ha ha ha, oh yes. That was also what made them so strong back in the days... that you don't know them (especially the steel/psycho type from Metagross wa confusing for me when I didn't know it)
There was so much heart and soul put into these early Pokemon games. It's amazing how they managed to convey so much in such subtle ways through such simple graphics, like how the character's reflections show on the floor in the Champion's hall, making it seem more mystical.
Ruby was my first pokemon game and man does it hold a special place in my heart. I STILL remember being like 8 and having sweaty palms from hearing the champion's music. Such a fond memory. God I love this game. Steven was so cool to me at the time.
Steven's team has some of my favorite Pokemon cries! Skarmory's cry fits so well at the top of the battle. Broke my heart the first time I heard the modern Cradily cry...
@@lukereilly9844 Have you even played DPPt? I played Ruby and he can't reach the same level of difficulty as Cynthia. I was only able to beat Cynthia with Giratina. She has type coverage and AI. So if u switch a pokemon that has type advantage on hers, she'd switch it out. But I still love Steven as a champion also.
Agreed. Cynthia is hard af, especially her Spiritomb and Garchomp (fairy types didn't exist prior to gen 6), and has a balamced team. If you are talking about doing actual Champion duties, Steven has Cynthia beat in that category. Looking back in RSE/ORAS, Steven appeared in Granite cave, Route 117 or 118, route 120, Mossdeep City (his house and space center), Sootopolis City, Southern Island, Battle Resort, that one route in the middle of water (i forgot), in Devon Corp. (In delta episode), Meteor Falls, and of course, in the Pokemon league. There, he mostly gave guide to the trainer guides and advices while giving out actual things to help (Devon scope, Steel wing, Key stone, Metagrossite, a Beldum if you become the Champion). He also helped in the duo battle, and in saving Hoenn in the main story and delta episode. This is just on the main Hoenn games. Cynthia, on the other hand, first appeared in the city where the grass type gym is located, helped you clear the way to Celestia town, she was also found near one of the lakes, went to the distortion world with you (to find giratina and cyrus), in the Pokemon League and in the island resort, in your villa (which is saud to be Steven's). That's on DPPt (and I'm still screaming for Sinnoh remakes) Long story short, read the my first paragraph bcuz i only explained the Champion thingy.
This battle is harder if you choose Treecko as starter. Blaziken hits super-effectively most of his Pokémon (except for Claydol and Armaldo). This also happens with Swampert except for Skarmory and Cradily. Sceptile only hits super-effectively Claydol.
@@Smart1529 brick break is only very effective against aggron. Considering how high its defense stat is and how low sceptile's attack stat is in comparison, the best way is from the special side a.k.a water moves with Swampert.
thats why treecko was never chosen unless you were like me and played emerald and wanted to choose the starter that was green because rayquaza was green
@@acidace9239 no I picked Treecko because I love Treecko and my first Gen 3 game I played was Sapphire and in that game you will have a much easier route getting rid of water type pokemon quickly. Sceptile is not even a bad Pokemon it doesnt have a second type until the remakes where it Mega evolves
i was like "random bullshit go!" on steven. and then i found out like "ok electric types is the key." until later in gen 5 i realized it's fire. when i played black 2 and using ember on colress's magneton i was like "I COULD'VE SAVED MY INSANITY ON STEVEN IF I KNEW THAT" lol
Do you get that shaking feeling when batteling a Pokemon champion? I did in 4th grade, i squeezed the homework, JUST TO BEAT STEVEN. It was worth IT. This badass theme.
Steven's party is a badass team of Pokemon, and utterly refreshing after an endgame full of tired water types, if not utterly terrifying because of a high chance of you losing to him.
Steven's Gen 3 team is garbage, actually. Aggron with Thunder, Cradily. His team can be a LOT better now that there are lots of better new Rock and Steel Pokemon like Tyrantrum and Magnezone.
Imagine the Skarmory was shiny, you would NEVER, ever, catch it. Because he would block the ball, and spam Full Restores like Lance from Golder, also, if you WERE to catch a trainer pokemon, you would get a BadEgg
I remember the first time I fought Steven as a kid... I'd never even seen most of his team before, because none of them even appeared in the game up until that point. Most thrilling battle I ever had.
I always think it's weird how your rival can get to you in the champion chamber to talk to you, for crying out loud you had to get 8 gym badges, 4 elite 4 members, and tons of grinding for them to just go there and have the authority to go anywhere because of their little dad that also got beat up by a level 2 poochyena.
Because if they didn't it would be the same final battle and easy to beat. So I played ruby first and it was a slap to the face when I realized it was easy rock type anymore so my fire type died easily. I had to change strategy.
Just remembered when Blaziken was out of moves, I just fucking won using the last move ‘Struggle’ and I laugh when I won, luckily I had some potions and full restore so yeah I won. Just saying
I actually preferred Wallace for emerald since I played ruby before so it's was a surprise when I saw Wallace instead of Steven in emerald. I was like oh crap it's not the same pokemon type and had to change my strategy. It was awesome thou white the old switcheroo lol
0:30 This is an actual competitive strategy. Magneton (or Magnezone) is often used to get rid of Skarmory because it can hit it super effectively and has an ability that prevents the Skarmory from switching out. On that note, Steven's Skarmory even has Spikes in its moveset.
- Magneton isn't bad, but its stats are too mediocre except for Special Attack. - Golduck has decent stats, while can hit the most difficult Elite Four members with Calm Mind, Ice Beam and Surf. - Flygon is pretty good, but takes too long to evolve. - Crobat starts off quite weak, but after its final evolution is quite good. - Aggron has a mediocre movepool in this generation, and even its type isn't great in-game. - Swampert is probably the best Hoenn Starter, though Water is the most common type in Hoenn.
Steven: "Welcome, trainer. I was looking forward to seeing you here one day. You... What did you see on your journey with Pokémon? What did you feel, meeting so many other trainers like you? What has awoken in you? I want to hit me with it all! Now, bring it"!
After challenging the elite four, you'll at last get to the Pokémon league champion. And that champion of Hoenn is Steven. He'll have Skarmory, Claydol, Aggron, Cradily, Armaldo, and Metagross.
I saw this video called "Megalovovania hidden in songs" and one of the selections were this song I watched the whole thing and i didnt hear it once, nice try whoever made that video
I really wish I could had got in Pokemon Ruby and emerald if I could I go back to at all including playing Pokemon fire Red I just wish I could had got into this more often that would make my life much better including karate 🎮✌️😌👍🎮
Omar Ben he probably used the bicycle trick in the desert while his Pokémon was in daycare. Can boost a Pokémon up 50+ levels overnight if you leave it on and tie down up on the DPAD with a rubber band.
I'm trying to beat the Elite Four, my best shot when i beat Glacia. but i lost to a Salamence. AND NOW, I AM GOING TO GET TM ICE BEAM AGAIN AND TRAIN MY LEVEL 28 TENTACRUEL!!!!!!!!! Oh and btw team was: 1.Blaziken level 51 2.Gardevoir level 46 3.Crobat level 41 4.Absol level 43 5.Lairon/Aggron level 40/42 6.Tentacruel level 40 To beat this, i strongly reccomend Blaziken should sweep out Sidney's team. I also made Absol attack Phoebe. Glacia was harsh with Aggron/Lairon's Iron Tail/Metal Claw or Gardevoir's Shock Wave. Drake might be very hard, but i have to use either Tentacruel with Ice Beam or Regice. Steven is piece of cake with Blaziken and Tentacruel.
you should've tried to catch groudon when you fought him, hes very useful. My team that im attempting to beat champion steven with is leve 62 blaziken, level 50 groudon, and then a bunch of low level 20s hahah. any tips on leveling up faster??
