Thanks for the encouragement, brother! As long as the Lord continues to provide the means, I'll keep the Spurgeon audio coming. Finding the time is the greatest challenge.
Hey!! I love having access to these and think you do a great job with the readings! I’ve been going through them as I rock my daughter to bed. I was wondering a bit about the modernization of language you talk about doing for these; what kind of phrases are you omitting, and what are you substituting? I’m not a staunch traditionalist, and I can tell you’re keeping almost all of the original text, but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything significant!
Great question! You're not missing anything significant! My mission is to make these wonderful old sermons as accessible as possible to 21st century listeners without losing any of the substance. The reason I began recording these was because I love the theology of Spurgeon, I believe he faithfully taught the Bible, and the truths are as relevant today as they ever have been. The majority of the changes involve swapping out archaic words for modern equivalents, and rearranging sentences that sound awkward or old timey. I also do some abridgment, snipping those parts, that in my opinion, are redundant, or do little to drive home Spurgeon's points. Honestly, my purpose in this is largely to keep sermons under 50 minutes. Try listening while reading along with an original manuscript and let me know if you think I've transgressed in my modernization efforts!
@@HearSpurgeon thank you so much! I’ve been reading along and I agree, you’ve been both careful and fruitful in your edits. Thank you and keep up the work!
