun!

I live in the US and don’t know what monster cookies are! Lol. Great list. I think I’d be right there with you. We just got a huge washer that can fit comforters, and my wife is very excited about it. We love the idea of retiring in Europe, regardless. Yes, you miss out on some conveniences and the wide open spaces, but you gain a little peace of mind, and the walkability of city life is great for staying active. Anyway, thanks for sharing your list!

Thank you for watching. Hopefully you will come across a monster cookie some day. :) There are many many appealing things about Europe. No place is perfect.

Some things I noticed when I first visted the USA as a young man many yrs ago. - the sheer scale of the place. It is a contient sized country that seems to go on for ever. - Americans are v friendly, curious & interesting to talk too (in contrast to many places in Europe) in most cases. -the size of many people. Obesity is much worse than Europe. -police & sirens everywhere (in cities). Depsite this, europe is generally safer. - the skyscrappers & pace of the cities felt oppressive.

One of my requirements for moving to Europe was giving a washer AND normal dryer!! Overall, I don't miss a lot...Other than corn tortillas and Mexican food!! Hey, are you in Porto now? We are going to the Expats Everywhere Thanksgiving next week...Check it out if you are in town!!

What the heck are Monster cookies. I can't wait to move to Europe! I would miss family and friends but otherwise not much else.😂
@chrisplusmelissa
@chrisplusmelissa 10 месяцев назад
You know, family and friends are definitely the top thing we miss... yet we didn't put it on this list. :P However, we've also found that when living in the USA, we will still miss family and friends because everyone is spread out. Monster cookies are peanut buttery, oatmealy, chocolatey goodness.

Chris, if you forgot about StarBursts I don't think you're missing them. 😃😃 We also have yellow school buses in Canada. I have no idea what a monster cookie is. Are they made in specific bakeries? Yes, the main floor is the Ground floor. The fees to enter National Parks (in Canada) pays for services, facilities, convservation programs etc.
@chrisplusmelissa
@chrisplusmelissa 10 месяцев назад
Good point on the Starbursts. Monster cookies perhaps are a midwestern thing... they can be found in a lot of places in Minnesota. They are so delicious, they should be made a mandatory food of the world! 🤣

we are moving to Ireland, most things don't make a difference to us, but the metric system UGH LOL I'm in NYC and don't know what a monster cookie is. they have diet coke in Ireland, my hubs drinks it all the time. I need my top sheet LOL

@chrisplusmelissa
@chrisplusmelissa 10 месяцев назад
@@sarahann530 when I was a kid we were preparing to move to the metric system in the 70s... and then for some reason, they stopped it.
@sarahann530
@sarahann530 10 месяцев назад
@@chrisplusmelissa The switch to metric did not proceed because business did not want the expense of switching over.Instead they encouraged the gullible American public that using the English system was more patriotic . Ironically the US military has been using the metric system since 1918 because of its interoperability Wordwide .
