Thank you very much. I took this photo in a rental car on my first trip to Europe in my life.

If I have read the description correctly, the video was shot from late afternoon ( 5 PM ) to late-night ( 23 PM ). The area where he drove is not very populated. The towns, villages and single dwellings are few and spread out.

This was my first trip to Europe, so my understanding of geography was lacking. I mistakenly thought that the part of Norway that juts out from the continent to the west is all the Lofoten Islands. Thank you very much for your help.

@@FightFCGIFU Don't worry to much. The nature/scenery is the same whatever name. There are many around who even don't know where Europe is. I hope you took the time to visit some of the places along the route. I can tell that the road section between 1h 39min and 2h10min in the video goes through a uniqe area. That section was opened in Des.2007. Before that had the area been pristine. No people lived there. So no roads just nature in it purest form. There were many - including me - who were against cutting into that unique area. As you saw it is extremely mountainous, so they needed to construct long tunnels - even an under the sea tunnel - and many bridges. At least they have established a national park , which you drive alongside. Nation park in Norway means..... do not touch the nature in any way..... while in USA it means a tourist destination with roads and visitor centre ..... You started your video in Bjerkvik. Years ago when I studied engineering in Narvik. We were a group of students driving through Bjerkvik and got a speeding ticket ..... the driver "forgot" it was a 50km/h zone. On the other end of the scale was when I stood in Bjerkvik trying to get a lift home - along E10. Then there came an ambulance with flashing blue lights (a bit faster than the speed limit). They stopped and picked me up and gave me a very fast ride for the next 100 km. I may add that there were no patient onboard ... they just needed to get fast to Harstad. So if you need "special service" you can get it in Northern Norway......

@@xpost9381 I see. So the main road to the tip of the Lofoten Islands was built rather recently. It is a difficult problem to build a road in an area rich in nature, because there are both good and bad sides to it. However, for me, it was nice to see the beautiful scenery of mountains with few trees and the beautiful sea. In Japan, where I live, there are only mountains overgrown with trees. I rented a car and drove from Oslo to Ålesund, the glaciers, Bergen and the fjords in the fall of 2019. It was my second trip to Norway.

This is a very sparsely populated area of Norway.The houses are few and far apart.

The Lofoten Islands, with towns here and there, were quite prosperous. There were factories and huge supermarkets.

This of the most populated areas in Northern Norway. Along that road in the video you will find around 77000 people living. That is within a 10-15 minutes drive / detour from that road (E 10). The road does not go into the centre of the communities..... therefore you don't see those places. The video starts in Bjerkvik which is just outside the centre of Narvik with 23000 inhabitants. After 30 min. he passes the major airport of Evenes. The airport in Northern Norway with the largest capacity to handle whatever size of airplanes. It is an important airbase .... actually the airbase for NATO in the Arctic. After the big suspension bridge at 44 min you are in Harstad and can take the longest detour (20 min) to Harstad centre with 25000 inhabitants. In Lofoten itself there are around 23000 inhabitants. So for me .... well.... it is really to many people to go and count them one by one. But maybe something for you who think they are so few.....

The last time I was in Norway was in 1971 and I never got further north than Trondheim and a bit to the west to a tiny fishing village called Upphaug to visit family there. I have been told I have been as far north as Lofoten, but I was only 2 or 3 years old, so I don't remember anything from that trip!
