I am just saying, as much as Hobi has his sunshine personality, he is so much more complex person. He himself said that in real life he is often much more calm and serious. He is also very professional, the most professional in the group, he is their Dance/Performance Leader and mental pillar- RM himself said several times that he shares leadership with him, Hobi is BTS' second leader -behind the scenes. Please just don't people make you to believe that mood-maker is all that is to him and his only role in BTS because it is very belittling. So when I do enjoy those gifs that you used at the beginning, it is not his whole personality.

When people say things like, “You’re 56 years old and still listen and fan girl over a boy band?” I just laugh, because they have NO idea the complexity and healing of BTS and their music. Everything they do is art and nothing is by accident.

I'm 58 and they lyrics healed me so much...to the degree of realized that I have not love My self enough. And thus have the motivation to start doing it.💜💜💜💜 In this isolation I was so sad, first they made me dance, after knowing them so depth, everything is much Better. 💜💜

Man, it's so crazy. I find it hard to listen to other music now, to be honest. I still have bands and artists that I like for their sound, but after experiencing BTS and realizing that not only can I have music that's fun to listen to but it can be something that inspires me and motivates me to be a better person? I don't think I've listened to anything other than my BTS playlist in a few months.

Murray Stein, the psychoanalyst author of the original book, Map of the Soul, himself, acknowledged that BTS’s album is an extraordinary interpretation or application of the Jungian concepts. He has recently written a new book, Map of the Soul: Persona, Shadow and Ego in the World of BTS, explaining the songs in terms of the Jungian concepts. He also did an extended interview on the topic, which is well worth listening to. I will try and get you a link to it.

The lyrics are usually written by the members (for example, "Ego" is written by Hobi and co-written by in-house songwriters/producers), but the concept of MVs and the concept of albums are usually created by Big Hit staff alongside with Bang PD. But the concept for album BE was created by the members themselves. Don't know what comes first - the lyrics and then based on them Big Hit creates the concept or the concept and then members think about these themes and write lyrics. I think it works both ways. For example, Suga came up with idea of Interlude: Shadow a long time ago, he wrote at least part of the lyrics and read them to the members in one of the episodes of RUN BTS, it was before they started working on album "Map of the Soul". But sometimes the lyrics and the concept/MV are not matching and should be viewed apart from each other (for example, almost every song, which is a part of Bangtan Universe)

Tank you! I think too many people often confuse the MVs with the songs meanings themselves. There have been many times where bts themselves have said out loud that they weren't sure where the MVs were going or about. 😄 That said, I do think these explanations were great in their explanations of the song and video and the lyric meanings.

Yea, bighit staff are the ones usually responsible for themes of MV's. And although the members are definitely involved in the theme of their albums, for example they have said that before they make an album they always have meetings to talk abt how they're feeling so their album will be a representation of how they feel in that moment, but the staff take those thoughts and decide how they're going to represent it.

Trusting in oneself and pushing forward. BTS is an extraordinary world of concepts. I started of just enjoying their songs years back and then it happened I started making notes, referencing/cross referencing, quotes, dates etc and the notebooks grew. Kinda grew into a hobby. The members do discuss concepts, we've seen that when RM, V and Hobi talked about the BE album floating ideas back and forth. How much they develop it, or whether managers producers take over I dont know, but it would be interesting viewing.

2 points: 1.) I absolutely love how you were picking up the Korean lyrics and mouthing away with the song, and 2.) Seeing your mind literally get blown after learning about BTS using Carl Jung and psychology for their concepts and songs. 🤣😍 The concepts are planned years beforehand I would say. Of course, the members have some say during development, but I personally think it's the company helping with everything while the members just concentrate on music-making. Other groups have in-depth meanings to their "concepts", but in my very biased opinion, BTS and Big Hit are the most intellectual 🤓 Hence, a lot of us ARMY are quite intellectual as well. 😁 What other group will inspire their fandom to read books on philosophy, psychology, Greek mythology, mental health, fine art, etc (all thanks to members' love of books)?? 💜 BTS is a bookworm's dream group to stan! All these explanation videos make me feel proud that there are so many intellectuals in Army! Bang PD was a voracious reader since young and he speaks English as his mom was an English lit graduate of Seoul Nat'l Univ, a rare accomplishment in her time. The Big Hit shop had already been selling a few books like Murray Stein's "Jung's Map of the Soul" even before the albums referencing them had come out. Big Hit has only shown snippets of their planning process but what is clear is that (1) Bang PD is the mastermind of the roadmap for the company and the Bangtan journey, (2) their process is fluid and collaborative (not one-way and the boys have heavy input too) and (3) they plan up to years in advance. This is why they were able to catch the industry by surprise because they just executed their plans with the very clear vision of being fan-centric and being true to their motto "Music and Artist for Healing". 100% agree with You. Bang PD, Made and them in a hard process of Known themselves, and the fate is they learned and wil continue doing for own Will. In a interview of one western university whith a CEO of BH, asked him, if the label Will created another groups like BTS, he answered that's impossible, cause the 7 persons are unique and their Destiny was to meet each other. You know several times they said that the fate join them.

When Army says BTS has deep messages, we mean they have DEEP messages. 😄 I have never seen another artist like them really, and as King Suga has said, to paraphrase, you don't really get a good picture unless you listen to all the albums, because they tell an over arching story and one song feeds into another. And like EGO some even feed back into their early music. It can be overwhelming. Suga's Shadow Interlude is another good example. He uses lyrics in it that call back to their early song No More Dream and even also in Daechwita which is his solo song.

25:43 I remember how we theorised that MOTS Self/ Anima/Animus or something like that would be after MOTS 7 but then the pandemic happened and we got Be. Though some theorists say that since Be is such a personal album for the boys, it could stand as Self or Anima/Animus in a way. 30:24 there's a joke that goes "BH has been planning this (BU) since 1989." 35:36 he made bracelets for all of them! He gave it to them last BangBangCon the Live.

I appreciate your compilation of the performance, MV, explanations (I got into the rhythm of that German woman's English!), VLive and reaction videos - I watched (and rewinded) the entire 52+ minutes and enjoyed it thoroughly! If you catch Hobi making his bracelets (there are several quarantine videos), some of the VLives are pretty hilarious - he gets clumsy and anxious and its a hot mess. But his intentions are so sweet! I love J-Hope!

Also I found it so interesting that DKDK TV linked Outro: Ego to Answer: Love Myself. I've watched their explanation before but somehow that part slipped my mind. It's cool because Bookish Theories, in one of many explanations for Black Swan, mentioned how the Map Of The Soul series mirrors or tells a similar story to the Love Yourself series. They had said that Fake Love and Black Swan are similar (even in sound) so now that DKDK says both outro songs have similar lyrics it kind of confirms that the albums are mirrors of each other for me. I had always personally felt that Boy With Luv was similar to DNA in the way that they each open their respective album series with an almost false sense of happiness and brightness . . . and now that I think of it, ON has a similar celebratory/overcoming theme as IDOL.

@@ChalfantTV Haha I think it's okay to listen to their music out of order but I must say that being hit with the realizations is a lot cooler when you're familiar with the previous music. In this specific case though you just happened to start with the outro of the series so I guess hearing and analysing the full album would have been less confusing.

@@ChalfantTV I just remembered when RM's Intro: Persona came out many armys were going wild because the music was the same as his part of the intro for school luv affair. But many newer fans and even some older ones like me hadn't heard Skool Luv Affair's intro. I heard all the songs from the album but never the intro somehow. So I had to go listen to the intro and was amazed that BTS had started sampling their own music to convey the fact that they were looking into themselves. Plus the lyrics seemed to reference RM's solo song Voice. Which was the opening track of his debut solo mixtape 'RM'. Their music is a constant continuation. There aren't many pop artists whose lyrics are so true to themselves and show their somewhat personal development and growth through the years.

I did only a quick look through the comments and didn't see anyone answer your question about the song yes the song is called Answer love Myself. But there are other songs which also talk about stars and AMRY etc the other one that immediately comes to mind is Mikrokosmos. It is always a good idea to watch more than one explanation video... Bookishtheories focuses on the references to books and literature movies etc in the songs and MV and DKDKTV mostly foresees on the Korean culture and lyrics and xcelelste does some with the BTS universe theory as the focus...as you can see they all end up crossing into all the layers at some point because they are all so connected. I really love all the layers of meaning in BTS songs and that people can enjoy them on whatever depth they want to. Personally I love all the theory and all the extra meanings and books and personality theory and psychology etc. but also love that you don't have to get into all that to enjoy the music...I also really love that the songs relate to each other and the albums create their own story as well separate from the universe story but creating a flow of their own.

I imagine that there is a team involved in the concepts and execution, as there is a lot to think and plan, and it is an admirable job. As for the boys, I believe that some are more aware and active than others, but work together for something complete, including learning during the project.

I have to tell you. Not all bts music videos are part of the bts universe story line. The music video that are part of the story line has "BU CERTIFIED CONTENT" under the mvs description. Only those music videos are part of the bu. None of the map of the soul era music videos come under the storyline. People confuse every bts music video to be BU. Its not.

@@ChalfantTV i would like to recommend reading Murray Steins book Jungs Map of the Soul to get into the psychology part. Its pretty eye opening i think.💜 Its great to check out the source material bts recommends before they release these kinds of albums. After all the album was based on the book. For wings it was Demian by Hermann Hesse. Can't belive bts making people read here. They do a good job pulling people in with all the fancy visuals and you leave with so much extra knowledge after getting to know them.

In terms of who comes up with the concepts, I believe it's a collaborative effort. For instance RM is seen reading the book Demian in 2015 and the book was what the Wings album and blood sweat and tears was based on but I think the idea for the concept was something the company came up with. Since the boys write their lyrics especially when they have solo songs they have to read and research the concepts brought up by Bang PD and the company. However the Love Yourself series and concept seemed to be something RM came up with that the company worked with to create what we know today. So they go back and forth. Company has plans and the members put forward their approval or complimenting ideas or the boys put forward concepts and the company integrates it and develops it with already existing plans. That seems to be how it works anyway but I can't be totally sure. I'm just going off things I've heard the members say in the past. For the Map of The Soul series, the albums are based on the book with the same name by Murray Stein (Who's since the album came out put out a new version of the book which speaks on BTS' lyrics.) It appears that the concept was brought about by the company because RM himself said that before writing the intro to the album Persona, he had not read the book but just read summaries and shortened versions of it online.
