This is not 5K definition. 5K means 5040 x 2160 ( aka 5K x 2K ) or in other words it should fill entirely a 21/9 screen and all the resolutions you offer are 16/9.. Misleading
This definitely IS 5K and I feel somewhat insulted by stating that my movies are not what I promise. The 5K stands for the horizontal resolution of 5000 pixels, or even 5120 in my videos. The vertical resolution is 2880. Most of us watch 16:9. If I would use the resolution you ask for, that would mean throwing away 26% of the pixels in my recordings. Check Wikipedia for more info on this subject.
Amazing, I rode the train from Amsterdam to Den Haag December 2019. Went to the museum to see "The Girl with the Pearl Ear ring" and then took a intercity tram to Scheveningen Beach. Nice day, friendly people. Thanks for the memories.
I love your videos. I've been to The Netherlands three times (I stay in Utrecht) and have ridden many of the trains to various parts of the country. The Spurt to Dordrecht, I believe the same type of train in this video from Utrecht to Groningen but I don't recall what train I took to Rotterdam. Your videos serve as a wonderful reminder of my travels there and cause me to look forward to planning more trips.
Having watched some of your beautiful videos, yes, you probably would. I have family in the Netherlands and come from technically the flattest continent on Earth, yet I experience greater changes in elevation in the 20 minute drive to the airport than I do in 4 weeks in the Netherlands, LOL. Still love visiting, however, in part because it IS so different (and usually green). p.s. you have to admit it's kind of perfect terrain for train efficiency, however. I'd love to see how far an ICM can coast from 140km/h; probably half way across the country. ;-D
@@steeltrap3800 Hahaha! So true! As efficiency go, the flatter the better. HAHA! We flip it around and look at how much energy we can produce going down hill whilst maintaining speed. The Flåm Line is pretty interesting in that way :) 0 usage :p We deliver as much as we consumed on the way up.
@@RailCowGirl Yes, being able to return power to the grid via regenerative braking is a very handy thing. On the other hand it would require some very serious capacity to have enough power going up those gradients if you had the sorts of volume of traffic the NL system has. In his channel with the view from INSIDE the cab that includes all the instruments (by far my favourite as it's much more immersive and informative - just looking out the window doesn't really give the sense of 'driving a train"- and his older "head cam" ones are better still) you can see the gauge that shows the available power from the catenary and he's said it is something they watch during peak periods. Thanks for the reply. Hope to make it to Norway some day; family has Scandinavian ancestry on my mother's side.
I think my tv is outputting the video in 5k lol even though ints only full 1080p lol, a very beautiful smooth ride of 2021 and the colour is very very vibrant
With clear you mean resolution? It is 5K, so check your browser settings and internet connection. Also, sometimes Yt does not show all resolutions. Refresh the page and voilà. Let me know if this helps.
Great. Could one add more information, e.g. where lines are diverging to, where they are converging from, what are the lines which cross overhead, that soprt of thing? And it is amazing at at Ypenburg one cannot overtake a stopping train standing at the platform!
That is why we have to stop in front of the signal and not at the logic end of the platform at Ypenburg. More info = a lot of more time to invest, sorry... You can always ask.
1:35 Line diverging to the right towards Amersfoort, it's hidden behind the other train, and also the lines under the flyover viaduct we run over go in that direction. 2:10 Line diverging to the right towards Amsterdam, it's where the other train goes to, and also most of the lines under the flyover viaduct we run over. 2:55 Line converging from the right from the set of flyovers we just passed, it's comes from the last track under the viaduct. 7:20 Line converging from the right from Amsterdam. 10:10 Line diverging to the right towards Leiden 20:50 Line diverging to the right towards Alphen aan den Rijn, at 22:12 it almost comes back towards our track, runs parallel for a moment, and there is a crossover switch from our track to that one, before it finally swings away to the right again. 22:25 Line diverging to the left towards Rotterdam. 27:10 Our track is crossed overhead by HSL Zuid (high speed line Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp) 27:30 Our track is crossed overhead by what is currently the terminal station of 'RandstadRail' light railway line 4. This line is foreseen to be extended towards the left in the future. 31:25 Our track is crossed overhead by 'RandstadRail' Rotterdam Metro line E The Hague-Rotterdam. 31:40 Line converging from the right from NedTrain maintenance facility Leidschendam. 32:25 Passing over HTM streetcar line 19 Leidschendam - Delft railway station (not visible from our position) 34:30 On left and right NedTrain service location The Hague Binckhorst. 35:20 Diverging to the left connection curve to railway line Leiden-Rotterdam. 35:55 Our track is crossed overhead by railway line Leiden-Rotterdam. 36:10 Converging from the right connection curve to railway line Leiden-Rotterdam, and at the far right 'RandstadRail' Rotterdam Metro line E The Hague-Rotterdam. 36:20 Converging from the left connection curve to railway line Leiden-Rotterdam.
Had u toevallig vandaag een dienst van Utrecht Amersfoort? Ik was met een 2 treinen spotters op Uto en we kregen veel toeters. We vroegen af of 1 van jouw is
@@gharwood1356 To be accurate: Zwolle - Lelystad is 1,5kV DC like all other lines, but the construction is ready for 25kV AC in the future. Only the High Speed Line between Schiphol to Brussels is 25kV AC.
2:49 - wow that ICM is arcing on its pantograph a lot. That can't be good for its longevity. This is the first time I've seen this much arcing in some years of videos. I wonder what is wrong. Has the carbon contact burned out and it's a metal wire contact now? 6:20 - Here is another train with more sparks than usual. It might be the lighting accentuating the arcs. My mind wandered a little bit through this episode. I wonder if there are enough railfans in Holland to make it feasible for somebody to setup an outdoor roof-top railfan restaurant and bar on some of the flat top buildings where there are a lot of lines such as at 7:42 for one example. That would be quite a site for watching the parade of trains. {^_^}
@@CabviewHolland I have been licensed as an amateur radio operator since 1959. I see that display and I can almost hear in my mind the static crashes on the radios. I wince. Lightning season is hard on the ears. It is rather striking looking, however. With everything else dark the stream of sparks coming your direction must indeed be fun to watch. {^_^} (Well, I have said I'm kinda old, haven't I? {^_-})
@@CabviewHolland op 1:07 net over dat pad staan ze,10 cm van de rail aan de binnenkant 2 links en 2 rechts lichtgrijs rechtop staand.ik heb de video nu voor mij bevroren.
